“Be prepared”. Powerful words, with universal meaning. Recalling my childhood this tried and true motto was constantly made known to me. My parents, my teachers, my peers, and all those who looked upon me with care, walked to its beat. This very same motto is still something I swear by, and as such a case exists, one should always be prepared to be unprepared. With this said, early college is the next step I would love to take to better prepare myself for a well developed career. But I understand that this endeavor is no easy one to bear on the shoulders, however, I plan to see this program to the very end. A valiant goal, but without the aid of such virtues as hard work, dedication, and perseverance; a task of this caliber would not be possible. This program contains within it a plethora of wonderful opportunities. The main draw being the fact that a college degree awaits those who have the vigor and drive to claim it. A dynamic and well rounded student will flourish in this course. I see myself as an advocate for these traits as I strive to grow and improve as a student. I have maintained very high grades throughout my …show more content…
It took four years of hard work and dedication to finish what I had started. Endless hours of paperwork, a three thousand dollar service project, and many leadership positions consumed this time span. However, I pressed on and despite the doubt that I could ever complete such a laborious and daunting task. But I always had my loving and energetic family to turn to whenever my batteries had begun to run dry. WIth their help, this chapter of my life was finally able to come to a close. On September 16 of this past year (2015), I had finally become an Eagle Scout. All of the irksome, meticulous tasks were complete. And with this said, I would be elated to open up a new chapter of my life with the same virtues at my
In the book Letters to My Daughters, poet Maya Angelou wrote “I am a spring leaf trembling in anticipation of full growth” (163). Anticipation is a good description of how I feel about being a thirty-six year old college freshman. Anxiety, self-doubt, and dogged determination are on my list of emotions alongside anticipation, if I were being honest I would add. Providing my children with security, find true happiness in my career, and conquer my fear of failure are just a few things that hold my hand as I take this leap into higher education. Friends and family are surprised that I have gone back to school. In January of 2015 when I applied to South Plains College, I was working for AT&T making a good living. My mother especially couldn’t
I am Nursing major and with that degree to become a Nurse Practitioner who specializes in the Cardiovascular System to reduce the rate of heart diease in America. I am a hardworking individual and I take my academics very seriously. I understand that I am at school for a purpose and know my purpose is to further my education. I am just trying to make it. My parents always told me growing up “ In order to get something you never had that I will have to do things I have never done.” No one prepared me for college, because I am a first generation college student. In addition to being a first generation college student ; I am also a first generation high school graduate. I use my my parents trials and tribulations as my motivation, because I want
As Pharinet says “Embrace the reality that college is not for everyone”(682).
“Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” -John Dewey. This quote represents my view on how education plays its way into life. Early College is a way I can take an education to help better my future. I want to go somewhere in life, and I want to prove that by going the extra mile.
College is around the corner and that means everyone should have their mind set out on which college they want to go to and what major they are interested in. However, they do not necessarily know what they are getting themselves into on how college will really be like. Nor do they know if their academic skills will help them out in the real world. Unfortunately, I am one of those people; not knowing what to expect in the near future and unaware if I am ready to handle myself out in the real world. However, I want to change that and transition my mind from not having a single clue to being prepared on tackling obstacles over the years.
So completing the rank of Eagle Scout has been has been one of the greatest things I've accomplished because of its effect it has taught me many basic life skills that are important to be successful, it has given me the edge in the modern job market, it has also given me great people to look up to in the chance to be looked up to. This has been one of the greatest effects of a decision of

Thus, despite the tearful pleas of my mother, I enlisted in the U.S Army in January 2013. I graduated Basic Combat Training in June of 2013, with the title of honor graduate. Then in November of the same year, I graduated advanced individual training for Health Care Specialist with the title of honor graduate. My sense of pride and fulfillment was the biggest it had ever been. Though unconfirmed by anyone else, some of my old ballcaps stopped fitting.
Yet I deeply yearned to still become one who earned the highest rank in boy scouts. For approximately three years, I made no visible progress. The only thing that stopped me from becoming an eagle scout was the large service project that must be led by myself. So close to the end, having completed all steps to my goal besides this one. I just lost determination though.
Everything from this program will enable us to transition into the workforce with an upper hand from other universities, on top of hard work ethic, I believe not only can I be the best at what I do, but assist becoming the best as well. My third and final circle, economic engine. Pursuing a career as a landman has so many rewards and benefits. Unquestionably it fueled my economic engine as a career path. Having a Hedgehog Concept is an important step in going from good to great;
I’m a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College this is my first semester as a college student. I plan to go to college for four years and only be at TC3 for this one semester, then transfer to a four year school. College has grown around the world more than ever and more people are attending college more than ever. I have chosen to go to college because of the rewards after graduation. Yes it is another four years of school but by getting more education and an extended degree gives me more opportunities for better jobs and more money. The career I have chosen to study is business administration. I am hoping that it takes me to a great job managing a company or possibly being an accountant.
Reflecting back, this program has enriched my professional career, knowledge, and perspective of nursing in various ways. I believe I have developed advanced critical thinking and analytical skills, high EI based on learned knowledge, flexibility to accept change, and rational reasoning/knowledge to understand EBP and nursing research. The program offered me more than I had expected, in terms of knowledge, evaluation, analysis, synthesis, competency, and creativity. Each course and its innovative learning style (e.g., voice thread, youseeu, journal club, etc.) challenged, empowered, and motivated me to perform better, aim higher, and excel. Upon graduation, I intend to take a minimum six month break to enjoy quality family time and social life before embarking on a master
The program administers great flexibility, which allows the fortuity of pursuing my dream career while still getting the work experience I need. The options granted by this program are one of the many reasons why I became interested; allowing myself to take evening, weekend or online classes. Going into the Human Resource field, this is something to appreciate since it gives me – a part-time student and full-time employee – the time to complete the program at my own
In terms of Personal Development I feel that the course has helped me to develop the skills I need to improve my grades, and to build my confidence.
This course has helped me in many ways, especially time management, health, and money. Instead of having a very relaxing week and then panicking at the end of the week when everything is due, this course has helped me to plan out my studies. Planning them out helps me produce higher quality work and assists me with my stress problem. One thing that has helped a lot is getting short easy assignments or parts of assignments done in short periods of extra time I have. For example, instead of turning on that TV, wait ten minutes and knock out an assignment. Another asset for myself has been setting dates to have assignments done. Although these assignments may not be due on that day, getting them done and out of the way, makes more time for other
