Sidewalks are different shapes and sizes, people tend to make their own decisions to which way they would want to go. Going through the motions on a sidewalk is similar as going through the motions of life. There are many turns that could get you to your final destination and turns that can also get you into places you would not feel so comfortable being. Staying on the right path and trying to get to where you need to go isn’t so hard but when you have other sidewalks with nice grass and big beautiful street lights that can be a very big distraction to the eye and that could cause problems in your life. Nice sidewalks sometimes don't always tend to continue a nice path so they can be very believing at first but when you make it to the end …show more content…
I feel me being truthful to others will take me very far in life but the biggest thing that I have to keep in mind is that you have to be truthful to yourself before you try to be truthful to someone else. It would come off very insane if you’re giving advice that you don’t apply to yourself. My personal opinion everyone is wise, everyone has their own way of getting through things. I like to look at life as a very extreme game that everyone has their own type of cheat code to help them live. I try to focus on the big picture with what should truly matter to me, like being myself and living my life the way I want to live it, because nobody can live your life but you. So opinions really do not matter to me as much as I thought they would. High school opened my eyes to show me that everyone has this fake persona to make them appear to be up to the standards of everyone else. I rather come differently than to just blend in amongst everyone else. From being judged based on what you like all the way to however you're dressed could put a hold on your limits to the things you do but I prefer to just forget about the negatives thoughts of what someone else has to say. At the end of the day, they aren't in my shoes so they can't make my journey for
As for me I want people to be honest no matter what. I rather hear the truth and I’ll not hold resentment towards them for expressing what they really feel. Some folks want to hear or tell the truth and some others want to avoid the truth rather than say something they don’t really mean or that is rude. Not all individuals can take the hurtful truth in good
For instance, after Romeo met Juliet, he quickly went to Friar Lawrence for advice. Granted, the Friar’s ideas were not always very smart, however, on first notice, he did try to bring some perspective and slow them down. When Friar Lawrence became aware of Romeo’s sudden change of heart, he exclaimed, “Holy Saint Francis, what a change is here! Is Rosaline, whom thou didst love so dear, So soon forsaken? young men's love then lies Not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes. (Shakespeare 2.3.1125) In this scene, the Friar gave Romeo a needed wake-up call, trying to make the boy aware of his fickle emotions. Romeo was head over heels for Juliet, and yet never even stopped loving Rosaline. He needed someone to snap him out of it and fortunately, the Friar tried to do so. However, correction is only useful when given by a loved one, so some may counter my opinion by saying that negative opinions can bring someone’s morale extremely low. For example, a young girl may see a billboard with a woman who has a body unlike hers, and so she begins to unhealthily strive to become that. This is a real situation and I agree, but to say that all other opinions are null is not wise. Some people may even carry thoughts about us that are really encouraging and uplifting that we can only take in if we ask for their thoughts. In addition to encouraging us, other people who are looking at a situation with fresh eyes may see something important that we did
Christopher McCandless’ long, fascinating, but an ultimately fatal journey into the wilderness of Alaska is depicted in the biography, Into the Wild, written by Jon Krakauer. Late in the of summer of 1990, a very young Christopher McCandless left his ordinary world in Annandale, Virginia to pursue a solitary life in the untamed wilds of Alaska. Many will insinuate that Christopher McCandless’ actions were childish and idiotic, but a stronger argument would be that his unconventional thinking and desire to live life on his own terms allowed him to reach self-actualization.
Through my life, I have found that one of my biggest disappointments has been how much time I lost caring about what others thought of me and my decisions. Over the past couple years, I have found confidence in
Always look at things in different ways their are various ways in which to perceive an idea or object. However, it important to “Speak what you think today in hard words” meaning it is important to speak what you have in mind and not letting others ignorance cloud your own judgment. Never let what others think of you stop you from speaking up in any sort of way. For example in society many fear the what others might think of them so they instead decided to stay quiet and follow the herd. If more people decided to express themselves without the fear of persecution from others there would be more peaceful protest fighting for what they believe is wrong. Also by doing this you might influence others into becoming unique. Although, it is important to admit when you are at wrong never stop expanding your mind and allow other various types of ideals to come in place. When the time come “ … speak what tomorrow thinks in hard words again” meaning even if you end up contradicting yourself later on it 's okay. People are allowed to change they way they think in a matter of seconds if they wish to but in the end it will be because you now know
A process is used to make a task simpler by dividing the task into parts that can be done individually. When you start writing an essay from beginning from end, you get stuck figuring out how to write introduction and it discourages to finish the essay before you have started. Instead start writing the body paragraphs, conclusion and then write the introduction. The first draft is never perfect visit writing centers for help or ask others to help revise your essay. Also reading your paper out loud gives you a better understanding what the paper sounds like and corrections that need to be made. Often times when we read a paper in our minds we skip over the mistakes or correct mistakes without knowing it. Correcting your essay many times will help complete your ideas in your essay, this helps the reader to be able to follow the ideas in the essay and not get lost. By doing these steps you better understand why you are writing an essay and the next steps to take.
