In this world a person never knows what is good and bad for him/her and the others. In my opinion digital monitoring is very beneficial and even more in this society that kidnapping is happening a lot. In two articles, “Should You Spy on your kids?” by Nick Wingfield and “Spy-Master Parents Might Uncover Trust Problems” by John Keilman explain some pros and cons about digital monitoring. According on what I have learned and my personal experiences I think that digital monitoring is beneficial because you can demonstrate trust, good feeling, and protect the teenagers. Trust is the base of any relationship whether it be for couple and teenagers. If you allow your family to monitor you that tells them that you are not hiding anything. Wingfield

There are virtually countless social sites and media used by individuals to access and share experiences , content, insights, and perspectives. Parents today tend to believe they should spy on their kids online activity. I argue parents should respect the privacy of a child's social life and his/her internet activity.

This essay will discuss both points of view, and try to decide which one is more reasonable than the other.

Our society would not survive in the 21st century without the help of electronic surveillance. Safety is one of the main purposes of electronic surveillance. Safety is the state of being secure and free from danger of any sort. Today, many would rather give up their privacy for safety (Smithsimon). In fact, surveillance gadgets such as cameras, radio tracking chips and house alarms are used in many places to ensure safety. For instance, a parent can easily place a hidden camera in a stuffed animal in order to see how the babysitter handles his or her child (Public Places Have Eyes). Cameras are also used to ensure safety on school premises. According to the GCC College Safety website, "the college has an extensive system of surveillance cameras [which] monitors and records [everything in order] to enhance safety and security on the campus." These cameras monitor all parking lots, walkways, and athletic fields to prevent any harm on the students and employees. Another surveillance gadget on the rise is called the radio tracking chip which is a human tracking device inserted under the skin. As a matter of fact, the country of Brazil has a 2,000-person waiting list for these gadgets in response to help the rate of their nation's kidnappings and to promote safety (Human Inventory Control). In addition to cameras and tracking devices, house alarms are another tool used for safety measures. According to the ADT safety website, they provide the ADT Security System which monitors for any smoke, fire, water leak, carbon monoxide and any medical alert situations. Many home owners purchase alarm systems in order to feel safe in or away from their homes. All in all, safety is definitely one major reason why surveillance devices are widely use...

History has revealed that once these surveillance technologies have been put up, departments can increase the number and quality of cameras without any opposition (Sprigman). And with all of the problems and prejudices that ravage America today, the police and government will be very tempted to put more as a precaution. Right now, there is no clear line between surveillance for protection and American values. But if this continues to get out of hand, surveillance systems might change into something much more sinister. Of course, there are numerous laws and established rules that prohibit audio recording individuals without their permission. But that is just for audio and currently, there are no similar rules for camera surveillance. As time goes by, the amount of public cameras increases and this will also bring minor changes to people’s personality and even characteristics. Similar to any technology that harms privacy, the benefits of deploying public surveillance systems must be accounted for, including the benefits and the costs. The main benefit is that it can prevent petty crimes but the chances are very small. Public surveillance can change people’s experiences and normal behaviors because it has a cold effect on the mass public. This carries a very real danger because anybody could abuse this power and in the long run, would not be able to protect us from very minor crimes, much less any acts of terrorism. Public spaces serves as a macro view but schools are a specific
I did my parent-child observation at a restaurant in Batesville Indiana. I went to a small family owned place called Wagner’s. I did my observation over Thanksgiving break after my family cut our Christmas tree down. This occurred on Saturday November 28th around 6pm. This is a place that I am relatively familiar with. I have been going there with my family every year since I was a young child. It is a pretty small restaurant. While one side has a bar, the other side is more family oriented. It is a child friendly place that has a small area that toddlers and young kids can play. It has coloring books and small toys.

Parents nowadays don’t spend as much time with their kids as they used to. One of the main causes that family relationships are becoming weaker and weaker is the growth of technology. Things like Tweeter, Facebook, and Instagram by some teenagers’ definition is a place where they can express themselves. But they give up to much information at times and create arguments within the family and sooner or later destroy the trust within the relationship.

And what about parents who use technology just to keep their kids safe? As with all new technologies, there are pros and cons.
When it comes to having an account online it can get quite dangerous. Not only is it dangerous but having the gadget lying around the house or even having their own at a young age can make it easier for them to have easy access to those social media accounts. Parents need to take precaution with their children and the internet. Meeting someone online is so much more different from meeting them in person. It is hard to tell if people and kids are their real age that they put on their information because you can actually lie about how old you really are. There has been many cases where involving younger girls talking to older men, a 15-year-old can be talking to a
It is also a necessity that parents have an understanding of digital media to avoid the generational technology divide. This is a divide that is quickly growing because children are learning about digital media at a faster rate than their parents. If young people have an understanding of how to make good choices on digital media than they are less likely to negatively affect their future college applications and jobs through what they post online. Cyberbullying is a large problem among young people, and this is often because they are able to hide behind a screen while posting anything they want online. Bullying has always been a problem amongst students, but digital media has created a whole new form. There have been countless suicides as a result of cyberbullying. If young people have a thorough understanding of the consequences of digital media then cyberbullying is likely to decrease. Social media can beneficial in connecting people together and allowing them to build relationships, if young people are educated they are more likely to know how to communicate with one another in a positive way (Dotterer).
