Education: Benny continues to attend South Amboy Elementary School in South Amboy. He is currently in the third grade regular education. When Benny was first placed in the Rodriguez home. He was not enrolled in school when he resides with his biological parents. Benny struggle with writing and did not have the opportunity to develop healthy peer relationships because this youth’s mother reported that she “home schooled him” without the approval of the school district they resided in. Since Benny has been enrolled into the South Amboy Elementary School his academic progress has improved but he is still below average for his grade level. Mrs. Rodriguez has requested for Benny to be evaluated by South Amboy Special Service. CM will follow up with
South Amboy Special Service CST to find out if Mrs. Rodriguez request for Benny to be evaluated for special services was honored and the time frame to complete required evaluations. In the meantime Mrs. Rodriguez will continue to monitor Benny’s academic progress. Action: Benny will continue to address his academic needs at South Amboy Elementary School. CM will also follow up with the South Amboy Special Service CST to check on the status of Mrs. Rodriguez request for Benny to be evaluated for special services. CM schedule next CFT meeting for tentatively 12/7/17. CM will contact family to coordinate next FF visit.

Detroit, once known as a bustling city of fast cars and bling, is now known for its poor education system. Detroit, minus its Red Wings, has failed at every turn economically and educationally. With its population cut in half and poverty rates soaring, there is no telling what can stop this disaster of a city. The only hope, it seems, is to better educate the region that Detroit inhabits. Detroit Public Schools has been one of the worst performing school districts in recent years. In 2013, the city of Detroit filed chapter 9 bankruptcy, the largest account of bankruptcy to-date. Good teachers avoid Detroit Public Schools because of the poverty, job quality, and low pay, leaving children with the unqualified teachers they have today in this poverty-plagued city that they call home.
The organization I work for is a nursing home management company. That’s the simple definition. Health Services Management Group manages of the operations of eleven (11) skilled nursing facilities (SNF), and three (3) home health agencies (HHA). Each of the SNFs and HHAs are operated/licensed by a single purpose entity. Of these long term care providers, one (1) SNF and two (2) HHAs are operated as non-profit organizations. The purpose of the non-profit providers, ultimately, is to fund The Trousdale School. “Trousdale School serves high functioning adults with intellectual disabilities, providing academics and life skills for the purpose of learning independence.” 1
Detroit is a story of a once flourishing city that has been on a long downslide for decades. There are miles of unoccupied homes and buildings, and crimes and unemployment are at an all-time high. Many aspects of the city are breaking down, including the school system. The Detroit Public School System has lost over eighty thousand students due to high enrollment in charter schools, the large economic decline, and the departure of residents. For many years no one has taken responsibility for the public school system. However, for Detroit to rise again, it is necessary for someone to take responsibility, make a plan, and make sure that children are safe, well cared for, and are receiving a high quality education when going to school each day. In 2016, schools are low-performing with poor test scores, are falling apart, and teachers and parents have decided to take a stand.
Per psychologist, Quadir can be placed back into a regular class, however Quadir’s behavior is causing him to do poorly on some test and exams. Per psychologist, Quadir is at risk for hyper activity and aggression. Per Psychologist, Quadir has a behavioral problem which make him at risk for behavioral modification services. The psychologist remanded for Quadir to continue to receive behavior intervention services. Ms. Wingate stated, that Quadir is a good student, like school and is friendly. Per Ms. Wingate, Quadir is working on goals at school which includes, improving reading, math, and behavior conflict and utilizing coping skills. Per Ms. Wingate Quadir is in need of a 504 accommodation plan during test taking because of his ADD. Per Ms. Wingate Quadir can become very aggressive with his peers and teachers when he get angry. Per Ms. Wingate Quadir can become very non complaint, use profanity, and abusive when he get upset. The coordinator ]from One & One Youth Services, stated, that he would be requesting for Quadir to receives duel service, which includes, Day treatment and continual IIH services from Progressive Care
Sebastian is a Preschool student who atttends For His Glory Early Education Center school in Puyallup, WA. Sebastian of the last year has be displaying very concerning behavior in his preschool class as well as at home. Sebastian has displayed several signs of being delayed in both social skills as well as cognitive skills. Furthermore, Sebastian often times displays behavior of being unable to concentrate suring curriculum time, being very disruptive in class, and has several out burst when faced with learning skills that he is not familiar with. In a meeting with Sebastian’s parents it was learned that many of the challenges that Sebastian is dealing with at school, he is also facing at home. Upon the recommendation of the teacher and the school counselor it was determined that furhter assemssment will be conducted on Sebastian. After going through extensive behavior analysis and assessments, it was determined that Sebastian is dealing with the condition ADHD.
East Brooklyn Community High School is a small transfer school located in Brownsville. The school has a small staff and a small population of students compared to most high schools in New York City. The history department has four teacher, Ron the Global Europe and Global Asia teacher, Ariela the Global Middle East, Global Latin America and Caribbean and Economics teacher, Jimmy the SPED teacher who helps out in all the history classes and myself Dominique the US History and Government teacher. Together we are a tight unit that spreads the love of history to our students. As a department every week, we check in on student performance, lesson study projects, and regent preparation for students in addition to weekly lesson approaches. Sometimes if we have time during our meetings we help, each other map out upcoming units. As a department, we observe each other classes to learn different strategies of teaching content and literacy.
At the Oakes Public Schools, the coaching contract is a section of the teachers negotiated agreement. The contract also states that all efforts will be made to fill all extracurricular positions with teaching faculty, and any community members may have their job re-posted following the season, regardless of performance. Inner-city elementary age kids face many challenges in and out of the classroom. These challenges range from education day in and day out, as well as, sometimes growing up in an impoverished family and community. Factors also include peers which these kids come into contact with at school, in the streets and at home. Kids today need more than ever an extra push of positive motivation from mentors. I believe that this constructive mentoring begins with after school programs. After school programs give kids the opportunity to work one on one with an adult to reinforce encouragement and teach more than just text education. Because I have participated as a volunteer at an after school program, I have seen first hand the positive impact such programs can generate among elementary aged kids involved.

Douglas Unified School District #27 (DUSD) currently serves 3,800 students from Kindergarten through twelfth grades. DUSD is composed of five elementary schools, two middle schools and one High School, which is Douglas High School (DHS). Approximately 1,400 students are enrolled in this year. Students are mostly Hispanics they received reduced or free lunch and some portion of the students are considered English (ELLs).
