Sherman Alexie and Richard Wright are famous writers who faced a lot of different problems and challenges. Alexie was born on October 7, 1966, and grew up on the Spokane Indian Reservation. Also, he was born with brain disease and at six months underwent a difficult operation. He learned to read by age three, and his first book was the graphic novel about Superman. Which kindled a lifelong love of reading in him. Wright was born in 1908 in Roxie, Mississippi, the heart of the segregated south. He had a long and time gaining access to books because he is African American and at that time there was a lot of racism. Alexie and Wright were similar in many ways, such as they both broke rules and overcome stereotypes and became enlightenment through books. They also had many differences including their background and attitude towards books.

First of all, Alexia and Wright read books more often than others. For example, Alexia in his story "Superman and me" (page 75) said "I read books late into the night until I could barely keep my eyes open" he read books everywhere such as, in the car, basketball games, shopping malls and etc. Also, he said "I read anything that had words and paragraphs" this quote confirms that Alexia, love reading and get knowledge. Wright in his books "Black Boy" ("Discovering Books" part and on the page 50) said "I ran across many words whose meaning I did not know, and I either looked them up in a dictionary or, before I had a chance to do that, encountered the world in a context that made its meaning clear" this quote means, if he didn’t know meaning of words, he just keep reading and learn more every time while he read
