In the community of Boiling Spring Lakes (BSL) the population has grown rapidly. In 2013 there were 5,614 people, also the city is 23.3 square miles. We rank the 17 out of the top 50 safest cities in North Carolina. Although BSL is ranked 17th city out of 50 cities of being safe (City Facts). This city has a major safety problem. The problems in BSL are that children and adults are always walking in the traffic that may cause an accident some day. Also, children when waiting for the bus stops by the main road, are running around not paying attention to their surroundings. When children do this they might get hit by some vehicles. When people are walking in the streets it cause the community to become an unsafe environment for our residents of BSL. What if we could make the city a safer place by installing sidewalks, walkways, or paved shoulders along the main roads. If the city installed sidewalks, it would keep our people safe by keeping them off the roads. Sidewalks gives the community plenty of benefits. The benefits to installing sidewalks are mobility, investment in property, safer environment, and healthier …show more content…
Let's start now and save money and raise money to make this community a better place. We deserve to have a city that is perfect for everybody in the community to be happy instead of something tragic or an accidents could happen to us. I know I am willing to work together and raise money for our community to have a mobility, investment in property, safer environment, and healthier community. The cost may be extreme for this city to handle, but there is another solution to this problem that may be a little less than sidewalks. The city could also install paved shoulders. Paved shoulders will also give a section for people to walk on instead of the
How long will it take America’s streets to be clean? “In January 2014, there were 578,424 people experiencing homelessness on any given night in the United States” (Snapshot of Homelessness, n.d.). The number of homeless found on the streets continues to increase and more and more are left without food and shelter. They are left to survive off whatever resources they can find, and most nights it is nothing. This epidemic is beginning to grow out of proportion and action must be made to help change the brokenness found on the streets. Covina is one of many cities that has a numerous amount of homeless. The Calvary Chapel Cornerstone Church should implement a program that reaches out to help the homeless find jobs within the community due to
Riverbank, a large city, has a district with a huge problem. Grant’s Valley, although booming with business, is a quaint and historic part of Riverbank that the residents want to keep that way. The business aspect of Grant’s Valley has an ever growing need for more space for tourists to park and there is just too much traffic for the area to withstand. Riverbank’s historically quaint Grant’s Valley would benefit from the destruction of the unused junior-high on 35th and Princeton and the new construction of a one hundred space parking lot and a new park. This would attract more people and lessen the unattractive curb appeal of the parking lot in the residential area of Grant’s Valley that the residents want
Sacramento is a bustling city with a diverse population and a city structure to match. In the last few decades the growth and development within our area has grown exponentially, land that was completely vacant fields and farmland has been replaced with shopping centers and freeways, expanding with the population increase in recent years. With the fast-track building of these areas before the economic collapse, more areas were developed than can currently be filled, which unfortunately has left many new buildings empty and lots paved for new construction or parking lots left unused. This is in addition to the expansion of roads and freeways in an attempt to relieve the traffic congestion that comes from rapid urban growth.
As a social worker in the community of Lakeside, there are many problems, however, one proposal that I feel could be helpful is bringing new businesses to the community because of the following problems listed below that were brought up in the article and addressing transportation issues.
Parking on Campus is a Pain New students entering Concordia College are not permitted to have a car on campus. With each new freshman class entering every year, parking represents an issue. Concordia is as of now constrained in its parking on campus and since first year students are not permitted to have cars, the students are confronted with the problem of having no place to park or parking very a long way from their goal. There are parking issues everywhere throughout the campus, making backups in residence hall and other lots, bringing about students parking illegally to avoid from walking far distances, which can be very aggravating in the bitter cold. Parking nearer appears like the reasonable thing to do, however it is a hazard, which
Sidewalks are different shapes and sizes, people tend to make their own decisions to which way they would want to go. Going through the motions on a sidewalk is similar as going through the motions of life. There are many turns that could get you to your final destination and turns that can also get you into places you would not feel so comfortable being. Staying on the right path and trying to get to where you need to go isn’t so hard but when you have other sidewalks with nice grass and big beautiful street lights that can be a very big distraction to the eye and that could cause problems in your life. Nice sidewalks sometimes don't always tend to continue a nice path so they can be very believing at first but when you make it to the end
Central Park was one of those best outdoor venues for huge concerts. But not only that, it is even one of the venue for the largest concerts ever in terms of estimated attendance. That seems quite a feat but the huge space that the park offers was able to accommodate around 980,000 attendees during Garth Brooks’ concert in 1997.
Homelessness is a condition of people without a regular residence. People who are homeless are usually unable to acquire and maintain regular, safe, secure, and adequate housing. Homeless people constitute a demographically diverse population, and the situation is a critical problem in United States. The homeless are known as “the wondering poor”, “sturdy beggars”, and “vagrants”. This condition often occurs due to poverty, but this is only one of many reasons a person can be homeless. In addition to poverty, homelessness occurs as a result of drugs, mental illness, disasters such as hurricanes, or even domestic abuse. It is not a criminal activity.
Have you ever wondered how some athletes have gotten so good at a certain sport? Have you ever thought about what they did in order for them to get this good? For some the answer is simple; workout and train. But for others the answer is different; the use of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids. There are some people that argue that steroids should be legalized and allowed in professional sports. Other people argue that steroids should not be allowed. Today I am going to state my opinion and justify my reason. Steroids should not be allowed in professional sports because it can be very dangerous to the athlete’s health, it is a way to gain and un-fair advantage and it can be dangerous in both social and physical aspects.
...e that these three solutions can be a main source into helping those in need for desperate help financially. I also feel that these plans can be a major part in developing a better economy and society for the “slum” and middle class communities. It will uplift many neighborhoods and people and to show that we can do something about this problem. Instead of us sitting and looking at the problem getting worse, we have to attend to the problem at hand.
Public transportation is an essential part of a city. A good public transit can encourage a city’s economic activities and can provide its citizen a convenient life. Does our Phoenix public transit work well? Does it provide sufficient service to the citizen? From my experience, the answer is no. This November I tried to attend the popular State Fair in Phoenix. However, I found that there were not any buses or metros could take me to the fair directly. It means I need 2 hours or more spend on the public transits. As the sixth most populous city nationwide (“Phoenix Quick Fact” 1), compared with Los Angeles and other big cities in America, Phoenix’s public transportation is indeed subpar. Due to Los Angeles has 154 bus lines and 30 metros (“Schedule”), New York has 316 bus lines and 28 subways(“Maps & Timetables”), while Phoenix only has 98 bus lines, and the number of metro line is only one! (“Route Schedules & Maps”) The problem is
Never the less these problems have arisen and present a very serious issue for not only our generation but for future generations also. Therefore, changes need to be made in Urban transport.
As the result of urbanization, cities have more problems to overcome such as pollution, overpopulation, drug abuse, congestion, crime, poverty, traffic jam, slum areas, and many more. There must be something to solve these problems. Government and citizens should be involved because taking care of city problems can’,t be done entirely by government. The community can be even more successful because it deals directly with problem areas.
For people to move around the city I’ve come up with several ideas. Electric cars would create less pollution than gas cars so those would highly be encouraged. More encouraged than that would be bikes, walking, and a city trolley system. Certain streets would be blocked off from cars, allowing only city trolleys and bikes through. Also, some streets would be narrower and bike paths would be mandatory along any new street tha...
