Shaw Shank Redemption is arguably one of the greatest films ever created. I think that this statement is very true. This movie could not have been better. The movie represents what it was like in the 1950's - 1960's to be in prison. The movie shows how inmates lived their lives and how it was hard for them in the real world once they escaped or got paroled. Towards the end of the film Andy Dufresne did all of the tax returns for the prison and guards. in the end before Andy escapes it shows Andy putting a false set of tax returns into Warden Newton's safe. The Night that Andy makes his escape he takes the real taxes which he put in his name so he could make the tax claim and come out with a huge lump some of money. In the end the film shows
Andy driving on the Gulf in a sports car and working on his boat as Red is soon to appear. After Andy and Red reunite the movie shows warden newton seeing his fake taxes as the police show up and warden shoots himself in his office. When authorities walk into the prison all guards and staff are arrested and taken to prison. The movie greatly explains the hardships of life at Shaw Shank and life out of prison. I feel that this movie should receive a five out of five stars for its realism and creativity. I seriously Believe that Shaw Shank Redemption is the greatest movies of all time.
The auteur theory is a view on filmmaking that consists of three equally important premises: technical competence, interior meaning, and personal signature of the director. Auteur is a French word for author. The auteur theory was developed by Andrew Sarris, a well-known American film critic. Technical competence of the Auteur deals with how the director films the movie in their own style. Personal signature includes recurring themes that are present within the director’s line of work with characteristics of style, which serve as a signature. The third and ultimate premise of the Auteur theory is the interior meaning which is basically the main theme behind the film.
The Shawshank Redemption is an inspiring story about Andy Dufreine and his efforts to maintain hope in horrible situations. The directors used many effective methods that displayed signs of hope in such a horrible place. Andy maintained hope by distracting his mind and always staying occupied. Andy was also inspired to survive by helping others find hope in life.

The movie Malcolm X, starring Denzel Washington was based off of the autobiography of Malcolm X. The main premise of the film focused in on his adult life and his transition into the activist we consider him. Throughout the film the main character, was constantly developing, and certain turning points in the film led to his growth. These changes in his character mostly must do with the influence of religion in his life. He fully understands who he is as a person in terms of religion and personality.
“Fear can hold you prisoner, Hope can set you free.” (“The Shawshank Redemption”) The 1994 American drama “The Shawshank Redemption”, which was written and directed by Frank Darabont, is a movie easily worthy of recognition. The story begins when Andy Dufresne, a young vice president of a prestigious bank, whom is wrongfully convicted of killing his wife and her lover. He is then sent to jail where he learns lessons about life through his friends and his corrupt scheme to launder money. After nineteen years Andy tunnels out of the prison into freedom. While it appears simple on the surface, the use of many techniques such as: color, symmetry, soundtrack, symbolism, irony, and bible references help to gain a deeper meaning than what is simply seen by the naked eye. This movie is intrinsically laced with the themes of friendship, discouragement, and redemption. Surprisingly enough, hope is also a major theme, given the majority of this movie is based in a jail. And although Shawshank presents much injustice throughout the justice system, good will always trump evil and hope will be achieved.
addresses the process of adaptation used when converting a literary hypotext to the film medium; The Shawshank Redemption (Darabont, Frank) is the film adaptation of Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption (King, Stephen). The story follows characters Red and Andy who serve life sentences in Shawshank Prison. Over many years a strong bond develops, and Andy, wrongly convicted, inspires many at the prison. After Andy escapes, Red decides to follow him upon being granted parole. The story privileges themes of hope, freedom, institutionalisation, friendship, time, and brutality. The film is similar to the novella, however, some aspects differ from the hypotext. Within the novella, Brooks is a minor character, Tommy Williams doesn’t die, and Warden Norton merely retires. Through altering the story, the film modifies the essence of Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption for film audiences and utilises film language to convey meaning. By adding certain scenes, the text takes on stronger themes of hope, institutionalisation and brutality. This draws attention to the themes within the hypotext and thus enhances the parallels between texts.
Shawshank Redemption is about two men, Andy and Red, who are both imprisoned at Shawshank prison and end up bonding and finding redemption together through random acts of kindness. Even though Andy was innocent, he was given two life sentences and was to serve them at Shawshank prison.

In the novel The Catcher in the Rye by: J.D. Holden hides something from his own mind, people around him and us by thinking and focusing on things he usually lets pass him on by.
For this assignment, I decided to do my film review on To Kill a Mockingbird (Mulligan, R., & Pakula, A. (Directors). (1962). To Kill a Mockingbird[Motion picture on VHS]. United States of America.) I have a personal connection to this film because it is one of my most beloved novels by Harper Lee. I have never watched the film so it was a nice experience to see the characters I have loved for years come to life just before my eyes. The film particularly focuses on a white family living in the South of the United States in the 1930s. The two siblings, Jem and Scout Finch, undergo major changes while experiencing evil and injustice in their small town of Maycomb. Jem and Scout’s father is named Atticus and he is a well-respected man in the town as well as being a lawyer.
In this movie the main character Tyler seems to be a disturbed angry unhappy young man. Not because he is a bad person, no it is because he is a kind and sensitive boy who hoped for a better more connected life for himself and his family. The death of his elder brother by suicide and the separation of his family caused him to lose hope in life and succeeding.
One movie I decided to watch was Malcolm X. There were a few scenes that represented the essence of the movie. They include Malcolm in jail, and his death. Additionally, the movie confirmed my perspective on the issues presented in the film. Some of the historical events described in Malcolm X were able to be connected to our present problems.
Metaphorical blindness is a common theme in writing and film because it’s a part of life that invokes change constantly. If we are blind to something, we can only see it’s existence from the outside, rather than truly understand it and know why it exists. Unfortunately, a lot of the aspects of life that cause blindness in this world will never be possible to fully understand. One question in particular has been debated for centuries; does the world has inherent meaning to it? “The Allegory of the Cave” by Plato (from his literary work “The Republic”) and the film “The Sunset Limited” by Tommy Lee Jones (originally a play written by Cormac McCarthy) explore the conflicting sides
hard on her to lose another son after the death of Willie (another son of hers). This is where she utters a memorable line “All everyone will remember of me was that I was crazy and that I ruined your happiness.” She also tells Lincoln that he should institutionalize her again if he can’t stand the grief. This is what struck me the most about Mrs. Lincoln, was she really out into an insane asylum. “In 1875, more than a decade after her husband was assassinated, Mary Todd Lincoln found two men outside her room in Chicago. They had papers ordering her arrest. Taken immediately to a local courthouse, Lincoln found an all-male jury already waiting for her, set to determine if she should be institutionalized for insanity. ” The marriage between
The movie, Fifty Shades of Grey, portrayals its dominant ideology sexuality through the story between two main characters: a female literature student named Anastasia Steele, and a young male billionaire Christian Grey. In this movie, it indicates strong traditional heterosexuality, and it reflects the gender roles about submission and dominance, which leads to gender inequality through misinformation. Although entertaining and refreshing, this movie brings more negative impacts more than positive ones.
