“A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.” This quote was said Albert Einstein and I feel that I can relate to it very well. When I was young, I never wanted to make mistakes, as I would feel bad for doing something wrong. Going back to the quote, one can tell I never tried anything new. I strived to do my best but as time progressed, I felt I was not doing my best. In my freshman year of high school, I wanted to do more, but there was the constant fear of messing something up if I tried something new. People keep telling me to do something new and interesting so I can add it to my résumé. All I had ever focused on was school. I was known as only an intelligent person, but I wanted to be known as something more. Sophomore …show more content…
When I am presented with a challenge or a problem, I would first tackle it with the first few ideas that I come up with. If those ideas do not solve the problem, then I would take a few minutes to myself and think. I would ask my friends on their opinions and ideas to add to my thought process. After all that, I would approach the problem again and see if it can be solved. A mechanical engineer’s job is to solve problems and think. I love to solve problems and think. Solving issues have always been a strength of mine. Mechanical engineers want to find the solution to a problem as quickly as possible so it can be resolved. If their first method does not work, they think of another and hope that works. By thinking and solving issues practically on a daily basis, mechanical engineering matches my persona and will enhance by skills. Another one of my strengths is working with computers. Computers are a necessity in this field. If a new software comes out, I would play around with the software to be fully accustomed to it. My creativity has allowed my love for building things to expand. Ever since I was young, I always love to build things with Legos. I could build a wide variety of things right from the ideas from my head. In mechanical engineering, one has to build certain devices from scratch to solve current issues. My skills will move to the …show more content…
Some of my friend wants to me mechanical engineers. If they need help with a project, I can aid them with some ideas that I have. Everyone thinks differently so if one day my friend and I get some coffee and he’s really stressed about ideas for his upcoming project, I throw out some of my ideas. My ideas would go to him and he would make them a reality in his devices if applicable. In addition to ideas, I can help my friend, or anyone in the field, make estimates or create formulas for the profession, as I will be going into something that involved mathematics. Mathematics is linked to all professions so where every I’ll end up; I’ll always be able to help anyone in any
As far as I could remember I was never really any good at school. I couldn’t concentrate on things for no more than 5 minutes at a time I would either get discouraged or find it too easy and just give up. An author by the name of Carol Dweck wrote an article called “Brainology” in it Dweck describes that there are two types of mindsets fixed and growth. Those who are afraid to fail so they never try anything new are ones with a fixed mindset and the growth mindset are those who are not afraid to fail and find a new challenge an opportunity to learn something new. I guess you can say that I had a bit of a fixed mindset growing up I was always too scared to look stupid that I didn’t want to fail because I didn’t want to disappoint my siblings
When I arrived here at college I was extremely disappointed with the selection of food here in the cafeteria. I frequently found myself eating only hamburgers and pizza over and over again, simply because I did not like the other choices. About four months into the school year I had do go to the doctor for a virus and when the nurse weighed me I was a little surprised by what I saw. I had gained a little over ten pounds, close enough to what some refer to as the “Freshman 15.” It is a common fear among college students that they are going to gain fifteen pounds during the course of adjusting to college life. However experts have stated that the idea of the so called “Freshman 15,” is not that accurate. Every college student is obviously not going to gain fifteen pounds. However I believe that it is possible and it is a problem for many college students. College life completely changes eating habits among college students. Most students do not make the right choices about eating and exercising. College students across the country are severely unhealthy in their behaviors, and for some students the “Freshman 15” may be a reality.
...you in your past, you are not your past, you are the resources and the capabilities you glean from it. And that is the basis for all change.” In conclusion, learn from your mistakes, remember what talents got you where you are today and success will eventually come along the way.
Winston Churchill said, “All men make mistakes, but only wise men learn from their mistakes.” While I have learned from my mistakes in the past, all the experiences that I have endured have made me into the person I am today. Even being a work-in-progress, I have a solid foundation, strong internal support and blueprints of the person I will become. And the day I become a complete multi-colored sculptor of experiences and hard work, I will have helped and inspired others to do the same.
Every job involves certain skills and abilities, depending on which engineering path a person chooses to pursue. Important skills such as listening to what others are saying, taking time to understand and comprehend what they mean and want, and asking que...
