Recommended: The qualities that make a hero
A hero is a person you love or admire. A hero doesn’t want a reward. A hero wants support or help from a person. We are all heroes, but we see ourselves as nothing. To be a hero you must have some factors like bravery and sacrifice. Any person in the world can be hero. Even a young person could be a strong hero in the future. A hero doesn’t have to kill many soldiers in a war. Even small sacrifices for a poor person could be considered as heroism. For example, someone needs blood to be alive and you donate some of your blood to give him chance. In this example you did a small favor for a parson. You see it nothing, but it is more valuable than you think. In this essay I will write about a hero made big changes in Kuwait and saved many people’s lives from danger. The hero is Sheikh Jabber Al-Ahmed Jabber Al-Sabah.
Sheikh Jabber Al-Sabah was the president of Kuwait. He was educated at Al-Mubarakiya School, Al Ahmadiya School then awarded him an honorary doctorate from the University of Japan, on October 14, 1965. That’s meant he reserved the certificate without being taught at the university. His father, Sheikh Ahamd Al-Jabbber, was a large influence in his life. His father was interested in culture and education. In the beginning of his career in 1949, his father appointed him as vice president of al Ahmadi city. He Started gaining some skills in leadership and began to recognize the government management and policy, and he was responsible for the public secure. Through his work in Al Ahmadi, he started to know more about the importance of oil and the economy, and continued this business for 10 years until 1959.

...l Sabah was a great man to Kuwait. Sheikh Jabber Al Sabah succeeded with winning the hearts for people of Kuwait. Sheikh Jabber Al Sabah showed me that anything can be achieved. Sheikh Jabber always listened to people’s problems, no matter how big the problem. He always discovered a way to solve people’s problems. That is the reason why people of Kuwait love him as their own father. The work achieved by Sheikh Jabber Al Sabah is huge. Sheikh Jabber Al Sabah man of peace and vision. He also created the Reserve Fund for future generations, a fund to collect money from oil revenues, is to save the stability of future generations as the oil age material limited the right of future generations to take their share of (askari, 1958). His name will never be forgotten from people of Kuwait. In my opinion, life without Sheikh Jabber Al Sabah is difficult for people of Kuwait.

Therefore the two countries continued in their own pursuit for oil. This competition became extremely apparent in the battle for concessions in Saudi Arabia. On February 13, 1945: President Roosevelt met with the King of Saudi and made great strides with him personally...
Saddam Hussein’s main purpose of sending troops to take over Kuwait was to take control of their oil fields, which Hussein believed would be an easy task; however, he failed to understand that the United States and United Nations were keeping a very close watch on the Iraqi’s actions. Hussein also had other motives, such as freeing himself from the debt he was drowning in from the Iran-Iraq War just two years earlier. He set the pretense for war with Kuwait by defining their refusal to give land to Iraq as an act of military belligerence. President Bush ordered the United States to respond just five days after Iraq had invaded Kuwait. If the United States had not taken action, Hussein would have possibly continued to invade other oil producing countries and take control of the United States main sources of oil as well as threaten a number of innocent people’s lives.
Recently, students of Olympian High School have stumbled upon the question, "What is a hero?" In the school's 2013 Young Minds Essay Contest, students are expected to consider universal concerns and ideas. Many times when people think of a hero, they think of Superman, Batman, and many other Marvel characters who display unattainable superpowers. However, heroes are prevalent throughout the world. A hero can be anyone who has the desire to help others, brave in dangerous situations, and does not look at exterior gain from helping others.
Only two weeks later Hussein held a speech, where he accused the neighbor, Kuwait, for draining oil from the Ar-Rumaila oil fields, this was an oil field located along the border, and was a part of both countries. He accused Saudi Arabia and Kuwait for conspiring to keep the prices of oil low to pamper the western oil-buying nations. In addition to Hussein’s speech, the Iraqi troops had already started to gather along the border of Kuwait, ready to invade. President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt was alarmed by this, and started negotiations between the two parts to try to avoid nasty things to happen, and to keep the US from getting involved, but after only two hours, he had to give up, and on August 2 1990, he ordered the invas...
Then on the 22nd of August, Iraqi soldiers pervaded Kuwait taking and occupying everything of Kuwait government and property. Kuwait then sent out a cry for help to the big almighty country of the United States of America. Sheikh Jaber Al Sabah the current emir of Kuwait immediately met with the United State’s Secretary of Defense Richard Cheney at the time to ask for some sort of assistance to help get back Kuwait and drive the Iraqi forces back to Iraq. The United States then agreed with the Sabah and then started making plans of how they would take back Kuwait. The U.S gave specific orders to Saddam Hussein the leader of Iraq to withdraw his troop by the 15th of January of the year of 1991. If Hussein failed to do so the U.S would basically help Saddam and his military get out of Kuwait.

