When comparing the policies and activities of some of the absolutist monarchs throughout the span of history, you begin to notice some similarities throughout some of the greater monarchs. For example, Louis XIV and Peter the Great both had many similarities that reflected each other's actions. Louis XIV was an absolute monarch who some consider to be the definition of absolutism. He believed that he was the one that God chose to represent him. Louis took his power to extremes, dissolving Frances only assembly, the Estates General, and even acting as his own prime minister.