My decision to become an electrical engineer was not a decision I took too long ago. It is something that I decided to pursue when I entered a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) high school. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed working with computers and building circuits, and the fact that this career involved many subjects. Doing a lot of research to understand better what it meant to be an Electrical Engineer, I found out that in order to succeed in this career one had to know a little bit of everything. In other words, subjects such as science and math are essential to know if someone wants to be successful electrical engineer. An electrical engineer is someone who finds practical solutions to everyday problems that involve electricity, such as computers, cell phones, among other electrical equipments. In order to create a useful device one must know where to start and this is where science comes in. An electrical engineer must be able to use the scientific method, which means; one must form a procedure, test it out, and write a conclusion. These parts of the scientific method must be written clearly, so that others can recreate and test out a device or project. Math also plays a key role in this area of study, because one must be precise when creating a new device that others are going to use. For example, if one were to create a new type of cell phone one must know a lot of math in order to be able to progr...
Like all engineering jobs, mechanical engineers have a specialized set of skills that are beneficial to them in their work. If one does not possess these characteristics, it does not necessarily mean that they can never be an engineer; rather, this is a sign that mechanical engineering might be a difficult career for them to go into. After all, no one is perfect, and most engineers do not possess all of these skills. That which one does not know, one can learn, as most mechanical engineers do. Furthermore, the perseverance it takes to acquire those skills is already a step in the right direction.
In order to be any engineer, you must love math, science and solving problems. Whether it's figuring out how to erect a structurally sound skyscraper, design a more efficient car engine. Engineers at the most basic level are problem solvers. Engineering is a career based on logical, systematic problem solving, generally in high-tech, industrial, or scientific fields. Industrial engineers determine the most effective ways for an organization to use the basic factors of production—people, machines, materials, information, and energy—to make a product or provide a service (Occupational Outlook Hand Book). Engineers apply scientific and technical knowledge to address their problems and tasks faced by businesses and governments.
An ambition to learn and grow and having passion for engineering have prompted me to go in for graduate studies. Chasing my Dreams! While growing up at a young age I was always intrigued by objects that produced mechanical work and energy be it prime movers such as automobiles, construction and mining equipment, turbo machinery such as jet engines, space shuttles or complex mechanisms of mechanical watches, I used to spend a lot of time trying to learn and figure out their basis and propositions, it was necessary for me to explore my inner conscience to understand my fascination towards machines and their ingenuity, Mechanical engineering seemed a direct consequence of my convictions. I have always admired my father as a civil engineer and his hard work and struggles throughout his life; He has always been a role model for me. He motivated me to pursue my dreams so I decided to pursue my undergraduate study in Mechanical Engineering
Everyone wants to be something from a doctor to a stylist, I want to be a mechanical engineer. This is something I have always wanted to do in my life, the opportunities that exist in this field can lead to anything. Mechanical engineers are able to do many tasks in the job environment from designing, to developing, and also building. In addition, as new companies are starting up they will need mechanical engineers to help them develop their product. All of the engineering fields have great pay, that is able to support my family and also my parents. In the work environment of a mechanical engineer, they usually are around an office and sometimes where their product is being used at. To be able to apply for a mechanical engineering job you
My interest in pursuing mechanical engineering comes from my engineering teacher from griffin high school. I came in as a ninth grader, and I just chose to try it because I really did not know what I wanted to do. Mr. Burrell taught me many things. I feel like he prepared me the most by how much he challenged me and made me go through problem solving steps to figure out things that I did not know. Once I continued my knowledge through high school in engineering I figured out that mechanical engineering is the discipline that I felt like I was most interested in and that I was the most successful in. Webster specifically defines the discipline of Mechanical Engineering as, “the type of engineering tha...
Engineers are valuable assets to any company because they think analytically. Engineers may advance to become technical specialists or to supervise a staff or team of engineers and technicians. Some eventually become engineering managers or enter other managerial or sales jobs.
Obstacles had never been obstructing my effort to succeed in life. As an engineer to be, it is important to me to be prepared for the hurdles in the real world. The world nowadays needs a person who could compete and has great abilities to stand on the same level as others. Multiple skills and critical opinion of an issue are essential for an engineer to jump into this challenging career. For me, a strategic planning and full preparation need to achieve the aim of being an expert engineer.
In the most basic sense, engineering means “making things happen.” It is the practical application of science and math, the two subjects I am most passionate about, to solve everyday problems. It opens up a world of opportunity to create innovative technology that influences many aspects of people’s lives, this giving an individual the power to make a difference. While I am deeply interested in the subjects that are the foundation of engineering, in addition I have many other personal reasons for pursuing civil engineering in specific. I am motivated by my desire to fulfill my lifelong goal of creating purposeful infrastructure, to make all of my family proud, and to prove that not all engineers
Engineering is a good fit for me because it involves lots of math and problem solving which are two of my favorite things to do. Also I am good at working with my hands and with other people. Mechanical engineering requires a good understanding of math and science
