Zooming down the mountain with the wind blowing against your face while carving the board onto the surface of the snow. Swiftly making my way down the hill, the huge sign gleaming with lights said, “ Welcome to Vermont’s ski resort”. This year my family and I took an exciting car ride all the way down to the beautiful mountains of Vermont. Alongside with us were my uncles and cousins. Thankfully the weather was not freezing cold as usual. Sometimes the weather could become so astringent on the mountains that it ruins the enjoyment of zooming down the layers of snow.
“ Everybody ready for an exciting week on the slopes”, my uncle said. Everybody screamed yes and got ready to hit the mountain. Snowboarding is a physical activity that anyone who has an aptitude for winter sports. To become a snowboarder takes courage and skill to master. If someone is inept in physical sports, it may be harder for them to learn. Before hitting the mountains it is better to stretch before because if the muscles are stringent it could lead to painful cramps. After that my family and I like to compete in races when we snowboard together. My uncle’s ability to gain speed and make sharp turns helps him subjugate the competition. The only way I would be able to win the race is if I played smart. On the way down the mountain I took the shortcut where the juncture of two trails

That’s why you won “, my uncle said.
“ You may be fast, but I am smarter”, I said with pride.
Usually most people have interesting perks to their board. My board is vibrant and unique because there are many adjunct items I equipped such as LED lights and scenic pictures. While I was snowboarding, one of my stickers did not cohere properly and flew off.
While my family all took a break I decided to go on one more trail before lunch. My pertinacious cousins believed I was not prepared for the expert trail.
“ This is my last injunction I’m giving you to abstain from the expert trails”, my cousin
In snowboard as in any other sport the athlete has to be thinking at all times, analyzing the situation that surrounds you, make split decisions, and even perform quick calculations in your head.
Throughout time, the progression and evolution of snowboarding has increased greatly. It has gone from non existence in the late 1970’s, to one of the most watched action sports in a matter of thirty-five years. The upward takeoff and popularity of snowboarding relies on two people, Jake Burton and Shaun White. Jake Burton back in 1977 had the vision for what snowboarding would be, but Shaun White had what it took to manifest that vision. Evidence has shown that time brings change in sports, history has repeated itself with snowboarding, this history reflects the time & changes that has occurred in America.
The sport of mountain biking is one of the best active sports you can do for a number of fitness reasons and depending on what style of mountain biking you partake in, it can be also a great deal of fun as well as keeping you fit at the same time. People are usually unaware of how may muscles you use when riding a mountain bike, and how quickly you can burn calories off riding a bike as it can be an extremely good work out for the body. If you plan on riding cross-country along different styles of trails, riding a bike can be quite a task. Imagine being on the top of the world, on a bitter cold mountain, over top of an enormous crowd. Below where you stand, the lustrous lights are shining on a massive jump, that seems larger than the mountain itself, created for the professional snowboard competition. This gargantuan jump will decide whether you win or lose the competition. Becoming a professional snowboarder has been a dream to me ever since I first was beginning to snowboard. Being on top of the enormous slope and strapping into my bindings instantly made me relaxed and put a grin larger than the slope itself on my face. Everytime I glide down the face of the mountain I become focused and dialed in on my riding. When becoming a professional snowboarder as an occupation, I would
If you’ve read The Brave Ski Mom for any duration of time, you’ve probably observed that our whole family wears helmets: ski helmets, bike helmets, hockey helmets, lacrosse helmets and helmets while skateboarding. If we climbed, we’d wear helmets then, too. We LOVE helmets.
Interestingly enough, snowboarding was invented by Sherman Poppen in North Muskegon, Michigan, back in 1965. Nowadays, snowboarding is considered one of the most popular winter sports among teenagers. On the other hand, there are many people that don’t have the slightest idea how to ride a snowboard straight down a hill. There are four steps to learn the basic skills of snowboarding.