How would you deal with the constant thought that you are always being observed and judged for every movement you make and every thought you have? Would the destruction of your privacy be too much to handle? Nobody deserves to live with no private thought or action. In 1984, by George Orwell, every movement that people make in this society is the exactly what the government wants so nobody is an individual. The government produces a bunch of perfect clones to live under its rule.
It has been 20 years since the original Independence Day radically changed what we thought about a summer blockbuster. When the first trailer was released for the movie, Will Smith was only that guy from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Jeff Goldblum was an established actor who is was coming off the major hit Jurassic Park, and Bill Pullman was destined to be quoted for his speech in the movie up until now.
I also strongly have started to believe that being honest can be a great skill to have and that it could benefit you in many different ways for the better or the worst! Being honest is probably the most efficient skill you could develop in life it could get you out or into trouble, but being honest can help you keep friendship and have privileges that you wouldn't get if you weren't honest. Honesty has brought me a long way recently i feel so good
I am the type of person who likes to get involved within my community. I engaged myself into this particular program where we mentor young woman and sometimes young men on empowering their youth on making change in their community for the better. Twice out the year we go out and feed the homeless and spread wisdom among them. Every day I would give a homeless person money or change I may have. I came across the gentlemen one day, who told me how I would give him money and a reason to live. He also told me how I would tell him to keep his head up, things will get better. As of today he has his own car, home and a nice paying job. He told me even though he liked Spiderman, I was his superhero. Growing up, how I did makes me realize I could have
Overcoming adversity is imperative. In fact, you can 't have the happiness and success you want unless you have adversity in your life and overcome it. It is essential for progressing into who you want to be. It shows you what you are made of. It teaches you more about yourself, how to approach what you want, and how to maintain the success that you have. Without it, you wouldn 't know how far you could go or how capable you are because you wouldn 't have anything to push you or compare to.
Around the world there are countries that still don’t allow some or all of their citizens to vote. However in America the right to vote is simply given to every American citizen over the age of 18. So you’d think that every US citizen over the age of 18 would be voting for everything, right? WRONG. Out of everyone in the US only 57% voted at our last presidential election. So out of the two hundred and forty-eight million people in the United States of as of November 30 who are eligible to vote only about 57% of the population will vote for the presidency. So out of two hundred and forty-eight million people only about one hundred and forty-three million citizens will cast their vote in the upcoming presidential election. And this is a vote
Writing is like showing magic tricks to me because the audiences don’t know what will happen. As a freshmen coming to college, something that I have to get used to that no one will inform me if I didn’t do my homework, or I skipped class. I didn’t expect much from any of my classes. In the beginning of the quarter my main goal for EWRT 211 is that I wanted to learn how to write better. Most of the essays I wrote in high school didn’t receive high scores. In EWRT 211 I learned many things, but the most important thing that I learned was how to write essays. Writing essays is not something that you can do in one day. You have to go through many steps to get the result that you want. For instance, in order to get a high score for your essay you shouldn’t write the essay the night before it is due. For example, before you start to write your essay you should plan out what is the main point
No matter your cadence, Stanley Park Slow Rider or Hard Core Road Racer, I am confident you will agree that one of the perks of cycling versus driving in Vancouver is access to free parking. You don’t need to search for long to find a strategically located bike rack to park your trusted steed. As the number of cycling commuters and leisure riders increases, the demand for bike infrastructure continues to grow and at the heart of the growth is the demand for increased bicycle parking.
Do you really think you are true to yourself? Regardless of any external argument, this is factual. Each person is always true to themselves, simply because they personally define what is true. Attempts to convince us otherwise is not only difficult, but if successful, are also destructive to our humanity. Loss of personal truth is loss of self; it becomes harder to assess our being if we are not whole.
