There is a huge difference between the Writing in my own country and that in American. As an international student, I have to balance this culture shock. During one year in global pathway, I definitely have learned a lot about how to be a good writer and reader. The most important success I have made is that widely using the quotation in my essay, which is seems as part of the god classical American essay. I did change a lot about how to write a correct quotation. And then, use the quotation to talk about my topic more deeply.
Here I have a comparison of my quotation using in my prior essay and recent one, between final draft of Singer Position paper and my rewritten of it. It can clearly show us the difference between them and the improvement I have made. First, in the final draft of Singer Position paper, I did not do well in the organization, format and explanation of a quotation. I wrote,“ What’s more, Singer holds an opinion which is that living high and letting die. As what the end of the story Bob says, ' The child is killed. For many years to come, Bob enjoys owning his Bugatti and the financial security it represents.' In such short words, Singer greatly satirizes Bob’s behavior which is heinous. It is possible to say that Singer feels a little bit helpless about human’s nature. He pointed out that selfish gradually change and control people’s mind.” I show the original sentence and analyze that Bob who is character in the reading material did a wrong decision for his selfish. However, the most important thing I lost is to rephrase the original sentence. Also, the format is terrible. I even forgot write down the page number. On the other hand, I decided to ask my instructor if I can rewrite it, I began to write a quotati...

...t。 Singer Position Paper, I got a very low score. Even so, I still want to praise myself for being brave enough to ask if I can rewrite it, which is considered to be the most important step for my improvement. Then I used one hour to work on this essay after class. At the same time, I signed up for the writing tutor online, used my free time to meet with the tutor and fixed it at home as soon as possible. Above all I gradually improved myself. So, I become more and more self-conscious and responsible for the study of writing which I didn't have enough before.
To sum up, the most useful success I made is writing a good quotation. The last but not least, I never hesitate to talk with instructor and being active about my study. Theses not only writing skills, but also are correct attitude of study. I believe I can do even much better in the following four years' stud
I am more knowledgeable about invention, arrangement, style, and delivery, all in which create a masterful piece of text. A few examples, I have learned to organize and construct my thoughts and ideas clearer. I have been taught to use stronger transitions and focus more on the delivery and content of the body element of essays. Further, the instructions and advice I have received throughout this term have influenced my understanding of the purpose of writing. My outlook on writing has been modified by shifting my perception of writing from, writing to prove I am a good writer by perceiving it as using “fluffy” or BIG words to impress my audience. I grew to understanding that good writing’s purpose is to engage the writer by mind-striking ideas and arguments, which therefore will prove and title me as a “good writer”.
As I look back into my high school years, I thought I wrote papers well. But then coming into a college environment, my papers were mediocre. By overlooking at my past papers, I found that they were unorganized, sloppy and had bad use of diction. From now on, I will use the tools I learned in English 1100-40 as a foundation for the future papers I intend on writing in college. Following the criteria of organizing ideas so that they flow, impacting the reader with diction and also by being creative, will help become an ideal writer. Following the criteria of staying motivated in short and long term goals, taking responsibility for actions and finally the ability to study well will help me develop into a supreme student.
My development as a writer has flourished throughout this semester. The first week of this fall semester started out with writing responses from our readings in the textbook. Looking back through and analyzing my reading responses at the semester to now; I noticed a substantial improvement in not only my grammar skills, but also my summarizing, and in-depth studying of writing adeptness. Another way I have progressed this semester is the vocabulary of my writing has significantly improved and become more scholarly. Another advancement I noticed was that the content of my work has matured, along with my organizational adeptness.
In this semester, I had to take the English 1301 course. However, I did not see myself liking this course and did not have the best attitude towards it. This course changed my overall experience with writing. In the course I gained so much knowledge that I did not see myself learning. This essay will help analyze my experience throughout the entire journey. It will help understand how I became the writer I am today. Over the last several weeks, I have grown into a great writer that I did not see myself as.
As a second language learner I have never expected myself to be a perfect writer throughout the semester. Even If English was my first language still, I would not be a perfect writer. It is not about first or second language, it is about how well I understand the learning objectives. Then organizing and writing with my own ideas and putting them in my paper. I am going to be honest, I am not good at English subject and English subject is my strongest weakness than the other subjects. In this paper I will discuss and analyze my own writing, reflecting on the ways that my writing has improved throughout the semester.
