Social Media and Modern
Technology & Genetic Testing
Everday we come into contact with social media and everyday it becomes more involved in our life. So much that it has an influence in our social, political and culture in major ways. Its almost unheard of now a days for some not to have a Facebook page or some type of online profile. Genetic testing is become more and more prevalent, and is allowing us to recognize genes that’s can cause diseases even before birth. To many its a good thing but to others its just the beginning of a downfall.
Genetic testing today is done on animals, humans and even plants. Most of our meats and fast food restaurants meats are genetically altered weather its processed or using modified feed or food to build up the animal. Some people believe that genetic engineering has gone to far and that there Is no need for it. Ronnie Cummins director of the Organic Consumers Association says “There’s no good reason to do it, he opposes all genetically modified organisms.“Does it increase the quantity of food? No. Does it make crops use less pesticides? No. Does it make animals healthier, happier? No.” A policy that doesn’t require labeling undermines the confidence in the technology. It looks like they’ve got something to hide,” says Margaret Mellon, the director of the food and environment program for the Union of Concerned Scientists. Both bring up good points which leads to the question why do they still do it. A case in which genetic testing of a embryo was helping Amanda Baxley and her unborn find out if she carried a rare neurological disease that had stalked her family for generations. Genetic testing of embryos has been around for more then a decade. This kind of testing is used more to fin...

In Conclusion social media plays a role in our society today. We can not function with out it. Social media has also open up the doors for many subjects and ideas to be heard. Like the topic of genetic testing, will it eventually be our downfall? What will a human be defined as if we continue to allow it to happen. Things to think about next time when your on your social media profile.

The Human Genome Project is the largest scientific endeavor undertaken since the Manhattan Project, and, as with the Manhattan Project, the completion of the Human Genome Project has brought to surface many moral and ethical issues concerning the use of the knowledge gained from the project. Although genetic tests for certain diseases have been available for 15 years (Ridley, 1999), the completion of the Human Genome Project will certainly lead to an exponential increase in the number of genetic tests available. Therefore, before genetic testing becomes a routine part of a visit to a doctor's office, the two main questions at the heart of the controversy surrounding genetic testing must be addressed: When should genetic testing be used? And who should have access to the results of genetic tests? As I intend to show, genetic tests should only be used for treatable diseases, and individuals should have the freedom to decide who has access to their test results.
In today’s world, people are learning a great deal in the rapidly growing and developing fields of science and technology. Almost each day, an individual can see or hear about new discoveries and advances in these fields of study. One science that is rapidly progressing is genetic testing; a valuable science that promotes prevention efforts for genetically susceptible people and provides new strategies for disease management. Unnaturally, and morally wrong, genetic testing is a controversial science that manipulates human ethics. Although genetic testing has enormous advantages, the uncertainties of genetic testing will depreciate our quality of life, and thereby result in psychological burden, discrimination, and abortion.

Many people have access to social media daily. Sometimes people do not even think about how much they rely on social media. Many jobs would not exist if it were not for the social media; jobs like computer repair and even the people who created the computer and social media websites would not have jobs. People of today need to take a moment and realize and think about if all this social media use is
Social media has impacted everyone that has used it at some point in his or her life. Since the world is increasing in technology advances, so is social media, which can be good and bad. Technology has made a huge difference in the world and definitely how people are doing things now. Yes, the Internet can be good for the majority of things we use it for, such as doing research, keeping in touch with family or friends who are far away, and saving time and money. Others like to take advantage of social media and use it in a way that can hurt people; it may not hurt them physically, but it can hurt them emotionally.
I find social media a perfect way to stay in the loop of what is going on with my friends. Although Eva likes to post pictures of her favorite celebrities, I enjoy using twitter to stay up to date on my favorite sports teams and players. We all can agree that although we do not post selfies or constantly update social media on what we are doing at that very moment, we enjoy benefits social media gives us.
When you think about social media what do you think of. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Vine. Well social media is more than that. Social media is not just Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Social media is any online website that lets you interact with other people, share photo and information and keeps you updated. Or do you think about how it’s made a positive or negative impact on today’s society. In my personal opinion I think social media has made both positive and negatives impacts on today’s society .Some of the negative impacts are cyberbullying and addiction, and the positive impacts are spreading the word and increasing business sales.
It is wise for one to be skeptical of new technology, when this technology is untested. However, if these ideas and products are then proven to be safe and beneficial, it is important to accept them, to continue the evolution and betterment of the human race. Sometimes it is hard for a society to accept a radical technological change, as is the case with genetic engineering. Despite decades of studies and implementation of genetically modified organisms without a single case of health or safety issues, environmental groups and many governments vehemently oppose genetically modified foods (Reville). This fear is based off of inaccurate science or no science at all, and is restricting the implementation of hugely beneficial technology. Extensive research into this subject has come to one conclusion. Genetically modified foods have a positive impact on society and the environment.
...the world to see. Though this may be great and all, it doesn’t equal out to the damage is does to people’s lives. There are so many bad people in this world; unfortunately they ruin social media by causing unwanted drama, and bullying. Without social media, we wouldn’t have to constantly check on there to make sure nobody was saying anything bad about that, or nobody was talking about this, and even to make sure nobody was talking bad about you.
This research paper is going to be about how social media impacts an individual. Then it is going to be about how much of an impact it has on businesses. Afterwards, we are going to go over the pros and the cons of social media in society. Then this research paper is going to conclude on where social media is heading towards in the near future and so on. Social media can impact the life of an individual at many levels.
Nowadays, social media is growing very rapidly throughout the whole world. Social media has changed the way that we communicate with others through using these common social networking sites like Face book, Twitter, and Instagram…For that, social media has positively and negatively impacted our life.
Think of a time when people didn’t have technology and how they had to interact, whether it had been from writing letters to using telegraphs, communicating with people was hard to come by back then. Of course times have changed and now technology has made it easier over the years, social media has become an essential part of our life whether it be on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and many other websites. Now days everybody is using it whether its companies using media to promote its products or even teachers to tweet out what last night’s homework was. Social media is a great tool that helps us connect with the world and communicate our ideas. Yet there are some people who believe that social media has a negative impact towards our society as they believe that people can get addicted to it, it causes them to get easily distracted, and many other dangers. Even though people have different opinions on whether social media has a positive or negative impact on society, it can be said that social media has a positive effect on society as a whole because it lets people communicate with each other easily, it has been said to improve education among children, and has helped improve the economy in the world.
Social media is a controversy topic in today’s society. Some people think that social media destroys human interaction and real life human relationships. While others think that social media is a bless to humanity. Social media makes human interaction much more convenient and much faster than real life human interaction, it makes globalization a reality, it gives a chance for introverted people to express themselves, and it also benefit develop international relationships whether its business or social.
