Who Art Thou Trump
In William Shakespeare’s Macbeth it is taught of how one’s ambition can take the wrong turn to be confused for greed. Macbeth used the advice of the witches to determine his journey of becoming king. Throughout the story Macbeth takes the prophecy of the witches and acted in an evil manner by going on a killing spree. In order to become king he thought that the easiest way was to annihilate anyone that could stop him from doing so. Everyone has some sort of ambition to become the best of the best as no one would like to fall short to anyone. Donald trump was a man with a vision that he thought could possibly become president of the United States. Trump used his multi-millionaire company to help him get ahead in his journey of reaching his goal. Both titles of King and President can be compared as one because the president and king is ultimately above all. Donald Trump and Macbeth are two people that share the same characteristics of how they used their ambition and greed to come out on top to ultimately become kings. Both men are well known in society today for their ability to overcome obstacles, their ability to degrade

others to become superior, and their ability to be manipulated by their wife to be defined as a man. Trump and Macbeth’s main similarity were their ability to overcome any obstacle that came their way in order to come out on top.
Macbeth’s way of overcoming obstacles were by killing anyone that came in his way. Killing Duncan is where it all started, and he found himself not being able to stop. Trump’s way of overcoming obstacles is also by killing others in some type of way. Everything Trump does, he does it big. Hillary lost to Trump by 270-232 electoral votes. Trump killed Hillary in the election because of lot of polls said Hillary was going to win, but on election night Trump by a lot of votes. Both men trumped over their opponents and came out on top. Trump came over his opponents and is now currently the President-elect of the United States. Macbeth went on his killing spree and came out to be the King of the
land. Furthermore, another characteristic that both men share is the ability to degrade others in order to show their superiority. In Macbeth’s final moments of life he feels very confident and starts to act very cocky due to recent prophecies of the ghosts. He feels superior because he had no worries of the battle that was soon to come. The apparitions told Macbeth that he wasn’t able to killed by anyone born of woman so he took the battle that was at hand lightly. When the servant came to warn Macbeth of the army he simply told him “Go prick thy face and over-red thy fear, thou lily-liver’d boy”(Shakespeare 73). Macbeth tried to show his superiority by degrading his servant and setting his warning aside. In comparison Trump used degrading words towards blacks, women, and disabled people during his campaign for presidency. In numerous accounts Trump made remarks like so, “Ariana Huffington is unattractive, both inside and out. I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man – he made a good decision”(Claire). Although everyone has their own opinion, not everything should be voiced for the whole United States to hear. His degrading of others has led him to believe that this is how to achieve and show his superiority to our country. Ultimately, both men have wives that are always behind them in anything they do. Macbeth’s wife, Lady Macbeth, was the first person he told of the witches prophecy. Trump’s wife, Melania, is always behind the scenes watching and consulting on his actions. He has a strong belief that a women should be behind a man. He needs her presence around to feel validated as a man. This reason alone gives her the upper hand in his life. In comparison, Macbeth also needs his wife to feel validated. Numerous times Lady Macbeth asks Macbeth a simple question of “Are you a man”(Shakespeare)? She, in a way, controls his every thought and action. Both of these men use the strength their wives give them to be in power. Although in public their wives come off as dainty and delicate, they obtain a dominant role in their marriages because their husbands are so close minded. They use the neediness of their presence as women to influence their husbands and control them in a sense. Finally, both men are a big part in society and are now known across the world. It is taught that both have an ambition to become successful such as everyone else in the world. Both men have started from the bottom but used hard work and dedication to be on top of everyone else. Macbeth and Trump are very similar to prove the point that English is truly all around us. They both triumphed over anyone and anything, demeaned others, and were controlled by their significant other.
Power can be used for good and for evil. In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, power is a theme used often. The plot is based around Macbeth's plan to overthrow King Duncan and the events that lead up to his rise to power. Lady Macbeth, who has a major influence over her husband, convinces Macbeth to follow through with his plan to kill King Duncan. From the beginning she is a dominant partner who persuades Macbeth to achieve his goal of being king, and she plans and organizes the murder of Duncan. This is similar to the relationship between ex President Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy Reagan. During his time as a politician she experienced a sense of power which led her to take an increasingly active role in her husband's administration. Shakespeare's Macbeth and Ronald Reagan's political actions were both influenced by their wife.
Evil can be a scary thing many things can influence on why a person may be considered evil or do evil things.People do things because they were influenced by others or by their own selfish desires,
The quote, “Man is not truly one, but truly two.” can be analyzed from a behaviorally or mentally aspect. Physically, man is one, but if you delve deeper into the man, he can be separated into two parts which creates a whole man. In the play Macbeth and in the novel Lord of the Flies, some of the characters can be split into two conflicting parts. The characters are neither entirely good or entirely bad. In both the novel and the play, something happens to the characters that made them split into an evil side, thus creating two men.
Act 2 Scene 2: Robespierre and the French Revolution Jessi, Ryan, Tim, Courtney, Kelsey. In The Tragedy of Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, we see Macbeth, a loyal soldier, turn into a complete monster by killing innocent people for the sake of power. This eventually leads to Macbeth’s mental breakdown, descending into madness as a cold blooded murderer, until his fateful death. There have been many Macbeth-like figures who have followed in his footsteps throughout our history, such as Julius Caesar, Joseph Stalin and especially Maximilien Robespierre, in the French Revolution.
After a long and hard battle, the Sergeant says to King Duncan, “For brave Macbeth,-well he deserves that name,- disdaining fortune, with his brandish’d steel, which smok’d with bloody execution , like valour’s minion carv’d out his passage till he fac’d the slave;” (1.2.16) . This quote shows that Macbeth is viewed as a valiant soldier and a capable leader. However, it does not take long for the real Macbeth to be revealed- a blindly ambitious man, easily manipulated by the prospect of a higher status. His quest for power is what drives his insanity, and after having been deemed the Thane of Cawdor, Macbeth’s ambition can immediately be seen. In a soliloquy, Macbeth says, “Present fears are less than horrible imaginings; my thought, whose murder yet is but fantastica, shakes so my single state of man that function is smother’d in surmise, and nothing is but what is not” (1.3.140). Macbeth has just gained more power, and his immediate thought is of how to gain an even higher status as king. He imagines how to kill Duncan, and then is troubled by his thoughts, telling himself it is wrong. This inner struggle between Macbeth’s ambition and his hesitation to kill Duncan is the first sure sign of his mental deterioration. Although Macbeth does kill Duncan, he questions whether or not he should to do so, which is far different from how Macbeth feels about murder later in the play. Macbeth becomes king, and this power leads

