In today's society the number of teenage pregnancy are very high, and it profoundly alters a teenager's life . When teenagers get pregnant their faced with questions such as, should I give my baby up? Or should I keep my baby?. For this reason, teens are put up against holding off on their dreams in life, graduating from high school, and having a social life with their friends. I believe that teens should keep their babies because it shows a sense of responsibility, it helps them mature, and teens are still capable of attending school just like another teen without a child. Some teens are not mentally or physically prepared to raise a baby because their still learning and maturing . However, should you give up your baby because you are not prepared ? Absolutely not, teens should take full responsibility for their actions. According to the article titled " Should teenagers that get pregnant keep their baby " the article reports that " Women are born with the ability to take care of a child. We provide the food, love, care needed. Most times it comes …show more content…
The responsibility teens have to take on can give them anxiety. In fact, people feel teens who keep their baby drop out of school, ruins the kids life, and cannot afford it. According to the article titles "Kids Health" the article states that " Younger teens' pregnancies, in particular, are considered high risk because their bodies haven't finished growing and are not yet fully mature". Therefore, a teen is putting their baby in high risk because their body is not fully developed. Teens keeping their baby can be a hardship for their parents because they would have to provide for their teen and the baby. People feel it is unfair to get pregnant, and have to put their baby off on their parents. Also, if the baby father is absent in their baby life it puts a strain on the teen mom because she will be left alone to take care of the
Teenagers who become mothers have harsh prospects for the future. Teenagers obtaining abortions are 20% and girls under 15 accounts for 1.2%. They are much more likely to leave of school; receive insufficient prenatal care; rely on public assistance to raise a child; develop health problems; or en...
Being a parent is very demanding and can be hard. The difficulties that come with an unplanned pregnancy in teens can have a profound effect on their life. Their physical, social, mental, and emotional health will all be affected by a sudden change in the course of their life. Teens impacted with an unplanned pregnancy will have to give up many things in order to be a parent. In addition, they will have to take on many more responsibilities that accompany pregnancy and parenthood. All in all, having an unplanned pregnancy and becoming a parent introduce many new responsibilities and difficulties.
Babies, as well as the teenage mothers, face long-time problems may face long-term problems from the pregnancy. These problems may include school failure, poverty, and physical or mental illness. Babies born to teenagers are at greater risk for neglect and abuse than those of a woman. Teenage mothers may feel like they are being demanded to do the job and they may take their frustration out on the child (When 1).
"It's the hardest choice you'll make, but I know I made the right one when I placed my child in adoptive care" (Orr). There are a few options for pregnant teenagers regarding parenting. These include adoption and abortion. The majority of teens have not attained basic knowledge of adoption and the benefits it encompasses for the child and the mother. There is an abundance of useful information teens should be aware of before deciding parenting, abortion, and adoption. More teenagers who are expecting a child should choose adoption because it provides a more suitable lifestyle for the child, it's a positive alternative for couples unable to give birth to their own child, and it's beneficial for the mother and her future.
The idea of bringing an unwanted baby into the world is wrong in so many ways. I personally believe having a child is an important decision that requires consideration, preparation, and planning. Having both parents to love, protect and care for the child should be the ideal way, but not having any of those would be devastating. According to “ The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Article , it stated that “unintended pregnancies are associated with birth defects, low birth weight , maternal depression, increased risk of child abuse ,lower educational attainment, delayed entry into prenatal care, a high risk of physical violence during pregnancy, and reduced rates of breastfeeding.” (75). As stated in the article, unintended pregnancies can become a result of many risks. I strongly agree with this statement because as I mentioned before a pregnancy requires plenty of consideration. For example, if a woman becomes pregnant and she is a drug addict, she is prone to put the drugs over the baby ,and that baby is likely to be born with some disabilities because of he or she was not taken seriously. In addition, a woman is more likely to become unemployed and therefore the woman would not be able to take care of herself or the baby. Furthermore, what about teenage girls that get pregnant
Teenage girls often get pregnant and do not know the first step in becoming a mother. Normally, when a teenage girl gets pregnant, she is less likely to attend college according to “Women Issues” by Linda Lowen. Some mothers are not even sure who their baby’s father is and many babies get aborted. The majority of single teen mothers are living in poverty. “Almost all our teen mothers are low-income, poorly educated and low-skilled.” (CNN) One third of mothers actually have a college degree and 23.2% are unemployed. (www.singlemotherguide.com) People under the age of eighteen are still developing and are not ready to be
In America, one million teenagers get pregnant every year (National Abortion Federation, 2003). Of these pregnancies, 78% are unplanned because these teenagers start having sex at a very young age and are unaware of ways to prevent pregnancies. Thirty-five percent of the pregnant teenagers chose to abort, as they fear that the consequences of the pregnancy might have significant effects on their lives. The problems that come with teenage pregnancies include dropping out of school, receiving inadequate prenatal care, developing health problems, relying on public assistance to raise a child, and probably divorcing their partners. In most states, the law allows pregnant teenagers to take their babies for adoption without consulting their parents.
