On Sethe’s journey she meets a young lady by the name of Amy who inspires her to carry on with the escape attempt to the degree that she ends up naming her daughter, Denver, after her last name. Without her assistance, Sethe may have never had the opportunity to give birth to Denver, so she finds interest in her mother’s recollection.
