With a college education, a person’s life can change significantly. Because of globalization, technology and the fact that everyone is competing for a job, having a college degree with a combination of soft skills can place you above one’s competitors. Having a college degree does not guarantee a job, however, it makes an individual more marketable to an employer. On the other hand college graduates seem to be having difficulties in finding jobs for the skills they have learned, and many are not equipped with basic skills that can aid their future accomplishment which is referred to as soft skills. Base on the shift in economy soft skills is very crucial to employers now. Because of outsourcing many routine tasks and the job that remains often requires that employees are equipped with soft skills. Because of globalization, there is competition for the right candidate with the right mix of soft skills. Soft skills are very important to a company, that they are investing more time and capital sometimes hiring consultants in order to tease out applicant’s personality traits. Some companies are going as far as to hire an industrial psychologies to help to identify traits of its top performing employees and also develop a test for job candidates to determine how closely employees fit the bill.
