Online Communities
Online communities seem to be very popular these days. I feel there is two different types of online communities. One type is where people converse during real time, meaning an individual could typically ask a question and will receive an immediate response from someone else. The immediate responses result in a dialogue between two or more people. Bulletin Boards are also popular because they are similar to an online community. The bulletin boards allow people to share ideas. To my understanding, the main difference between the two is that someone posts an idea on the board, and another person responds to the inquiry or statement by posting his response.
Both of these places allow people to have discussions of all kinds and for a variety of reasons. Some people may think that an online community is where they met their significant others. Other people think an online community allows them to find the house or car of his dream. Also, people will ask for advice or ideas about something that is going on in life.
There are advantages and disadvantages in chatting with communities. Some of the advantages are as follows: people are connected with the world and the diversity of people; people are able to find out other people's interests and ideas; people can learn about a different person's perspective. Some disadvantages in chatting with communities are as follows: people can learn how scary and different people really are; people can lie to you with out you even knowing the truth. I have had personal experience with chat communities and I have found great success.
I have used chat communities for educational purposes. When I have chatted with communities I felt at ease. For example instead of having a class discussion I chatted with my classmates online. This way of discussing ideas was neat, because at first I did not know who I was talking to, then eventually I did figure out who I was chatting with. Another reason why I have enjoyed chat room discussions versus in class discussions is because people had the opportunity to speak their minds over the computer and they were not hesitant or shy. People did not have to face humiliation from the teacher or other classmates by their vocal answer. Chat rooms allow everyone to be able to participate and get involved in the class.
In our society, technology has changed drastically especially when comes to social media. Social media has their positive and negative parts. The positive thing that social media is good for is that you can make relationships why communicating with each other while online. This where relationships begin. The one negative thing about having a social media is that it can lead to addiction.
It has many applications beyond what gamers use it for. You can communicate with family and friends with little effort. You can take online courses and have face-to-face discussions with a professor across the country. It really is a technological wonder. Especially in these times when it is sometimes expensive and difficult to find yourself on a university campus. By participating in the gaming discourse community, you learn how to use these programs and can apply those skills to real world applications. It is definitely beneficial to be familiar and comfortable with the technology and skills you use during an academic career and the rest of your life. It provides an edge above others and allows you to feel comfortable even while you are pushing yourself outside of your comfort

Adam Briggle also talks about how on online friendships in his article Real friends: how the internet can foster friendship. He states that we can sell our best quality and hide or not show the weaker side of ourselves, whereas in face-face friendships we may not be able to hide those negative traits about ourselves and they may just come out without our knowledge. This being said gives us or the internet user full control on how and what they what to share with other individuals online. (Briggle, 2008, p.

Ever since the beginning of time, the world’s inhabitants have been dating or been in a relationship with other people. Without these relationships, the world would have never survived and everyone would not be alive today. Even though it has been millions of years since the creation of this planet we call Earth.
As with most life transitions, divorce can be liberating, depressing, frustrating, or traumatic to any person who experiences it. Perhaps the most painful part on the process of divorce is when the children get involved and when they all get trapped in the situation. These children may suffer significant losses in their lives and unless the situation can be handled in a civil manner, they will become prone to the psychological torment that could affect them for the rest of their lives. The issue of divorce however is becoming more and more intense since for the past ten years the divorce rate in the United States has skyrocketed to a record high of almost fifty- percent. It is also believed that the divorce rate in the United States is the highest in the world and the reason for this are primarily the ever-changing role of the husbands and wives in their household, early marriage, infidelity, extra marital affairs, domestic violence, financial instability and psychological incapacity.
Divorce, in history, has always been considered as a deviance of society. However, in the modern world, where people have senses of individualism, divorce has become a phenomenon. There are numerous reasons for divorce, from not knowing each other well enough before marriage, lack of money, long distance relationships, frequent disagreements to partners...

Conversation is ultimately very beneficial to a community. It helps people to form bonds with each other and to make strangers feel like friends. This type of talk engages the mind and can improve relations with other people. Conversation brings together people that have common interests, but also welcomes those of different interests or
“First comes to love, then comes marriage, then comes -- the big divorce party?” (Gagnon 124) Marriage can be a beautiful thing, but some couples are unable to maintain their relationship, because they choose divorce as a solution to cope with the problems between husband and wife. Divorce is definitely on the rise. The usual explanations are communication, balance, and commitment, and it's hard to disagree with them. Although age is assumed to be the main element of divorce, research indicates that there are more explanations for divorce.
Relationships are all about give and take, and to maintain that balance people must be willing to do the work. Today dissolution of marriage is being used as the easy way out when couples no longer agree. When couples are incapable of maintaining a happy marriage, a divorce can be agreed upon. Divorce is more common nowadays, making the divorce rate a continual increase. About 40 to 50 percent of married couples in the United States divorce (Kazdin). In America, there is one divorce every 13 seconds. That’s 6,646 divorces per day, and 46,523 divorce per week (Irvin). The three main causes of divorce is the lack of communication, financial difficulties, and infidelity.

Contrary to it, if we go toward online social spaces, "the online world can be far more muted"(Fisher 2003). There are social groups established online with their shared history. One can even not state that the person he/she is talking is the same one whose name is there or any other person. The mood and tone cannot be judged.
