Social media has become one of the most worldwide forms of communication technology. Social media has provided countless advantages to many communities including the NFL. While it has provided multiple opportunities, it also has challenged the tradition of sports and has interfered in the lives of athletes. Being able to get direct access to player’s lives has caused fans to appreciate social media due to the feeling of a personal bond. Unfortunately, some fans abuse this privilege and the innovation and advancements of technology used in the community of the NFL has made some bad turns due to bad publicity. Social media has become a term so widely used that people have a hard time determining what “social media” really is, so Kaplan and Haenlein try to clarify this in their article. Not only do they clarify the term “social media” they give advice for companies that use social media as a tool. Pujazon-Zazik and Park took a different approach at defining social media. This article shows how the media is an indefinite creator of opinions that veers its information toward the public. These two authors show this by discussing topics such as media psychology, advertising, persuasion, etc, using the topic "Women in media". It advertises media as a sort of manipulation with both positive and negative effects. Researchers such as Wells conducted research on sport and broadcast news. They regularly discuss stories such as collegiate scandals, which athlete is the newest to be accused of doping, a referee fixing an event and the many parents who are seen to be “out of control” at youth sporting events.
