Should Boxing Be Banned?

In 1997, the injury rate predicted in the sport of boxing was 7,257 injuries and 10.8% of those injuries were estimated to have affected people between the ages of five and fourteen. 1.3% of those injuries were predicted to be in the ages between zero and four, and 55.8% of those injuries were in the group of ages from fifteen to twenty-four.( National Electronic Injury Surveillance System et al., Estimates for Sports Injuries 1997) Boxing can be a safe and fun sport as long as it is practiced and played properly. Boxing should not be banned because it can help relieve stress, and like running it is a good addition for getting in shape. It should also not be banned because boxers know the risks and they still choose to do it ; it is their choice not the community's. Another reason not to ban boxing would be because if boxing is banned it will be enforced by people who still like it and those who still want to fight, and if one dangerous sport is banned then all sports will eventually be because all sports have some dangerous aspects in them.

Boxing has been around for many generations, and has been practiced all around the world. In fact, in World War II the cooks would fight to earn respect and sometimes fought for money. Boxing originated in Rome and Greece where they would tape their hands, which led to excruciating fights.(Boxing Today, Some Boxing History) Over time, boxing has evolved from gaining respect and from earning money to learning self-defense. The first recorded boxing match occurred in 1681 when the Duke of Albemarle arranged a match between his butler and his butcher. Boxing is a great sport and is really fun, if there are people out there that want to get in perfect shape, then boxing would be a great option and people also learn self-defense. Boxing strengthens muscles and makes them more resistant and it also makes the body more flexible. Everyone in their life should try to box at least once and if they do not like it then try something new but it is definitely a perfect way to get in shape and weapon to use just in case a person is mugged. Boxing is a stress relieving sport that physically enhances the body and makes it healthier and is easy, whereas running five anguishing miles a day leaves the body dilapidated . Boxing is fun and exciting and is great for the human body.
