Spring break From elementary to high school, kids from all grade levels get excited over spring break. This well deserved week of vacation is important because it gives us students time to relax before the end of course exams. This spring break was really enjoyable and adventurous. For example, my family and I headed over to Houston, Texas and spent all of our week over there. We drove off Saturday morning with a truck full of blankets and snacks. Time had never passed by as slow as that day ,yet my Red Hot Chilli Peppers playlist made it better. We finally arrived and I had never imagined the amount of activities there is to do in the city. As a result, we explored all throughout Houston. There was never a tedious moment. Friday
arrived in a flash and it was time to go home. Now I do not know if it is just me ,yet the way back ,on every road trip, is a lot more rapid. When we got home, I noticed a new dog leash sitting on the living room sofa. Out of curiosity, I ran to my mother and asked her. “Have you bought a new leash?” i asked. Without answering my question and a huge smile on her face, she opened the restroom door and out came a puppy! A chubby, white and brown, English Bulldog that I had been wanting for a long time. It was one of the best surprises anyone had ever given me. In conclusion, this spring break was one of the best vacations ever! I had heaps of fun at Houston and will have a companion to play with because of my new puppy. Without a doubt, I wish we had more vacations like these throughout the year.
Most students look forward to fall and spring break. It’s a time of rest and relaxation and perhaps for a few, a chance to get ahead on assignments. These breaks are often something that I personally look forward too, furthermore assuming that this is the same for other students as well.
Another significant reason is summer vacation needs to be longer. The primary reason for this is children need time to wind down and relax before they have to go back to school. For instance, during the summer children relax and prepare for school, if they...
The tiredness can cause lack of performance in school and the one week of March Break is not going to help, but two weeks of March Break can calm down the students and prepare them for three more months of school.
Summer is a time where people have gatherings, goof around, take vacations and spend time with their family. Many students are used to having two week winter break, one week spring break, and three months of summer break. Changing this traditional format could lead to negative effects for many students, educators, and families. A balanced school year would not have enough benefits to change schedule.
Do you think its fair that players are credited for what they do, when cheating the game? Mark McGwire excelled at the game of baseball and got credit for all of his accomplishments, yet he cheated the game and used steroids. Babe Ruth, considered one of the greatest baseball players to play the game of baseball, who never cheated and set a great example for all who play baseball. Baseball has drastically changed over the years, especially in the cheating scandals of steroids; Babe Ruth set a great example by excelling in the sport and doing it clean, contrasting with Mark McGwire. Their existence shows how society accepted honesty and doing it the clean way in Babe’s era and how society accepts the scandals and dishonesty of Mark’s era.
Mary Wollstonecraft, a women’s rights advocate in the year 1792 summed it up perfectly when she said, “I do not wish them [women] to have power over men; but over themselves.” She is describing the fight within every woman in the Feminist Movement that began in the 1700’s and extended throughout the late 20th century. This powerful motion was a drive to address the debated issues of reproductive rights, domestic violence, maternity leave, equal pay, women’s suffrage, sexual harassment, and sexual violence. As time has passed, feminists have pushed extremely hard to gain equal rights and respect from their male counterparts. Unfortunately in today’s world, society still puts an emphasis on a women’s exterior beauty. They emphasize it in magazines, television commercials, and even the infamous beauty pageant. The industry of beauty pageants is growing rapidly, jeopardizing the continuous work of many women’s rights advocates, throwing away the continuing efforts for equal rights (Miss America, 2011).
Thomas Christensen, in a review of Lewis Hyde’s Trickster Makes This World, entitled, “This Worlds Makes Trickster,” discusses about Hyde’s book and how it analyzes the very nature of the Trickster as a mythological figure. Over the course of the review, Christensen was straight to the point on his analysis, taking note of the examples that he had found in Trickster Makes This World. Arranged in the form of six areas of interest, they are: “The Trap of Appetite,” “A Net to Catch Contingency,” “Playing in the Dirt,” “The Trap of Culture,” “Who is Trickster,” and “Fools and Folly, Clowns and Clowning, Tricks and Tricksters.” Of the six, personally, “Trap of Appetite,” “A Net to Catch Contingency,” and “Trap of Culture,” is of noteworthy interest. My conclusions on why
A third reason is Teachers need time to plan the upcoming year. One reason kids get summer vacation is because they need a break to recover from the academic and social pressure. According to Brittany Chu, kids get very excited when summer break rolls around because they get relief from the pressures during the school year. In addition, breaks gives kids time to recover from the school year.
James Baldwin’s works were influenced by the times in which he lived, as an African American writer he strove for equality and used his pen to work for civil rights through elements of his childhood among other aspects.
The trip included my mom, my best friend, her mom, and me. My spring break was being spent in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is very different than New York making it an adventure seeing as it was my first time ever going there. Going to a new place or even somewhere you’ve been before means you’re going to see new things and try new things. That was particularly what got me so excited for the trip in the first place.
The first reason for the traditional school year, the students should have a break time and they will spend time for the family traditional vacation. For summer breaks no longer term of YRE, the students will have three to four weeks shorter breaks then back to school. They attend school for more than 180 days calendars. For example, the students feel all the stress about heavily homework, test, studying, and quiz, but they need a break. In fact, summer vacation is a family tradition. YRE should give an opportunity for health and social education. In addition, the most United State school kids have lost their summer break in 2.5 million as their school districts options of YRE (“Year-Rou...
Spring break like western democracy, educational systems, philosophy, science, and the arts started in ancient Greece. Historically spring break was the time where Dionysus, the god of wine and festivities, was venerated. In this time the Grecians would have festivals with wine drinking competitions and performances. It can be said that mere details have changed in this holiday or break, but not much else. In 1936, Florida hosted the First College Coaches Swim Forum that brought many college swimmers to the area. This meeting of swimmers evolved to parties of students at the beaches and pools of Florida during this week. Spring Break kept evolving and becoming an event for college students thanks to the production of movies and songs like Spring Break starring Tom Cruise and Shelley Long or Girls Gone Wild. Spring Break is not all about the drinks and the parties. Although the evolution of Spring Break has been created around the idea of college students consuming products that are not ideal for the body or engagement in activities that are not the norm in every day life, other programs have been created not involving these ideals. These other programs range from college sponsored
There are several plans that schools offer in order to distribute the vacation throughout the year in many smaller breaks then in one three month block. Examples of these plans would be 45-15,60-20, and 60-15. The 45-15 plan is the most widely used plan, it is the simplest plan to use at any level of education, and also can be used for a multi track school. With the 40-15 plan student's go to school for 45 days and then have a 15-day break. Next the 60-20 plan follows the same pattern as the 45-15, students go to school for 60 days and then have a break for 20. Most teachers like this plan because it allows them a little more time on a particular subject.
Also, a longer break would let them spend time with family members. Students would like a longer summer break to spend time with family members. Students could stay with other family members and cook out with them, play games with their family members, and talk with their family members as well.
During the spring semester, there are two more large gaps between breaks, one of which is also over two months long. Although weekends do help, these are often used for studying and homework and do little to ease the students' stress. Many students begin to dislike their classes because of the stress they cause, and as a result, some put less effort into their studies. Breaks allow students some time off from their classes to relax so that they can come back refreshed. Another reason breaks are important is that they give students time to spend with their families.
