If she had lived longer, she could have been more of a star than any artist today. With the voice of an angel Selena Quintanilla, a famous Tejano singer of her time, was shot and killed by none other than her friend and fan club president. She sadly passed away in 1995 and still, to this day, people stream her songs. She had such a huge impact on the Tejano music industry and many fans were devastated by her passing. She has won 1 Grammy in her lifetime and 1 in the present day. She won a Grammy in 1993 and won another one in 2021 just to show that we are still dreaming of her. Yolanda Saldivar Selena's former friend, fan club president, and manager of both her boutiques. The two were meeting in a hotel room to discuss Selena's concerns about Yolanda embezzling money from the fan club. Hotel guests and staff report hearing two women arguing and soon hearing gunshots. Yolanda shot Selena in the back and Selena proceeded to run as fast as she could to the lobby where they could call the police. Selena’s last words were “Yolanda Saldivar room 158” before losing consciousness. The bullet hit one of her main arteries, leading to her sad and hurtful death. Yolanda later confessed to the police. In the October 1995 trial, Yolanda claimed that the shot was an accident but was later found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. Yolanda is however up for parole in 2025, 30 years after Selena's death. Many fans mourn the star's death, including her family. Two years after her death, her family opened a museum to showcase the star's life. Her husband Chris wrote a book about his forever love for Selena called “To Selena with Love” which was published in 2012.
