This essay addresses seeks to evaluates diverse parenting approach by a parent-child observation. From observing developmentally appropriate and inappropriate interactions with the parent and child, I will learn how parents teach, guide, and influence their children. First, I will briefly describe basic Information of the child and parent that I have observed. Next I will discuss the parent experience with transitioning to Parenthood. Throughout the essay, I will be discussing the parenting goals and beliefs, parenting challenges and reflecting on parenting from the parent perspectives. Lastly, I will discussing my observation from the parent and child interactions. The interview and observation took place at a local park, where my niece and the participant oldest daughter has cheerleading practices at. The interview lasted a duration of one hour, including the observation of the child and parent after the interview. The participant that I shall call Emily (the mom) is Caucasian and age 35. Emily daughter Anna is age six. The names used in this Parent-Child Observation are fictitious. This is to protect the privacy of the parent and child being observed. Emily is a housewife
When Emily escorted Anna back to her seat, she whisper something in Anna ear and Anna shouted “no mama, please.” I observed that Emily probably is an Authoritative parent. In the text, Authoritative parents are ones who balanced interaction between structure and nurture. When Emily allowed Anna to play, Anna was self –reluctant and did not cry because her mother was not in presence, as children who have attachment issues do.