Snow is a concept that only a few people really know about. It seems like most people hate snow with a burning passion. However, the true northerners praise every day that it snows; mostly because it does not happen a lot. At one point everyone that participates in a snow sport has to hope that it will snow every winter. Unfortunately, our hopes and dreams do not always come true. That was why snowmaking was developed in the 1980s and has been upgraded every year so maximum snow production is possible. The first reason was to fill in the gaps that Mother Nature left out. However, now the amount of snow we receive is drastically less than what it used to be. Instead of making snow to fill in the gaps, we have to make most of the snow we ski
A few winters ago, some friends invited my family and me to go snow skiing at Paoli Peaks, Indiana. I did not know how to snow ski, and I leaped at the thought of trying this new sport. On the first morning we entered the pro shop to rent all the gear and make decisions about whether or not to take lessons or go it alone. We decided to be adventurous and go it alone—no lessons. Kent and Celeste, the friends who invited us, knew how to ski and snowboard. He assured us that he could show us the basics, and we would be on our way down the slopes. All of us, after a few minutes learning how to wedge our skis started down the family trail. Although the family trail had smaller hills and appeared safe, to me it seemed way
These past few summers I have been spending a lot more time in the water, whether it be jet skiing in Vietnam or kayaking in the waters of Florida, I have enjoyed every minute of it all. I always like watching surfers out in the waves and because of how great they make it look, I want to give it a try. Hence the reason why it is on my bucket list. Prior to surfing, there are many things I will need to gain knowledge on such as the gear, dangers, precautions, and much more. In order for me to check it off my bucket list, I will need to procure all of this information. Surfing is not just all fun and games, it is a serious sport, and to really enjoy it, I have to make sure that I am doing it right.
At the age of 15, Amy Purdy decided that she loved to snowboard. When she started snowboarding, she learned to have confidence in herself and love all the great things about life. Before Amy lost her legs, she was a massage therapist who loved to snowboard and wanted to see the world. With her future changed, Amy was still determined to do the same things she did before, but just differently. She knew she couldn’t quit, because quitting meant giving up things that were most important in her life. While Amy was in the hospital, she claims her doctor said, whatever you believe in, think about it right now. When that happened, Amy thought in her head about love. She believed in loving life, loving each other, and loving to snowboard. Now, this is what inspires her today. Even though she loved snowboarding, she never thought about going to the Olympics until after she lost her legs. She went to the 2014 Sochi Paralympics and won a bronze medal. She also started Adaptive Action Sports to create opportunities for people with physical disabilities...
Its amazing how a sport can be taken from being called “the next big failure” to being a Winter Olympic sport in the span of just a decade. The journey to make snowboarding considered a ligament sport was long and hard, but with pioneers such as Sherman Poppen, Tom Sims, and Jake Burton it was well accomplished. Snowboarding made its Winter Olympic debut with the giant slalom, and the halfpipe event in 1998. Todd Richards spoke for snowboarders around the world when he said, “"We have been on this crazy quest for legitimacy for so long. The Olympics are going to bring a legitimacy into this sport like no one can comprehend.”” (Shipley) Finally, snowboarders everywhere have gotten the legitimacy they deserve.
Snowboarding is a new sport that is very challenging and exhilarating and is attracting new fans all around the world. Snowboarding has really changed since it was first invented. It has become one of the fastest growing sports in America and the world.

The warm summer breeze hitting my face and my best friends beside me, what could be better? Crusin’ down the sidewalk with the beach on your side, or possibly even the columbia river cause you're on the waterfront. Skateboarding is the absolute best thing to do and I don't see how anyone could disagree. I love to skateboard because I reach a point in my mind that makes me feel the freest I can feel. I enjoy the simple and peaceful things in life and skateboarding gives me just that.
Challenge plays an essential role in defining a sport; it provides the individual with the feeling of achievement in success. Skiing poses challenge even in its simplest foundations. Skiing on a poor quality hill, with icy snow and poor upkeep can sometimes create more challenge than a well-groomed slope. Skiing in the backcountry away from lifts and other people in freshly fallen snow provides an opportunity for the best of skiers to test t...
