I. Attention/Introduction:
A. Attention Getter: The amount of teenagers that get pregnant around the age of 15 through 17 is quite concerning. Even though most Teenage Pregnancies are unintentional, it still means that there are chances of them becoming pregnant.
B. Credibility: (history of your issue)”3 in 10 teen American girls will get pregnant at least once before the age of 20. That’s nearly 750,000 teen pregnancies every year. From 1990 to 2008, the teen pregnancy rate decreased 42 percent. A sexually active teen who doesn’t use contraceptives has a 90 percent chance of becoming pregnant within a year.”(11 facts)
C. Preview/Thesis: i'd like to explain the consequences of teenage pregnancies and things teens should do to prevent it.
Transition: teens come to a time when they need help and support.
II. Need: (your 2-3 major argument points and evidence)
A. A lot of teenagers who become pregnant sometimes wish they weren't . This happens because they either dont want to be parents or they know it's not the right time. By the time they find out they are pregnant they start stressing out because it was never meant to happen and also because they don't want their parents to know or to find out.
B. as the teen pregnancy rate rises more adolescents contract sexually transmitted infections like HIV
C. teenage mothers are more “prone to health problems” and they might “experience a maternal death rate at 2.5 times higher than women aged 20-24” (At Issue: Teenage Pregnancy)
D. Teenage Pregnancies associate with social issues , such as lower educational levels and higher rates of Poverty. This happens because when they are pregnant they drop out of school and just worry about their bab...

... relationships, increase self worth and set appropriate boundaries in order to achieve future goals.” (Huber)
E.
Transition: I believe that preventing teen pregnancy is very important and teens should know what to do being in that situation
V. Action/Conclusion.
A. today i told you how to prevent teenage pregnancies and some of the consequences
B. i ask that you should think about these precautions and take them into thought
C. even though the teen pregnancy rate has dropped we can still ensure that teens can prevent it from happening and even if they have made risky decisions in the past they can make healthier ones in the future. teenagers should stay in school and study so that they have a brighter future and can give a very dignified life to their families. It's important for all teens to be responsible and make the right decision.
... is the direct effect of teens and young adults not being educated on the things that come with sex and the consequences of their actions. Teens need sex education because the knowledge will give them an insight on the subject and help them think about the proper precautions to take in order to be a responsible person insuring that they use the right contraception and/or abstinence in order for them not to have children as a teen. Other factors play into why teens become pregnant as well. In the results for my interviews, parent/child relationships should be established and upheld as a relationship that is strictly parent and child. Teens who do not have a true parent/parents in their lives to care about the important thing that contribute to the child’s well being such a becoming pregnant at a young age, tend to make decisions that are not healthy in their lives.
Teen pregnancy is a major issue in society today. In 2010, an estimated 614,400 U.S. teenagers became pregnant, approximately 89,300 had miscarriages, and 157,500 had legal abortions. Teens are having unprotected sex without knowing the consequences of the choices that the are making. Teens believe that sex is something new that they can try, so they can be popular like their peers. These accusations are wrong, having unprotected sex has major consequences, and by having unprotected sex these teens could be changing their lives forever. Who is to fault for these teen pregnancies? Is in the parents fault, the teens fault or is it our communities fault all together? I believe providing more information and awareness about teen pregnancy in our schools and community will reduce the number of teen pregnancies.
According to the March of Dimes, "nearly thirteen percent of all births in the United States were teens ages fifteen to nineteen. Almost one million teenagers become pregnant each year and about 485,000 give birth (Teenage 1).
To begin with, there are many common reasons why teenage pregnancy takes place. In fact, 60% of teenage mothers come from economically disadvantaged households and perform poorly in school. Alex McKay, research coordinator for the Sex Information and Education Council of Canada, explains, "Young women who feel optimistic about their future tend not to get pregnant. Young women who are starting to feel discouraged about their employment are more likely to get pregnant." Moreover, 79% of teen pregnancies happen to unmarried teen couples. The male is usually older than the female in the relationship, and pressures the girl into having unprotected sex. Girls born to teenage mothers also have a 22% higher chance of becoming teen moms themselves, for they often live in a poor environment, like their mothers once did. Significantly, those affected by teenage pregnancy have many similarities.
