In what areas (e.g., selection and placement, organizational development, performance management) will you, as a business psychologist, affect or contribute to the business world? How will your contributions differ from those with an M.B.A. or other business training?

I hope to affect and contribute to improving many facets of the business world during my career as a business psychologist. My overall plan is to achieve short term goals, move on to the long term goals, and eventually teach all that I have experienced and learned during my tenure as a business psychologist.
Short term career goals are to work as a personnel research psychologist and/or large project consultant for the federal government. I will conduct studies to expose weaknesses and strengths of individuals within government organizations, projects, as well as other national initiatives. The primary goal of the research will be to develop assessments and adaptive test by applying business psychology theories into assessing job skills, knowledge, …show more content…

What makes me unique compared to other candidates is my over 13 years of military experience combined with my nearly seven years of federal government experience as a civil servant--for a total of nearly 20 years of government experience. During my career with the U.S. Government, I have worked in fields such as acquisition management, project management, facility management, and I have managed/supervised personnel along the way. My interactions with personnel over the years has helped me to develop and refine effective leadership skills that can be applied to major business initiatives and high-level consulting positions. More specifically, I have developed and refined my leadership skills through conducting employee career development/training programs, subordinate counseling, and the many management positions that I have served