Throughout this semester I have learned many ways of writing through two main essays literacy narrative and comparison and contrast. These two essays have taught me how to correctly fix my comma splices, thesis statements, and capitalization. I have engaged in numerous learning material during this summer class. Many times when I thought it would be hard to work on those three developments I never gave up. I gain more positive feedback from my teacher because he pointed out most of my mistakes I made on both literacy narrative and comparison and contrast essays to help me understand what is it that I need to work on. My development as a writer became stronger.
What are some types of Rand B music that stands out in the world? In this essay I would be discussing three types of Rand B music; rhythm and blues, contemporary r and b, and r and b soul. Rhythm and blues regularly abbreviated as R&B, is a classification of popular African American music that started in the 1940s. Music can sooth the soul if one listens to different kinds of R&B music. In this essay, I would like to discuss the different categories of R&B music. There are many types of music in the world however, the one that stands out in everyone's brain is the sound of rhythm and blues. It has been around for a very long time. As my English 101 class comes to an end, I have realized how much I have transformed as a writer. In this essay, I am going to explain what I realized my strengths and weaknesses are as a writer and how they have manifested themselves throughout the quarter. I was skeptical at first coming into this class knowing that English takes formidable work and dedication, but I am very proud of the progress I have made. We completed a great deal of work throughout the quarter; from grammar exercises, summary reviews, and two challenging essays. Throughout the quarter I found myself improving in each category. As a writer, my skills and confidence have developed into more clarity and thought, something I have always wanted to be, as a result of a well constructed class that led to a superb educational experience.
Over the course of the semester, I feel that I have grown as a writer in many ways. When I came into the class, there were skills I had that I already excelled at. During my time in class, I have come to improve on those skills even more. Before I took this class, I didn’t even realise what I was good at. This is the first class where I felt I received feedback on my writing that helped me to actually review my work to see what areas I lacked in and where I succeeded.

Based on my collection of essays in this portfolio, I am confident that I can pass the class and receive Clear
One skill that I wish I had time to improve on is citing sources in MLA style. Through the course, I refused to seek help from my professor until week seven, one thing I regret doing. that could have allayed the fear and doubt I had about this course. Any questions I had could be cleared up as the course progressed. My essays through the subsequent weeks have demonstrated my strength and weaknesses. I do not have many strengths when it comes writing, but still I consider my greatest strength in writing to be being able to clearly understand the prompt and answer it correctly, especially with the analysis essays. I think this is just because I spend most of the scarce time on hand just to think about the prompt, for example, when I was preparing for my rhetorical analysis essay on globalization I thoroughly read both article on globalization by both Kwame Anthony Appiah and franklin Foer .An obvious struggle I have as a writer is organization and transitions. I tend to jump from one topic to another and sometimes cover. I should have used more transitional words in between sentences and paragraphs to make my reader understand the logic of my paper. I have not had enough writing experience and the writing process is difficult for me. I do sometimes admit that it takes days to complete one assignment, but it will be worth it when I become a proficient
As I was growing up, I have developed a powerfully strong affection for music. While listening to many songs, I have realized that the many artists who their songs all have a nice - sounding voice, but not everyone has the talent to sing beautifully like them. When I joined a choir a few years back, I learned there are four main note ranges: bass, tenor, alto, and soprano. The bass and tenor ranges are more often than not sung by men because of how low the notes in these ranges are; whereas women sing the high notes in the soprano and alto ranges.
The two most important things I've learned is the active reading and the revision strategy. When I first started attending the college I did not know how to study. In spite of the fact that I love learning new things, it seemed beyond me to retain any new information. Therefore, it was the same at work and I often had to read materials repeatedly just to remember them. In addition, I didn't know why this was so difficult for me and had no idea what the right were the right questions to ask without looking like an idiot. Now, I use active reading strategies for every lesson, memo, and email. Furthermore, it has improved my writing drastically, because I am taking more time to revise my work. In addition, when I get a low grade on a written
Whether it be inserting too many exclamation points or not getting to the point fast enough, we are all guilty of personal writing errors. It is important to take part in the simple task of reviewing past assignments and work to reflect on one’s mistakes to improve from them. After all, the first thing to do in order to better yourself is to reflect on past habits and behaviors. It is from self-reflection that I can learn to make changes to help me become a better writer.
