Everyone goes through their day thinking it is the same routine since yesterday. Most people don’t realize how every decision they make, changes your future. Each decision changes the way people think about you, and how you come off as a person. Some of our biggest social problems are caused by people being reckless about how they treat other people. Unaware Bullies orm Relational bullying(bullying within a relationship) can be more subtle than the traditional school bully. But these types can be much more damaging. What 7th graders need, is a superior level of self awareness. Self awareness can be defined as the ability to look at your actions, and compare them to what you believe to be morally correct. Self awareness isn’t targeted at the bullies who enjoy teasing people, and don’t care about what people think. Instead it is targeted at people who are blind to the fact that they are harming others. One of the first steps in becoming more self aware, is to think about your morals, and what you think good citizenship looks like. Look at how your behavior compares to the imaginary citizen you just created. Self awareness isn’t trying to become a better person, it is about thinking about what you WANT to become, and how you can achieve that goal. As long as you are happy with who you are you will lead a happier life. To achieve full self awareness, and to truly find what you want in life is difficult to achieve. Many people believe they do have self awareness. A study testing certain parts of the human brain that cause people to look at themselves in a different way, showed that only 10% of Americans tested truly passed as even slightly self aware, while 95% of Americans, tested claimed that they had good self awareness. This same study also showed that the higher self awareness, the less likely you are to steal, lie, cheat, or get in