A quote which really defines Lady Macbeth and Macbeth’s ambition regarding power is “Power does not corrupt men; fools; however, if they get into a position of power, corrupt power” George Bernard Shaw. Lady Macbeth is more ambitious in terms of gaining power then Macbeth is and that Lady Macbeth will do almost anything to gain power, even evil things that she normally wouldn’t do. This is shown when Macbeth and Lady Macbeth learn about the witches’ predictions, then roles in the plans to murder king Duncan in order to gain power and then finally after the murder, Macbeth doesn’t want to finish the plan making Lady Macbeth angry and causing a chance they might get caught and gain no power at all.
When looking back on the recent decades or even last week, it is not difficult to find a Macbeth-like figure in mainstream American culture. In this it is meant that these individuals experience a downfall in an attempt to gain power. One such figure was former President Richard Nixon.
In The Brothers Karamazov Fyodor Dostoevsky said, “…fear is simply the consequence of every lie.” Dostoevsky is stating how people are afraid of what will happen when their lie(s) is/are put out in the open. Fear is a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined. This line suggests that people are afraid of the truth, which inevitably is the consequence of every lie. Even though this quote was written by a 19th century author it can still relate to texts that were made centuries prior. Both Sophocles and Shakespeare’s plays support Dostoevky because both plays deal with the act of lying and its consequences as a major motif.
They both shared many qualities when it came to ambition taking over them. They both manipulated there way into power, and they also believed they were invincible. Hitler killed millions of innocent people and Macbeth killed the people that loved him. In Macbeth, Shakespeare shows us the side effects of ambition. It’s like a drug that makes you believe you are indestructible and makes you act irrational. For example it says, "I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition, which o 'erleaps itself, and falls on th 'other" (Macbeth). The quote illustrate Macbeth desire for more power, his ambition drives his reasoning for killing the king. This is how he justifies it to himself. He 's saying he as nothing against the king its just part of the prophecy and his desire to gain more power. Lady Macbeth is also to blame when it comes to the death of King Duncan, she was the one that questioned Macbeths manhood and pressured him into murdering Duncan. It says, “Glamis thou art, and Cawdor, and shalt be What thou art promised. Yet do I fear thy nature; It is too full o ' th ' milk of human kindness. To catch the nearest way. Thou wouldst be great, Art not without ambition, but without. The illness should attend it” (Macbeth). As you can see Macbeth has the ambition to get more power its just he is questioned if he would really have the nerve to kill

In the play, Macbeth by William Shakespeare has a strong theme of power. Macbeth is a king who is given three predictions from three witches, one of which is that he will become king. The one problem is he doesn’t know what he has to do in order to become king. His wife then decides that in order for him to become king, he must kill the current king. This one murder then leads to others in order to cover the original murder up. Once Macbeth becomes king, he doesn’t want anything to change, he wants to stay king until he dies. He then begins to kill again, but instead of killing to cover something, he is killing anyone who stands in his way of staying king. Macbeth’s fate is affected by the personality trait of bravery, his ability to be manipulated, and his determination.
William Shakespeare’s Macbeth tells the story of a general who commits regicide in order to become king. Early in the play, Macbeth is conflicted as to weather or not he wants to kill his kinsman the king. In the first two acts Macbeth is not portrayed as a ruthless killer; he is a sympathetic character who succumbs to the provocation of his wife and a prophecy foretold by three mysterious witches. In contrast, Lady Macbeth is a manipulative, immoral woman. Her ambition is so strong that she is willing to do anything to see her husband succeed. However, in the third act things begin to change. The death of the king and lord and lady Macbeth’s rise to power catalyze profound transformation in their personalities.
In Shakespeare’s tragic play Macbeth, Shakespeare creates the ruthless character Macbeth, who is willing to go beyond any measure in order to attain the power of being king, including murder, deceit, betrayal and overpowering the chain of being. Macbeth was first tempted by the idea of kingship when three witches presented him with their portent of Macbeth becoming the next King of Scotland. Ebullient, Macbeth, immediately informed his wife of the news and they both pondered the thought of having the power to rule all of Scotland. Lady Macbeth, a power seeker herself, promptly schemed a plan to kill King Duncan in order for her and her husband to rule, displaying her ready ambition for power. Macbeth’s thirst for power ate away at his conscience
In the play Othello and the play Macbeth, Shakespeare uses the main characters in both plays as warriors. Both characters in each of their plays, had constant outside voices seeping into their minds which ultimately contributed to the fate of both Othello and Macbeth. The witches in the play Macbeth had more of an effect of Macbeth’s actions then Iago had on Othello’s actions in the play Othello. Each character had a lot of pressure on them throughout the play however the witches influence on Macbeth resulted in more destruction than Iago’s influence on Othello.
