Generations change through out time, they each have different qualities that separate them from the generations before. Social Media seems to be taking over people’s lives in the mid-2010’s. According to resources they are the first generation to have lifelong connection to the internet. They have access to websites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. Websites that are able to travel at the speed of light. These websites seem to be an outlet for people’s thoughts and opinions on various topics. Posted on his Facebook & Twitter bio he is entrepreneur and owns a mobile application dedicated to selling sneakers called Snickets. Most of his followers on all of his accounts are Sneakerheads. Sneakerheads is just another nick name for people who love sneakers and/or collects them (Complex Sneakers). “The Dumbest Generation” is a title no group of people want to behold. Nonetheless, people under age thirty have been given this belittling title. To those who go off questions about obsolete general knowledge rather than the ability to take in and evaluate knowledge, this title may seem quite fitting. However, Millennials aren’t quite as dull as they’ve been perceived to be. According to Sinek, a millennial is a person born approximately between 1984-2000. Throughout the Interview, Simon is very zealous, empathetic, apologetic, and humorous. As might be expected, the millennial generations as a whole are passionate about the technological and communication advances in the past decade with the internet and social media. “A new Pew Internet Project report reveals that 93% of young adult’s ages 18‐29 are online” (Andrew January 14 to 27, 2010). This allows access for marketer’s access to the generation in a different way than previous generations.
Do we value online popularity the same way or more than we value real-life interactions? How could this affect the mental health of those who use these networking sites? Is this kind of online community promoting more narcissistic people in the community? So many questions. I’m not alone in asking these questions.

In his May 2013 editorial for Time Magazine, “Millennials: The Me Me Me Generation,” Joel Stein explains his viewpoint on millennials, defined as people born 1980 through 2000. Using an occasionally humorous tone, Stein summarizes the typical bleak view that older people have for the younger generation, before offering what he believes is closer to the truth. In the end, he decides that while millennials are not without their flaws and vices, a lot of the fears that older people are mostly due to the advanced technology that we are now dealing with. By the end of the article, it is my opinion that Stein makes a very fair summarization and is correct in his idea that to write off the entire generation is unfair towards younger people.

We can share our lives with those around us, and at the same time see what others are doing as well. People can keep in touch with their family and loved ones with all of the social networking sites available, or make new friends through these sites. People can talk to their relatives that are stationed in the military using video chat services such as Facetime and Skype, which is a vital way for people to keep in touch with their loved ones while away on duty. Social networking sites are also a way for us to meet new people and interact with them. It helps a lot of people that don't have friends in their daily life to have friends through social media such as Facebook and Twitter....

Facebook, is the Social Media platform that has captured this generation. It is Universal. If an account for Facebook is not owned then that individual is defamed. Without Facebook, this individual will be missing out on status updates and pictures from their friends. In the eyes of a millennial this individual would be unsocial. Facebook is popular because of the way it connects users with their friends.
Social media merged into people’s daily lives in many ways. The younger generation learn and adapt more easily with the fast-paced innovation of technologies, so that they can be more active when getting involved with virtual society created by people who are using the social media applications, such as Facebook, Forums, MSN, etc. As to the middle age individuals, even though some of they are unkindly to some social media tools like Facebook, due to privacy concerns. They are still using other kinds of social media applications to some degree, and take keen interest in using them, as the applications are more convenience then the traditional ways of exchanging information, like e-mails and short text messages. However, compared with the individual users below 55 years old, the percentage of that above 55 years old and still using social media in New Zealand is usually around 30% or less (see Figure 1 below.
The new generation only know how to function with technology and nothing else. I remember when I was a child, I would enjoy playing outside. Now kids are starting very young using phones and tablets. We have an epidemic of minors using social media for all the wrong reasons. I believe technology has taken over and is here to stay.
Both of these places allow people to have discussions of all kinds and for a variety of reasons. Some people may think that an online community is where they met their significant others. Other people think an online community allows them to find the house or car of his dream. Also, people will ask for advice or ideas about something that is going on in life.