Teen Parenting should be delayed because it is very difficult to handle, some can’t handle it. One of my friends is a teen mom, and she wouldn't wish a teen pregnancy on any teen. Trying to work, go to school, raise a baby and still having some growing up to do is nowhere near easy. Dealing with a checkbook, a husband, a newborn, a job and finishing school at sixteen was hard. But she managed, just like many other teen moms but she do wish things could have been easier so she could have enjoyed my first born even more, without all the added stress.
Teenagers are still kids. So basically we have a bunch of kids having kids which is insane. Teenagers aren’t ready to be parents until they have grown up themselves. Teens aren’t able to raise a steady family, they don’t have jobs, their children won’t have fathers, and they aren’t responsible enough for that yet. To be a parent you need discipline, education, and finances. Teens have none of that. The teenagers shouldn’t have to have all of that forced onto them at such an early age. What type of teen would give up friends, proms, their education, and their whole life just to change diapers, feed and take care of a baby. Teenagers already don’t like waking up early in the morning for school, so why would they to take care of a baby in the middle of the night? That’s just it, they wouldn’t. Teenagers are just too young to be having kids When their only kids. Teenage...
In society today, teens are taught by the television and the media that pre-marital sex is not a bad thing. This problem is leading to many teenage pregnancies, that then lead to abortion. All over the world teens are faced with many challenges in their everyday lives. Sex is being portrayed as extremely appealing in the media, but what they don't show is the pregnancies and the unborn child that never asked to be created in the first place that is being discarded. Abortion is in no way acceptable, it is murder of an unborn child.
C. even though the teen pregnancy rate has dropped we can still ensure that teens can prevent it from happening and even if they have made risky decisions in the past they can make healthier ones in the future. teenagers should stay in school and study so that they have a brighter future and can give a very dignified life to their families. It's important for all teens to be responsible and make the right decision.
One major effect of teen pregnancy is that the child may be raised by a single parent. While most girls are looking for love and acceptance in sex, many guys are looking for the mere pleasure and are not planning on becoming a teen father. The pressures of high school and hanging out with friends may be overwhelming for some teens, so they just leave. Raising a child as teen is difficult, but raising a child alone would be almost impossible.
In conclusion teen pregnancy has hard an effect on society, in many ways. Most teen pregnancies were not planned. CFOS says that about 65% of teen pregnancy's were not even discussed with their sexual partners. All of the other percentage of teen pregnancy's were not planned either, but it had been discussed with the teen's sexual partner at some point in time. Most teens began having sex without knowing the consequences. Teenagers need to take responsibility and remember to keep safe, because there are various ways to prevent teen pregnancy, for example abstinence, sex education, and various types of birth control; because these methods are available children should not be brought into this world mistakenly.
...due to increasing uncertainty about the future. Fears of having the baby are prevalent as the teen becomes confused on the impact of the baby towards her own life and future dreams. In their lifespan development, delaying their education is necessary as they cannot hold on to both the education and the pregnancy. The depression developed is due to lack of effective handling of the emotions created by the pregnancy (Carlson, 2009).
As time goes on, teen pregnancy is becoming more and more common throughout the world. So many people frown upon this whole idea. Such people act as if the teenage parents’ world is going to come to an end. Although these kids’ life is going to be making a big turn, there are many of them who are mature enough to take on the responsibilities of a baby.
