Simon Peters Character Analysis

In the story the main character Simon Peters is confused, he is troubled and he does not know what he wants in life. He reminds me a lot of myself because as I grow up I get confused and get setback on the way and so does Simon. He feels as though he is singled out and different from what is considered the normal teenage behavior. He does everything he can and makes enormous sacrifices for his closest friends and dearest loved ones because all he wants is for them to succeed and to be well off. He gives everything up for them because he loves them, but what is left for himself? He always tries his hardest to get his family to love him and to get people in his new town to accept him, but it is never enough for them. Simon finds the best in a bad situation even if he doesn't want to because he knows, in the end, everything will turn out okay.

Simon is the only glass half full character in the book and it shows when he is the only one who doesn't give up after getting fired from the only job he managed to keep. He continues trying and he grows from it. Instead of going to the bar and getting drunk with tina, he picked her up and drove her home. He never shows how truly upset he is to any of the people he is closest to because he doesn't want them feeling bad for him. I relate to this because I have pressure on me from school home and social pressures and I feel very drowned but when I'm with my friends I manage to forget about it and have fun and always look on the better side of
