Recommended: The education struggle for undocumented immigrants

Should illegal immigrants be granted the same educational privileges as citizens? There has always been controversy whether or not to give these type of student the same privileges as citizens or correct legal documented students the same privileges. This is a legal status issue dealing with educational privileges at the college level. These privileges are but not limited to, scholarships, federal financial help, in-state tuition, and acceptances to colleges. All these obstacles are most commonly presented after the 12th grade is completed. “There are an estimated 65,000 undocumented students”(Advising Undocumented Students, Web.). Just like citizens, illegal immigrants need these privileges such as scholarships to be able to pay for college. Most students pay through college using FASFA, illegal immigrants should be able to apply for this help as well so that its made possible for them to expand their education. Without the financial help many students will decide not to attend college and just strictly work. I’ve seen it first hand within my family. Having to struggle daily at minimum wage jobs to sustain a family because education was out of their financial reach. With that being said, it’s leaving the United States with less and less educated people. The population continues to grow generation by generation society is being swamped with the children of these illegals that were brought here at a very young age. For example, “Children born abroad who are not U.S. citizens or legal residents who graduate from U.S. high schools each year.”(Advising Undocumented Students Web.). All these students know is this country, and should have the right fulfilled by educating being within their reach as well as financially approachable as well as fair. “They are therefore ineligible for state aid and the lower tuition charged to state residents.”(Advising Undocumented Students,
