In America there is a serious epidemic that many people do not notice. As the majority walk through the streets freely, work for sufficient pay with safe work conditions, there are people who are silently suffering. A large number of the population don’t have equal rights specifically the right to drive. This part of the population is known as illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants should continue to have the right to get a license because they made sacrifices, already work in dismal conditions, and U.S. citizens waste the privilege. Illegal immigrant’s driving rights is a large topic in the U.S., especially since President Barack Obama passed a law that gave illegal immigrants the rights to a special privilege I.D. and license. The topic has become more frequent in conversation due to the presidential election looming around the corner. The idea of giving non-U.S. citizens licenses eludes a large number of the population. The question still remains whether or not illegal immigrants should have driver’s licenses. Illegal immigrants should continue to have the right to obtain driver’s licenses because they made sacrifices, already work in dismal conditions and U.S. citizens waste the privilege. license. They risk their lives to get into a country they believe can be an opportunity for a better life. They risk being separated from their families by staying in a country where they’re not accepted. They risk their freedom each and everyday working at jobs where they could be forced to work like slaves just to survive. They sacrifice so much that they have earned the right to a driver’s license at the least. Illegal immigrants already have to work in dismal conditions unlike many U.S.
citizens who are allowed the right to a license. They are forced to work for jobs so dangerous they could die, but they can’t complain to the authorities because of fear of deportation. They are not in a position where they have many choices for jobs so they are forced to take almost any job that comes their way. They are forced to work in jobs that pay them below the minimum wage, but gives them the same amount of hours if not more than their co-workers. While going through all this hard work why should people who struggle so much be refused the right to a simple license to lighten their already heavy
workload. Americans waste a privilege that illegal immigrants are working so hard to maintain as their own legally yet people question whether they should be allowed to keep their rights to a license. American citizens use the privilege to commit crimes or escape justice by law. They use this privilege for no reason except to have it. They gain it just to lose it for a short period of time and gain it back for no reason except to lose it again. Americans waste the privilege so why not give people who will use it for the right reason.
“An estimated 4.5 million illegal immigrants nationwide are driving regularly, most without licenses, according to an analysis by The New York Times.” Advocates for immediate deportation of all illegal immigrants believe that because the immigrants broke the law by coming here in the first place, they will continue to break other laws because they have no respect for our laws. According to the Center for Immigration Studies immigrants routinely perform “False Personation of a U.S. Citizen (18 U.S.C. § 911), Fraud and False Statements (18 U.S.C. § 1001), and Social Security Fraud (42 U.S.C § 408).” In order for an illegal immigrant to get a job in the United States they must impersonate a U.S. citizen by claiming to be here legally, thereby they are making a false statement, and in most cases they must provide a Social Security Number. If they are here illegally, they do not legally possess a Social Security Number, so they obtain one illegally thus committing Social Security
The United States has found that there is approximately 13 million illegal immigrants residing within its borders and that number is predicted to rise with the years to come. Although there is no definite number; there is a great chance that more than half of these 13 million illegal immigrants drive illegally in the United States. This means that there are more than six million drivers on the roads who are not educated on American traffic laws, who are not registered on the government database, and who have no insurance to cover their accidents. On top of that, if pulled over, law enforcement has the ability to immediately deport these immigrants if they do not provide proper paperwork. It is a known fact that people from all over the world immigrate to the United States in search of the American dream. This is the land of opportunity and no matter how much this country denies it; it needs the labor of illegal immigrants to prosper. In order to create a safer America, illegal immigrants should be allowed to obtain a driver’s license because it forces them to be insured, it stops them from being deported when pulled over, and it assists them in contributing to the prosperity of the United States.
Leilah Burdette Ms.Long/Mr.Herendeen Period.6 Feb.26.2016 Should Undocumented Students Receive a College Education? (Draft 1) Do you believe all children should have the opportunity to go to college? Most importantly many children want to go to college in America to better themselves and to live comfortable. There are many children who are undocumented who want to attend college (Tamer). Now only 18 states allow undocumented students to go to college and only five offer financial aid (Anderson).
Allowing immigrants in the country needs to be viewed in terms of what they can add to the economy, not the burden. This is because undocumented immigrants’ contributions is very significant compared to the burden they bring to the United States as argued in some quarters. Most immigrants come to America with an intention to earn money and improve the living standards of their families. As such, the undocumented immigrants provides the economy with the most mobile and efficient pool of workers who are ready to work in a 24/7 economy (Becerra, Androff and Ayon 116). In addition, the U.S government needs to allow the undocumented
The United States is in the midst of a major debate over immigrants and their place in our economic and political life. As during other times in our history, immigrants, are being blamed for causing or contributing to the social, economic and political ills of our society. Politicians from both major parties, at both the national and state levels, are promoting a range of punitive legislative proposals that single out immigrants for adverse treatment by the government. Many violate basic civil liberties principles.