Over the course of time, there have been many distinct heroes with significant characteristics. A hero can be viewed and described many different ways depending on the person. They may be courageous, intelligent, kind, tough, or even troublesome. However, the more common ‘hero’ is revered to be physically brave and intellectually smart. Although one may be intellectually smart, that is not truthfully what makes them a hero. A hero is someone who sacrifices themselves for the benefit of others and is courageous and brave.
known when he killed 21 of his cabinet members. He wanted to make his country whole once again. So in 1990 he invaded Kuwait and in less than four hours he had taken Kuwait and controlled 24% of the worlds oils supplies. Al Of Saddam's actions foreshadowed that he would attempt an assault on Saudi Arabia. This was where the United States entered after a call for protection by Saudi Arabia. The United States set a deadline of January 5th, 1991 for all Iraq forces to be out of Kuwait, but Saddam ignored the deadline. That triggered Dessert Shield, and the build up of troops in the region and eventually lead to Desert Storm, a all out attack to free Kuwait.
...inated from Iraq and the region. After his timely death, the region was able to run smoothly, so to speak. Iraq has had it’s ups and downs when it came to the Hussein regime. On the positive side, Saddam did boost oil revenue and production early in his presidency. Yet, throughout his presidency it was a downward spiral that created his rule as a tyrant and abusive leader who killed thousands of people and injured countless more. What Saddam Hussein did to the Iraqi Kurds can never be fixed, but they can now live with a peace of mind and not have to worry about chemical attacks anymore. Saddam Hussein is and was a tyrant no matter how you look at it. Even if there was a good thing a shadow of bad things followed. He had the people of Iraq fooled at the beginning, but they soon saw the true side of Saddam Hussein… evil, cruel, and an abusive leader to his country.
...t he was not going to surrender under any circumstances. When that was understood the United Nations knew they would have to result in war, to discontinue the aggression and end the killings of Kuwaiti civilians.

Physically, he was tall and strong, with very broad shoulders. Selim had a trademark mustache that stood out. Selim had the normal upbringing of a prince.
Saddam Hussein Saddam Hussein, an Iraqi political leader, was born to a poor Arab family on April 28, 1937. Hussein studied law in Egypt after his attempt to assassinate the premier of Iraq, Abdul Karim Kassem, in 1959. In the summer of 1968, the Baath party returned to power and named Hussein as deputy chairman of the Revolutionary Command Council. Hussein has been described by many as the most powerful person in Iraq because of his intimidation of enemies, careful control of his political power, and his military purges. Saddam finally gained control of the Iraq presidency in 1979. His many goals as President included attempting to increase industrial production, reorganizing government policies in agriculture, and improving education and the status of women. Hussein first began a successful development program of Iraq’s huge petroleum resources. However, this development and economic and social advances were at risk when Iraq went to war with Iran from 1980 to 1988. Hussein started this war to control Arab-inhabited areas and especially for oil resources. Hussein is also known as a ruthless leader who used chemical weapons on Kurdish people seeking freedom in the 1980’s. In August, 1990, Hussein invaded and annexed Kuwait for violating oil production laws set by the Organization of Petroleum Exports Countries(OPEC). (Kuwait had lowered the price of oil.) The Iraqi forces killed many Kuwaiti people and stole or destroyed much property. Hussein apparently wanted to use Kuwait’s vast oil resources to help Iraq’s economy. Many people believed that Iraq would next invade neighboring countries such as Saudi Arabia. Some of the countries that opposed Iraq’s invasion and that sent forces to this region were the United States, Canada, and several Arab and Western European nations. These countries formed an allied military coalition that caused a worldwide embargo against Iraq. The United Nations Security Council condemned Iraq’s occupation and approved the use of military force on Iraq if their troops did not withdraw from Kuwait by January 15, 1991. Hussein ignored this demand and refused to withdraw. The consequence of this decision was to go to war. On January 16, 1991, the allies bombed military targets in Iraq and Kuwait. Iraq, in return, launched missiles against Saudi Arabia and Israel. The U.S.-led military coalition drove Iraq’s armies out of Kuwait. This war, called the Persian Gulf War, lasted only six weeks. On April 11, 1991, the U.N.

In 1980, the militant state of Iraq, led by President Saddam Hussein invaded the Republic of Iran. Predicted to be an overwhelming victory for Iraq, the war took a different turn. It was an even battle, one that lasted eight years. After these eight years, the Iraqi economy was in a dire situation. Iraq's oil business was losing to other Arab countries such as Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, who were producing more oil for less money. Iraq needed more oil money to support the massive military it had amassed. On August 2, 1990, Iraq decided to invade Kuwait so that they could obtain Kuwait's oil and possibly gain access to the Saudi oil fields. This led to political conflict that eventually started the Gulf War between the US-led UN Coalition forces and Iraq. Although the US was successful in forcing Iraq to retreat from Kuwait, they made a poor exit which allowed Iraq to keep much of their military and left Hussein in power, which in turn caused many problems in the years to come.
