Speed limit signs are posted on every road in this country, and 80% of car crashes in the US involve a lack of adherence to the speed limit, but most drivers, teens included, don’t find them to be important. More often than not, speed limits are seen as “guidelines” rather than rules. This mistake, although common, can mean the difference between life and death. It’s basic physics that make speed limits so important. For example, Newton’s first and third laws can be applied to show that traveling at the speed limit is beneficial.
