Students shouldn’t be allowed to drop out before they turn 18 (Schragel). Most students that drops out of school before they turn 18 are mostly troubled students. They have no interests in graduating and acts like a clown so that everyone else could suffer right along with them. The students themselves make wrong decisions. They get into situations they can’t get themselves out of and don’t know how to deal with them. They have no one to turn to after they burn so many bridges , so therefore dropping out maybe what they want to do in order to forget about everything altogether. Honestly I don’t think Students under 18 should have a choice in dropping out because its not going to lead them anywhere they want to be. No one should be able to drop out , they will need their education.
They get involved with gangs, alcohol/drugs, get pregnant and even commit crimes (Schragel). Students get themselves into so much that they never have time to focus on school or maybe even just actually don’t care for school. The get drunk all the time and get high all the time and become brain damaged and forget who they are and what they’re living for. Most get pregnant and start feeling as if they don’t want to go to school anymore so that can take care of their baby. Or maybe they don’t have anyone to help them take care of the baby so they feel like they have no choice but to drop out. Minors also hang out with with the “cool” crowd at school and dealing with drugs and commiting crimes left to right. Some have undergone major illnesses and have missed too many days of school and have been informed that they will be held back (Schragel).
The family they come from could also have a huge part to do with youngsters dropping out before their time (Sch...

Recently the guidance department of Boston Latin School has instituted a new policy that limits the number of Advanced Placement classes students can enroll in during junior year. Previously students after being granted a waiver could take a maximum of four AP classes. However under the new guidelines all juniors are restricted to three. This is unfair to students who seek to reach their full academic potential.
Dropping out is a personal decision, but many students feel like it's the best option if they have personal or academic issues. Research says, ¨More than 27 percent say that they leave school because they are failing too many classes. About 26 percent of students say that they dropped out to become caregivers to family members in need, and more than 20 percent say that school simply wasn't relevant to their lives,¨ (Learning Liftoff 2). You can legally drop out of high school at age 17 in SC, and you can’t join the military until you are age 17. High school dropouts should not be required to join the military because they may have to drop out for family or personal reasons, or just because they are failing too many classes.
... my opinion it is just a way it’s just a temporary act which does not last. Youth need to interact with peers, help in the decision making process, sense of belonging, and develop a value system. If we kick them out of school we are not helping them become respectful citizens in the community.
less well in school and are more likely to drop out of school. Often, the reason for dropping out
Many fall into peer pressure that's because of the friends they come across with. Friends can influence them so much once becoming an adult it isn’t the same because your brain has grown out of it. Many also lack confidence while many look like adults their brain resembles a child’s. While their bodies are aging their brain is rearranging itself in a way that temporarily makes it act the same way it did when they were younger. Most teens are overly emotional studies have found that teens have a much harder time speaking and to other people and so they sometimes react irrationally to emotional situations. Many parents wonder what happens to the smart child they use to have many still put in the exact same effort but get different results that's because the brain losses tissue over the years. Losing brain tissue can cause a teen to act immature and not quite like an adult
Not being able to go to college is one reason why students’ shouldn’t drop out of high school. If you want a job that requires a bachelor or master’s degree you have to go to college to get. For example; if you wanted to be a Lawyer or school teacher or a business owner you would have to pass your GED test or make the choice to finish high school (“High School Dropouts”). If you still want go to college but you drop out you have to pass your GED test to go to college. If students’ would finish high school it would be a lot easier with a diploma than trying to get your GED to go to college, because if you finish high school with a diploma and don’t have to worry about taking any test to go to college. But if you don’t pass then you can’t do anything college related.
I do not agree with the bill that would require a person to earn a high school diploma before he or she can receive their driver's license. In high school, a lot of teens parents are not reliable enough to take them back and forth to school every day. If the teen lives far from the high school it makes it even harder for them to find a way to school. The two years between sixteen and eighteen give the teen time to learn driving skills and become better at driving. If they cannot get it till they are eighteen now it is the cause of a mistake they have made in early driving so they should not get it till then anyway.
Students should not be able to drop out of school at any age; no matter how responsible they may be. If most eighteen year olds do not know where they want to go to college or what their major is going to be, then what about the students who are considerably younger; not just by three years, but five or more. If eighteen year olds have trouble making good decisions, than what makes people think that younger students are smart enough, and responsible enough to make a decision such as: dropping out of high school all on their own. Back when I was in high school, I would see some of my fellow classmates, particularly the younger ones, talk about making decisions for the smallest things. In particular, it would be about changing a class, because they did not like the teacher or because they wanted to be with their friends in another class. Well, if it took them mere seconds to make a decision that quick--- on something as simple as a class change, and then afterwards they regretted it; I can only imagine how much they would regret dropping out of school. With the economy now a days, if people without an education are going back to school in order to find work, then those who are sixteen or younger-- are never going to survive without an education. Younger students are known to make hasty decisions, therefore it is in their best interest that they wait until they are older to make life changing decisions, and let the government choose for them--- the age that’s appropriate for dropping out.
It has been known that young people who drop out of high school and do not earn a diploma come to face more problems later in life. Some struggles they may experience are unemployment, poor health, turn to drugs & alcohol, and live in poverty. High school students who dropped out before graduating are more likely to drink, smoke, use illegal drugs, committing crimes, and becoming teen parents. In the states of North Carolina alone it is known that approximately 53 teens become pregnant every day, North Carolina is said to have the 9th highest rate for teen pregnancy ...

High school can be tough for many teenagers. Some students may feel as if the classes they are taking are boring or the material being taught will not help them later on in life. These students begin to not show up for class and then their grades start lowering drastically. Next, these students come up with the idea that dropping out is the easiest and fastest way to escape all the stress that is caused by academics. However, they need to start looking at the bigger picture and asking themselves if quitting school is going to help them reach their personal goals. Most people want to live a life filled with laughter and have the least amount of trouble as possible. Dropping out of high school will not bring joy to anyone, it will only affect the dropout and also our society in a negative way.
Schools can give responsibility to students but never without a cost. Students should have to chance to prove their worth to schools and show how responsible they can be as adults. When students go to college classes as high schoolers they sometimes tend to have more free time during those times. If a child has enough responsibility to take those classes they should have enough to leave school and be trusted to come back to school after their free time is over. Although leaving school early is not something that is smiled upon it should be because some students are ahead and can work their schedule to allow extra time because of hard work in early years.
Sometimes teenagers may struggle with certain actions which may lead to them being depressed. These causes maybe, academic pressure from parents, bullying, verbal abuse, and chronic illness. Parents' most times place high academic expectations on their kids, not considering the child’s academic ability. When kids are not appreciated for the effort they put into their school work, but rather are scolded, they may end up seeing their selves as not good enough. This can lead to them being depressed and may consider dropping out of school.
Dropouts in school have been an important topic in education since the number of students that are dropping out has been increasing over the years. There is more than one reason students decide to leave school before graduating from high school. In the Gate Foundation report, they do a survey to investigate the main reasons of why students of age 16-25 years old drop out of high school. According to the Gate Foundation report, they are five main reasons why students are dropping out of school. Almost half of the students in the survey responded that one of the major reasons of dropping out of high school was because classes were not interesting or boring. It is true that if a person does not feel interested of learning something, then it can