An illegal immigrant, who works for their keep in an unknown country, contributes to taxes, stays out of trouble, and just wants a better life in a foreign country, on unknown land should be recognized for their contribution to that particular society. An illegal immigrant is a person who migrates to a different country in a way that is in violation of the immigrant laws of that country. Immigration has been a divided topic for many years in America- illegal immigrants are sometimes seen as a burden to America, but others view them as an economic savior. There are over 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States and many Americans have mixed views about where there stance should be regarding citizenship. Illegal immigrants should be granted citizenship based on the United States need for e legalized workforce, the increase in tax revenues that would decrease the nation’s debt, and the boosting of America’s economy.
Immigration has been a problem for so many years. This issue began in the 19th century and yet is still a major problem in the U.S. Illegal immigrants don't have many rights living in the U.S. They have a hard life because they don't have the same opportunities as a u.s citizen has. Many of these people get treated unfairly simply because of the fact that they are illegal. There is cases where they have been treated aggressively by the authority. Everyone needs equality no matter where they are from. Most of these immigrants are latinos that come from central america. People from the united states are allowed to go and have a nice vacation in these places but yet those there have to cross a border and put their life at risk just to have a better life. Why do these people have to risk their lives in look for something better. The united states promises equality and this is what attracts others and its sad that they can’t come in legally without having to risk their lives. The ones that are here are working hard and most of them do no harm. Deportation should not be used on illegal immigrants.
Should Illegal Immigrants Have?. Ed. Lori Newman. Detroit: Greenhaven Press, 2006. Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. Gale. Houston Community College. .28 Sep. 2011
A lot of people argue that immigrants should not have the same rights as an American citizen, but that idea is not so American, is it? America is known as the land of the free, but if people who come here to make a life for themselves, legally, are denied of their rights we are selling false hope.
A topic crucial to the world today is illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is when people live in a country without permission from the government, nor have any legal documentation. As more and more illegal immigrants enter the United States, it either upsets some people, or others feel like they should just grant them ability to pursue life, liberty, and happiness because that is what the Constitution says. Some people feel that illegal immigrants should be protected by the same rights and laws as American citizens. On the other hand, many people believe that this is a horrible mistake. They feel that the rights of citizenship should be earned and not extended to people who haven broken the law just by being in the United States.
The United States has seen a gradual increase in the number of illegal immigrants who cross its borders for the past fifteen years. According to a 2013 report by the Pew Research Center, almost twelve million undocumented immigrants were living in the United States in 2012. (Gomez, A.) According to William Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution, immigration is “starting to have a bigger impact on more States while it continues to have a very big impact on traditional immigrant magnets such as California” (Haya El, N. and Kiely, K.)
Throughout the past centuries, immigration has had many positive and negative impacts on our country and society. Law and order have been the founding cornerstone of our democracy, and the mandate of the U.S. Constitution is for Congress to do the work of the people and that of the nation. Immigration has continuously been a passionate debate within our society. This particular topic will always be a sensitive subject due to Americans personal beliefs and morals. Some citizens believe that illegal immigrants should not be able to work in the United States for any reason, while others believe illegal immigrants are helpful to our economy.
The travel that illegal immigrants have to come to the United States is as hard as their life back home, but as soon as they settle down, their quality of life will start to improve. Not only do immigrants come here for a better life, but they also happen to improve the economy in U.S. upon crossing
Who is an immigrant? An immigrant is a person who has a citizenship in one country but enters another country to set up as a permanent resident. Sometimes countries are suffering greatly from lack of leadership, internal strife or war, and a collapsed economy. This is the case in Somalia, as well as in Syria, Libya, and Yemen. Syrian people are moving to Europe in order to find a peaceful home. Mexican immigrants come to the US looking for jobs. The people then move to new countries where they don’t speak the national language. In America, when the immigrants come, there are many difficulties: cultural differences regarding time and scheduling, transportation issues, and language difficulties.
Firstly, there are several advantages of immigration for countries such as economic growth, cultural exchange, distribution of population and low cost labor. One of the major benefits is economic growth. Globalization plays a prominent role in immigration. Immigration brings innovative ideas and makes good career. Moreover, global market appears only due to immigration. According to Dogra (2011), there are many benefits in terms of economic growth to a country. Immigration is a process which increases consumers by a large percentage. Furthermore, it is very beneficial for companies to get profit and sell their products in their relevant field. In addition to it, more and more immigrant’s leads more sales taxes it helps to a country to boost
