Successful Military Operations: Operation Desert Storm

Recommended: Operation desert shield

Desert Storm, one of the most successful military ops in military history. They went in and went down to business then gone out just like every other mission should be done. Despite its brutality this Op could be decided as a U.S. victory.
Desert Storm all started with the Gulf war. The gulf war was started by two Eastern countries who always seem to fight over all of the little things in life that may or may not be true. It all started on the 17th of July in the year of 1990 when Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein thought that the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait of flooding the worlds oil industry. Rumaila oil field is a oil line that runs beneath the two countries. Hussein then accused Kuwait of stealing oil directly from the pipeline.
Then on the 22nd of August, Iraqi soldiers pervaded Kuwait taking and occupying everything of Kuwait government and property. Kuwait then sent out a cry for help to the big almighty country of the United States of America. Sheikh Jaber Al Sabah the current emir of Kuwait immediately met with the United State’s Secretary of Defense Richard Cheney at the time to ask for some sort of assistance to help get back Kuwait and drive the Iraqi forces back to Iraq. The United States then agreed with the Sabah and then started making plans of how they would take back Kuwait. The U.S gave specific orders to Saddam Hussein the leader of Iraq to withdraw his troop by the 15th of January of the year of 1991. If Hussein failed to do so the U.S would basically help Saddam and his military get out of Kuwait.
After no response from Hussein a group of UN forces decided to build in the neighboring country known as Saudi Arabia. On the 12th day of January President Bush was given the go ahead to wage war. The Gulf War w...

...lf War the Iraqis were a little ticked off due to their losses against the american soldiers they decided that they were not going to quit their war with us there. This war may have been one of the best military victories in military history but then again it also started up another war that would end up way worse than this one. Leading to one of the most brutal Iraq wars that the United States had which then later led up to the Afghan war. Desert Storm pretty much started a domino effect which the average civilian could look at and say that Desert Storm was bad or they could also say that it was good. Not only causing another war it also caused another disease. This disease which affects the war veterans from the Gulf War and Desert Storm. Leaving out the brutality of the Op it was a great success for the military so it can be marked down in the books of the good.
