Recommended: Effect of foster care on children

The Fosters makes me feel as though I am a part of the family every episode. Personally I do not consider having two moms is normal, but I can relate to some of the situations the characters go through because my family is not perfect. The Foster's deal with many different issues: break ups, hook-ups, romances, and important life lessons. Stef hired a plumber which pissed off Lena. Lena is keeping secrets and she cannot deal with Stef keeping them too, so they started going to therapy to save their marriage. Callie does not want to hassle anyone for her birthday, but Jude plans a surprise birthday party. Callie wants to buy herself a car for her birthday, but the moms are not sure that 800 dollars is going to get her anything remotely safe or reliable. Mariana calls her mom out for sexism because they pay for Brandon’s monthly car costs and bought him a car. Mariana lost her virginity to Wyatt which is Callie, her foster sister, ex-boyfriend. Mariana tries to give Callie 600 dollars because she feels guilty. AJ went to visit his grandma and got a call from his brother of whom told Callie he has a crush on her and also kisses her. Brandon got kicked out of school and got into a fight with AJ, his foster brother …show more content…

Their family may struggle to get through some problems and some of their gender roles do not meet the traditional way, but they always make it work the best they can (p.115). They are not judgmental, have values, and everyone love each other (p.34). I love that the characters do not always get along and everything is not perfect. When I am a little older, I want to adopt a few children and this show expresses to me a different perspective and objection of life growing up in the foster system with parents that are different (p.35). I have not seen anything on this show that is not relatable to a common family or someone I do not

    I found the idea of the children struggling for money a key point that was simplistic and was relatable to many of its viewers. The show had a repetitive theme of which was family, that entertaining theme was presented effectively throughout the entirety of the season. A well example of this is portrayed through the sex addicted couple of Kev and Veronica, when they adopt a christian girl that came out of the a strange cult. They bring her into their home and grow a deep connection that somewhere along the lines becomes labeled as family. This was an unexpected magnificent plot twist which made me fall in love with the show even more. All while still keeping the theme of family going even when she loses her naivety and does anything to help her deadbeat father. This show managed to bring out a serious themes like genuine pity and sympathy which they played out effectively through the character Sheila.
