Growing up my parents always taught my sister and I that we should always be grateful for what we had. Take care of all our toys and expensive things that they brought us. They taught us that you have to work hard for what you want and nothing is handed to you. Even though me and my sister always got what wanted we also knew that we worked for it and that made getting it even better. I believe my parents raised me pretty good. I always respected them and knew my limits, me and my sister had chores we had to do and if they weren't done by the end of the week we would have a consequence. This taught us responsibility and that in the real world if you don't do your job you would be fired or there would be a consequence you would have to pay. Lately I have noticed that a lot of kids in today's society are very ungrateful. They feel entitled and believe that they shouldn't have to work for anything. They think things should just be handed to them without any questions asked. I think I have a way to stop this rising trait in today's youth.
Australia Day, celebrated on the 26th of January every year, is a nationally recognised day that signifies the anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet. It’s a historic event that also marks the beginning of the oppression of the Indigenous people, that still can occur today, no matter how much the Government has tried to atone for the sins of the past. Australia Day is a day of celebration and mourning, a fact that contributes to the constant bickering between the Indigenous and non-Indigenous. There are many who believe that the meaning behind the modern Australia Day is overshadowed by the past, which will prevent the nation from moving forward, much like Ben Roberts-Smith who published an opinion piece in the Herald Sun on the 26th
The best persuasive speaker of all time using pathos as his main attraction with the famous saying “Give me Liberty or Give me Death”. Patrick Henry was born May 29, 1736 and was born ambitious; doing a lot of things as a young child that made him the man he was. Life growing up was a trying time because of his many ambitions in his work field. Patrick tried a lot of professions growing up but failed at all of them miserably. Patrick Henry is the best speaker of all time because his appeal to emotion was so strongly considered and how he made the people listening to his speech listen in awe.
Good evening. Some of you out there may not realize this but those of you who attended Suntime Middle School have been with this guy for the last seven years. I would like to ask you all, not just Suntime Middle School grads and who all else, to join me in thanking Mr. Weather for his patience and dedication to the success of our education over the years. We are the Class of 2000. The first graduating class of the new millennium. The past four years have been pretty wild. We started out as a bunch of rats in a small cage, but as time went by we learned and matured and became big rats in a new small cage, but in any case, the cage door is now opening; the handlers turning us wild things loose. As we leave "Where the Wild Things Are," home to some of the best cat fights, fist fights and food fights this side of the Cascades, I have a little surprise for all of you sitting in front of me here tonight in your caps and gowns … we ain’t seen nothing yet!

Patrick Henry was a lawyer, patriot, orator, and an eager participant in about every activity that had to do with the founding of America. He was a founding father and strong advocate for republican principles. With his persuasive and passionate speeches, the famed patriot was an impetus for the American Revolution. Henry was born on May 29, 1736. In 1765, he was elected from Louisa County, VA, to the House of Burgesses. Soon after being sworn in, he introduced the Virginia Stamp Act resolutions, “in language so extreme that some Virginians said it smacked of treason”. It took much debate, but Henry succeeded in getting his proposal passed. He was an early voice of rebelliousness against Britain’s colonial policies. During the debate of the Stamp Act of 1765, he insisted that only the colony itself should be able to tax its citizens. Some said that he was speaking of treason, but Henry did not let them bother him. His proposals were printed and distributed to other colonies, which helped increase discontentedness among the colonies. In 1773, Massachusetts pleaded for committees of correspondence to be made in order to coordinate activities with the British. In response, Henry took the lead in Virginia. In March of 1773, along with Thomas Jefferson and Richard Henry Lee, Henry led the Virginia House
I believe there are many ordinary heroes wearing caps and gowns tonight. Many of you are heroes because you challenge yourselves to be more accepting of those around you. Some of you heroes woke up every day and came to school with the desire to reach out to those hurting and in need of a friend. Other heroes went the extra mile to make someone feel important, encouraging them and offering hope they may not otherwise have experienced.
