High School students are leaving without essential business skill and other knowledge that is needed to get and be prepared for college, their career, and to function as informed, intelligent, and productive customers and citizens. Sound education content and instruction are being compromised in a few schools when it is instructed by business courses or topics are assigned to the teachers who do not possess adequate business knowledge, a business education degree, or assigned or other curriculum areas. Students should be required to take an essential business skills class because it would help them in not just the business world but in real life also. Usually, it is not common for people to just build up their degree in Business Education but they get their degree in Business and also in Primary Education which would be used for middle school or Secondary Education which is the last four years of high school. The most common degree that people usually get is the Primary Education degree so they can teach high school for the more advanced classes. So when they start to choose what they want to do they must need to make the choice between if they want to teach high school or middle school. Making that choice will not be as tough as you think because it indubitably depends if you are better with middle or high schoolers. After you make that decision you will actually be in college. When going through college and getting their bachelor’s degree in either Business Education or a Business major and an Education major they will also have to go through a teacher preparation program. Also, they will have to complete a student teaching internship program in a business classroom if they did not already do that in college. Once they have done that, they will have to take a state-required test for business educators. If they are going to teach anything that has to do with a business that test is required and they must pass it. Then, if they pass that test they can apply for their teaching licenses, they also must pass the test but every state varies. Prospective teacher should prepare to take the Praxis Subject Assessment. This exam measures the academic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics of the teacher, designed to prepare extensive assessments that measure the knowledge and skills of the applicant entering for the teacher preparation programs. Once high school ends, most students progress to college after a year or two from graduation. Due to all of the expenses for textbooks and etc., the student might realize that they don’t comprehend what to conserve or spend their money on to get through their years of college which will leave them clueless on what to do next. With situations like this that might occur, all high school students should take a financial literacy class as part of the mandatory course in order to get a diploma. With a numerous amount of students not having enough knowledge about how to manage their money carefully, presumably they’ll have trouble living their life as an adult. Taking a financial literacy class would help students stay out of debt, they’ll be prepared for their future, and they would recognize the discrepancies between wants and needs.

When students are in high school, is the end, they are finally free after 13 years of schooling, but for many people graduating from high school is just the beginning. After graduating from high school, students are faced with the difficult decision of whether or not to continue on with their education. And if they do decide to continue on with their education, what form of education will they choose. There are a variety of different options open to students each accompanied by their own pros and cons. These options include; no school, 4-year university, or 2-year community college.
One does not have to graduate high school and go straight to a four-year university. It is sometimes better for a student to go to a community college and focus on transfer courses, or simply get an Associate’s Degree. On the other hand, there are young adults that prefer to leap straight into a university and focus on the specific program for their Bachelor’s Degree. Although they are both a lot alike, there are many differences between the two. Universities are known for having large campuses; consequently, resulting in large number of students in each class.
In previous times it has been thought, by some, that with a college degree a person could have any job and would be very successful. In Colonial America, colleges were mainly founded by the wealthy. The goal of college at this time was to “produce Christian gentlemen who would inherit their family business” (Thelin). After a “college boom” so many state colleges were built and some became co-ed, adding “special” courses for women. The goal of college attendance still was not completion of a bachelor’s degree. College during this time was mainly primary learning so students could eventually move onto college-level higher learning. “Students sometimes took two years of courses in order to earn an LI (license of instruction) certificate to teach public school” (Geiger). Recently there has been debate over whether or not a college degree is really worth it anymore. Some people think getting an education isn’t worth the money. It can be argued that with a college degree you can get a better job. Going to college, seems to be the obvious next step for many high schoolers. Getting a college degree and education is worth it. Students will come to find that the benefits of having a degree outweigh the negatives. College helps prepare students for the future and exposes them to life experiences.
Within recent decades, college has become a more easily available path than it has been for the past generations. In a current news release, The Bureau of Labor Statistics stated that, “Of the 2.9 million youth age 16 to 24 who graduated from high school between January and October 2014, about 68.4 percent were enrolled in college in October” (BLS Economic News Release from April 2015). When a student graduates high school, most of them intend to continue on to college. They have the idea that, while there, they can break away from all the general classes and just focus on what they want to learn. However, for almost all students, they find that this is not the reality. Just like high school, they find that they have to take approximately two years in general studies in order to attend and graduate with the major of their choice. General education classes should not be required because a majority of the information learned has already been covered in past years. Most of the courses do not benefit a student 's major, and the total amount of required hours for these classes can become a big waste of time and money.
Numerous amounts of people have financial problems when they get out of high school, so what should the school board do? In 2007, thirty-four out of fifty states have personal finance courses in their curriculum (Bernard 4). A financial literacy course seems to be what a majority of states are doing. Financial literacy courses have their pros and their cons just like everything else. Financial literacy courses bring up some very important questions.
High school seniors takes deep breaths and parade onto the stage. The beginning of a new chapter awaits as they make the journey from one point of the stage to the end. Within each of these domains are components which are the performance factors that are relevant to classroom teachers. In domain one the components include: demonstrating knowledge of content and pedagogy, demonstrating knowledge of students, setting instructional outcomes, demonstrating knowledge of resources and technology, designing coherent instruction, and designing student assessments. The components for domain two include: creating an environment of respect and rapport, establishing a culture for learning, managing classroom procedures, managing student behavior, organizing physical space. In domain three the components included are: communicating with students, using questioning and discussion, engaging students in learning, using assessment in instruction, and demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness. There is only one component that was rated for domain four which is reflecting on teaching.
