Snow days are always great, but they also come with positives and negatives. The positive side to having a snow day includes sleeping in, catching up on work, having a home-cooked meal, and playing in the snow. Hear are examples of my positive side of an snow day. I enjoyed sleeping in until 10 p.m., EST time, and not having to wake up to the sounds of breaking glass. After I showered and dressed, I started to catch up on my homework, so I can come to class fully prepared. The best part of a snow day, is playing in the snow; for example, snowball fights, sliding on ice, building a snowman or fort, and taking lots of pictures in the snow. At end of the day, me and my roomate, Debra-Joe, decided to cook smothered grilled chicken with cheese and
mushrooms on top. I enjoyed every minute of my snow day. With having positives of a snow day, there always a negative to it. The negative side of having a snow day involves the absence of school, road hazard, and freezing. The absence of school is a no brainer on why having a snow day is negative; for example, we are on a particular set schedule on when we will graduate, and missing a few days of school could cause a domino effect on schedule. The great snow storm of Charlotte, NC caused the roads to transform into a ice skating rink, turning the roads into death trap, but luckily I was walk away from any store. The worst part of a snow day is freezing, as if Jack Frost is next you; for example, after having fun in the snow, and cant feel your hands or feet. Snow days are great have, but they have come with consequences.
“Winter Evening” by Archibald Lampman, and “Stories of Snow” by P.K Page are two poems describing the human experience of winter. Winter is seen, by some, to be blissful, magical and serene. Winter could also be described as pure and heavenly, with the white snow resembling clouds. However, others have a contrasting viewpoint; they paint winter in harsher light, giving the impression that winter is bitter and ruthless. Others still, have a mixed viewpoint and may recognize both the positives and negatives to the season.

Do you know that, in order to complete a year of school in the events of a snow day we have to go to the thirtieth of June? We have had about nine snow days which means the last day of school would be the twentieth of June with more snow storms scheduled in the future. Since this would be last day of school, this means we have only approximately two months of summer vacation until school starts again. The snow days should not be made up because, it would interfere with people’s summer plans, our summer needs to be longer and transportational issues.
Life was brutal and deadly for the the Continental Army who were at the dreadful winter at Valley Forge. Winter at Valley Forge is a turning point because it was a place of death and diseases which were spreading at a super fast pace. The men of the Army suffered badly from the cold and had nearly nothing to eat or wear. But the troops didn’t quit, they worked harder and harder which made the Winter at Valley Forge a turning point of the Revolutionary War.
The harsh winters at Valley Forge were a time when men were separated from the weak. Valley Forge was located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was where George Washington built a camp for his soldiers to stay and train in the winter of 1777-1778. If I was a soldier at Valley Forge I would not have reenlisted once my term ended because poor conditions were too much to bare, the chance of catching an illness or dying was too high, and there was no support from the congressmen.
Snow is a concept that only a few people really know about. It seems like most people hate snow with a burning passion. However, the true northerners praise every day that it snows; mostly because it does not happen a lot. At one point everyone that participates in a snow sport has to hope that it will snow every winter. Unfortunately, our hopes and dreams do not always come true. That was why snowmaking was developed in the 1980s and has been upgraded every year so maximum snow production is possible. The first reason was to fill in the gaps that Mother Nature left out. However, now the amount of snow we receive is drastically less than what it used to be. Instead of making snow to fill in the gaps, we have to make most of the snow we ski
If you can’t tell snowmobiling is a huge part of my life. It’s a good way to lose weight and have fun. You can see who is the best of the best in your group and see who the weak one is that day, but always be safe and don’t go riding by yourself and not tell no one. Start young and ride till you die and always be

In light of the climatic conditions in my general vicinity Snow storms are inclined to be happened oftentimes. The primary Natural calamity in the whole Central America is a snow storm. Indeed there is a possibility of event of tremors. Anyway by watching the atmosphere from past decades there is a less risk of event of seismic tremors. Despite the fact that such seismic tremors happen the force that is recorded is low. Fortunately there are no volcanoes in the range. So there is no statement for the volcanic ejections to happen. The small town of San Piedro Island is blanketed in snow, cedar trees are viciously swaying in the December air. All the white covered streets are quiet and empty. But, inside San Piedro’s cramped and hot courtroom; Kabuo Miyamoto, a fisherman, is on trial for the drowning of Carl Heine. As Miyamoto’s trial develops, it soon becomes clear, through the deterioration of Miyamoto’s rigid grace, there is more at stake than a murder trial. In Snow Falling on Cedars, memories flood the courtroom: Ripe strawberry fields, thick cedar trees, a love affair between a white boy and a Japanese girl, who becomes Mrs. Miyamoto; the gain and the loss of 7 acres
Robert Hayden writes in his poem, “Those Winter Sundays,” from the perspective of an adult reflecting on his relationship with his father through his childhood. Using reflective poetic devices such as imagery, contrasts, and parallels, Hayden conveys the overall theme of guilt and regret. Initially, Hayden employs the use of imagery as a descriptive device to begin to develop the overall theme of guilt and regret. Visual imagery is first employed when the speaker acknowledges that his father awoke in the “black blue cold,” (line 2) possessing “cracked hands that ached,” (line 3).
In winter, there are many great activities to do and play. First, winter contains something that no other season contains which is snow. A numerous amount of people like to play in the snow and play a variety of games. They are making a snowman, having a snowball fight, or even making snow angles. Then, there are more games to play that involve snow like skiing, hockey, even snowboarding. There are also some people who have never seen snow so they eventually become fascinated with it.Winter can make people feel a variety of emotions and make “your mood lighten up”
First thing you should do when preparing to drive in the winter is update your tires to snow tires, also driving in the winter may cause snow banks to block parts of your city where you normally drive through which means you must find a new way to your destination, which can be very inconvenient if you are in a rush. In cold weather you have to let your car warm up, if you have an automatic transmission, and you start and just take right off... It can harm your transmission. In the winter the roads will be slippery and black ice will be present, Black ice is a transparent coating of ice, found especially on a road or other paved surface and can be very dangerous, this is why you must drive cautiously and try not to stomp on the brakes for any reason you should always pump the brakes instead, and if needed may drive a little below the speed limit. Some things I like about driving in the winter is being able to go to bright nights, being able to experience the beautiful site my city has created for my family and I to enjoy is amazing. Another great thing about driving in the winter is if you happen to skid you most likely are going to crash into a fluffy bank of
Blizzards cause very dangerous conditions for everyone to handle and you need to stay home when you get an alert or see the weather is going to be bad because, if you do not you could be one of the people that get stuck out there and could end up with hypothermia or with your car flipped over while you are in it. Also, make sure the pipes in your houses are insulated or heated by something because if a blizzard came you could have a chance of your pipes bursting and causing a lot of expensive damage and not only that but a huge mess. Blizzards are very dangerous because they are life threatening conditions, do not allow anyone to travel anywhere, and what it causes everyone have to deal with during the blizzard and with the aftermath of the
The snow fell from the sky, as if each individual snowflake had its own free will and thoughts. The frozen water drops covered the overcoats of various citizens in Germany. It wasn’t necessarily a cold day, but various citizens rushed from one street to another. Doors opened and closed with force and determination. Everyone was hurrying to get their Christmas shopping done. It was a good idea to do it that day, on the 18th of December, seeing as the popular toys or records were flying off the shelves. Money changed hands as quickly as the snow fell, but even with all the rush, there was still at least some kindness and generosity shown between the rushed citizens.