The Feminist Women’s Health Center explain that teenagers who are sexually active who does not use any contraception has a 90 percent chance of becoming pregnant within the first 12 months of being sexually active. Teens also become pregnant when contraceptive methods, such as birth control pills and condoms fail. In those groups of teens who become pregnant, more than one-third obtain an abortion, a forceful termination of the pregnancy through the removal of the embryo or fetus from the uterus. (Welton)
Teenagers have to be knowledged about the bad things that can result from teen pregnancy. There are numerous ideas we can do. Schools programs, and organizations can become more involved with prevention. Yes, there is policies like the absinience policy. Thats obviously not enough to help. Even though there is a decline in teen pregnancy in the United States doesn’t mean we can’t keep help preventing. Let’s all bring awareness before its too late.
Every year 750,000 teenage lives come to a standstill when they become pregnant. Could these unplanned pregnancies among our youth be prevented? Why don’t more schools provide access to information about contraceptives? Statistics show, teens that are aware of the risks of teen pregnancy and have access to birth control are much less likely to experience an unplanned pregnancy. Providing contraceptives and sexual education to high school students can significantly reduce the amount of teen pregnancies. So how can we help these teens educate themselves about the consequences of sexual activity?
Did you know that 3 in 10 American girls will get pregnant at least once before the age of 20? The number for teen pregnancy can be easily reduced with the proper information and education about birth control. But some teens choose to ignore it and do what they please to do anyway , another reason on why there’s teens getting pregnant is because their parents choose to ignore the topic and not speak to their teens about it.
"The proportion of teenage girls becoming pregnant is increasing, the proportion of total births which are being born to women ages 15-19 is increasing, and the proportion of out-of-wedlock births is increasing." (Wenken, 1972) Since teen pregnancy is increasing, so is the age variety. In most common cases teens are becoming pregnant at sixteen or younger. They are also all in school and unwedded. "About 88% of all childbearing
Teen pregnancy, it’s one of the growing problems in today’s society. Teens today have more problems than ever, and in many cases the parents mistake signs of the problems for mere puberty phase. Beginning problem, which often trigger the others, seem to be families. Deeply religious families are most often heavily strict, and that prevents the teenagers to be informed about real life and what are they getting into. When that kind of person gets in a situation where his or her peers are more experienced then them, the outcome is a pressure. During the puberty the teenagers, especially males, are having problems with controlling their needs. It is easy to get pregnant for today’s teenagers, because they face many unbearable problems.
While many teens that engage in pre-marital sex never become pregnant, some are not as fortunate. Teen pregnancy has become all too common in this day and age. Some teens think it will not happen to them and do not use necessary precautions to protect against it. There are several causes for teen pregnancy and the effects can be life changing.
Preventing teenage pregnancy has been a goal for many years now. Statistics have tried to keep up with the change in the teenage generation. Many people have different opinions on the subject of teen pregnancy, because to some people teens seem to be getting pregnant expeditiously in these times. People fail to realize that having a baby is a privilege to many people and not a problem. Many people take having a baby as a lightly. Getting pregnant and having a kid has many pros/cons. Having a child can be very hard on some people and cause them to break. When babies are brought into this world there are a lot of things to worry about. The greatest problem associated with teen pregnancy is financial instability. Most teens do not have the salary to support a child. In the prevention of teen pregnancy there are many things that are helpful. Abstinence is a for sure way of not getting pregnant. There are also other helpful ways to help prevent teen pregnancy, such as sex education and birth control. All of these things are essential in the helping to prevent teenage pregnancy.
Teen pregnancy is the term used in reference to those young ladies who get pregnant before attainment of legal adulthood that is between 13-18 years age group. It is a circumstance under which a teenager becomes pregnant unintentionally affecting her life-span development. Teen pregnancy is a prevalent factor among many teenage women especially in their 16th to 19th birthday. Pregnant teenagers are today faced with many obstetrics problems similar to those of the women in their age gap of 20s and 30s. Additional medical concerns are experienced by pregnant teenagers in the developing countries especially women aged 14 or younger.
The problem with teenage pregnancy is it requires intervention from society. This debate is from the perspective of teens, and absent from the medical, ethical, and political views on teen pregnancy. According to Jewell, Tacchi, & Donovan, (2000), teen pregnancy is not a problem for teens themselves but more of a problem for society. The large numbers of unintended pregnancies are among unmarried teens.
