Self-Development Plan
Since the effectiveness of teacher effect on students’ performance and schools’ quality, becoming teacher leadership is such a challenging obligation of teachers in higher educational institutions. Regardless the leader position, all teachers can be an effective teacher by developing their teacher leadership performances. Teachers who attempt to develop their teacher leadership must seek the opportunity for professional growth in terms of personalized leadership learning approaches. In this individual learning approach, teachers can use a personal strategic plan process to navigate their journey in developing their teacher leadership performances.

Australian Catholic University (2012) suggested that personal development planning should focus on promoting the current competency strengths and diminishing weaknesses in relation to the current role and potential future roles. To start this planning, I used the planning (P) process of the P-O-L-C framework (Carpenter, Bauer, & Erdogan, 2009) to guide my thought. Mission & vision, strategizing, and goals & objectives of my individual development plan must be established in the planning process (Carpenter et al., 2009). The mission and vision statement are a depiction of what I want to achieve in my career and personal growth. In addition, I must set up my goals and potential strategies to promote my personal development. To establish the goals of the individual development plan, the SMART format must be used (Duffus, 2004; University of Wisconsin-Madison, n.d.). Particularly, the effective goals must include a timeframe (Duffus, 2004); therefore, my individual plan will establish the short-term and long-term goals. The following table represents my mission, vision statement, values, and individual development plan.
