Despite the law itself teens aren't mature enough to be considered adults. An adult is an self sufficient person who handles all responsibilities and problems as they are coming. Teens are known for doing immature things that never really make sense and most still live with their parents. Teens shouldn’t be considered as an adult because the brain is not fully developed until at least 25. People should start being considered adults at the age of twentyfive because the brain isn’t fully developed, teens are willing to do crazy things for attention, and most teens still rely on their parents and it’s causing teens to grow up too fast. The prefrontal cortex avails control of impulses, the ability to solve, regulate emotions and organization when it’s underdeveloped the teen may not be emotionally stable, organized and be able to solve a “real world problem” which will lead to the teen not having the ability to work and eventually become homeless. Therefore an eighteen year old should not be an adult because of the brain's inability to control actions. A person’s action is crucial to their future and how they will be as an independent adult; become an adult means you must make actions to help you in life. Teens are not getting the treatment they deserve because they are looked at as young, reckless, and dumb when they should be looked at as young and underdeveloped. “One side effect of theses adolescents and teen brain changes in the reward system is that young adults become more sensitive to peer pressure”(Cox). When teens do dumb criminal things they feel as if they’ve done the best thing in the world but it reality it’s irksome. The brain's reward system is important because it is in charge of making one seek something with the intentions of gaining something from another situation. Especially for the teens growing up in a financially stable family. Parents won’t hesitate to bail out their kids if they get in trouble.Which will make teens depend on them and never want to leave home. If the teens stay home all day then they will never finish the goal that was once set out to achieve. Many people may have talks with teens regarding popularity, but remember that their brain wants acceptance. When a teen tries to impress someone or their peers ‘made’ them do it it is because they are striving to become popularly. “Reward system is sensitive with approval and disapproval”(Seekers). Teens seek approval from everyone. When a person doesn’t like them, a teen will go out of there way to get approval.
