In order to do this, they not only bribed USC’s admissions workers, but created lies to make their daughters appear more skilled and smart than they really were. Similarly to any other parent, they wanted their daughters to go to this high-profile school to enhance a good reputation under the family name and create a good future for their daughters. “Loughlin and her husband Giannulli were indicted by the FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office for fraud and bribery offenses on March 12, 2019, in a nationwide college bribery scandal” (“Lori Loughlin” Wikipedia). Loughlin bribed several college professors with a total of $500,000 to gain her daughters’ admission. Knowing that they should have earned their way in themselves, Loughlin simply did not care. During this process, Loughlin made very dishonest decisions; it went as far as creating fake athletic profiles for her two daughters and forcing them to pretend that they could do certain things such as boat rowing to include in their college application. “In reality, neither of Loughlin's daughters were athletes or had any intention of participating in USC's athletics programs at all.” (“Lori Loughlin” Gale …show more content…
Simply participating in this scheme shows Loughlin’s hubris and belief that with her status and wealth she was automatically allowed to break the rules and manipulate a high profile university admissions process. Even after later being caught, Loughlin immediately denied and attempted to lie her way out of the situation. “The actress Lori Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, a fashion designer, have pleaded not guilty to new bribery charges prosecutors have brought against them in the college admissions scandal.” (Taylor). At the beginning of the controversy, Loughlin did not show any acknowledgment of her involvement in the illegal scheme and attempted to show her innocence through all of the accusations. However, under all of her hubris, Loughlin did begin to fear what was going to happen in her near future. Luckily, with the help of her lawyers defending her, she continued to defend herself and not open up to anyone saying she helped her kids cheat their way into college. With all of the controversy and overwhelming amount of accusations and evidence, Loughlin continued to announce herself

First, illegal recruiting in NCAA athletics is tremendously unethical. “The extremely high stakes of recruiting can sometimes compromise the values that coaches need to teach: honesty, integrity, and loyalty” (Spillane). No matter how high the stakes, there is no reason to put all morals and values aside for the sake of a college sport. Whether it is a low level recruit or a superstar, it all has to deal with the same principle, meaning that if the coach doesn’t regard the two recruits equally he isn’t doing his job right. As expectations for the coach begin to rise and job security decreases, it tempts the coaches to go out and attain the recruits no matter what the cost (Spillane). Although a coach may be susceptible to losing his job, it is better to be fired than to give up all of their morals and integrity. If a person is to give up all of their morals for any reason, it truly shows what type of person they are. Also, as explained in Modern Sports Ethics by Angela Lumpkin, there may not be any moral obligation for a coach or recruiter to make the right choice (66). Therefore, the coach’s character becomes ...
Yet Kate is not just a victim of this irresponsible behavior. She contributes to it. She, too, makes excuses for her actions, making it seem as though she cannot be any more culpable for her conduct than she already is. She tells Chris that she and Joe "'are stupid people. In the beginning of inter-collegiate competition and even now the governing body the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) wanted athletes to maintain their amateurism. Being an amateur means, to remain unpaid why competing and performing a c. Athletes were to come from the student body and off-campus recruitment of athletes was prohibited. The problem with the many rules and regulations of the NCAA early on was that they expected schools to police themselves and uphold a certain amount of morality, but without checks and balances corruption was sure to take place and did so. From the late 1920’s and into the 1940’s big-time athletes would be “sponsored” by alumni in order to get them to play for that schools team. The alumni would usually just pay the tuition for the athlete and usually it was seen as a loan but rarely got paid back.
Toni Collette seems to be that rare creature – a born actress. At the age of 11, she faked appendicitis so convincingly that doctors performed surgery on her, even though medical tests all showed there was nothing wrong. She has a face which effortlessly transmits emotion to an audience, and the instinctive ability to inhabit a character so completely that few people actually know what Toni looks like in real life. Much prettier than on camera, is the general verdict. Born and raised in working class Blacktown, Sydney, she dropped out of the National Institute of the Dramatic Arts to work in film and theatre.
College athletes are manipulated every day. Student athletes are working day in and day out to meet academic standards and to keep their level of play competitive. These athletes need to be rewarded and credited for their achievements. Not only are these athletes not being rewarded but they are also living with no money. Because the athletes are living off of no money they are very vulnerable to taking money from boosters and others that are willing to help them out. The problem with this is that the athletes are not only getting themselves in trouble but their athletic departments as well.

Speed limit signs are posted on every road in this country, and 80% of car crashes in the US involve a lack of adherence to the speed limit, but most drivers, teens included, don’t find them to be important. More often than not, speed limits are seen as “guidelines” rather than rules. This mistake, although common, can mean the difference between life and death.
