Many argue about kids participating in school sports or if they shouldn’t be allowed to participate school sports. Sports have been in schools for many years, and a lot of kids play sports all around the world. Kids should participate in school sports because participation in school sports helps athletes in school, school sports helps kids be active, and school sports helps kids learn more about life.

In the U.S., sport is widely recognized as a tool of child development and health promotion; with 75% of parents of children in middle or high school saying they encourage participation (“Facts: Sports activity and Children”). This helps kids with health promotion and what your kid does to his body. People asked parents about playing sports positively and they said it helps them with physical health, giving the child something to do, teaching discipline or dedication, teaching how to get along with others, mental health, social life, skills to help in future schooling, and skills to help in a future career (“Facts: Sports activity and Children”). There is evidence that kids should not participate in school sports because “It is reported that some NFL football players have exhibited signs of Alzheimer’s in there 40s as a result of concussions” (Cohen). So if kids get a concussion when they are younger could get Alzheimer’s in there 40s as a result of concussions. There is an estimation two million high school students have got concussions and other injuries. So many kids got hurt that there were 500,000 doctor visits and 30,000 hospitalizations each year (Facts: Sports activity and Children). However, kids who play sports have better grades in school, build friendships, and teaches kids life lessons. However Participation in sports helps kids stay fit, not only physically, but also mentally. Research shows that physical activity helps promote healthy bones, muscles, body weight, and joints and also helps activate the brain ("Facts: Sports Activity and Children"). This shows that kids who play sports are fit physically, mentally, and know how to treat their body
