Speech Title: “Click It or Ticket”
General Purpose: To persuade my audience on why wearing a seat belt remains important.
Specific Purpose: After listening to my speech, my audience will be persuaded to always wear a seat belt in order to enhance their safety in the car.
Central Idea: When you are driving or even riding in a vehicle, buckling your seat belt will decrease your chance of death or serious injury, if you get in a serious accident.

A. Attention Getter: Alexandria Virginia- A 40 year old passenger was killed in a crash on April 18th, 2015 on Richmond Highway. According to Fairfax police department on wsua9.com the passenger was not wearing a seatbelt. (Spoken why playing a video).

A. Problem: How many people still do not wear their seat belts and the consequences that come with that. 

I. First, lets talk about some serious problems of not wearing a seatbelt. Not wearing your seatbelt can result in death or serious harm. So many unnecessary deaths occur for the simple reason of not wearing a seatbelt
a. According to Road Skills Web Site, in 2013 wearing seatbelts saves over 2,000 lives a year. “Car crashes are a leading cause of death for people age 54 and under in the United States- in 2012, car crashes killed more than 33,000 people. The injury count from car crashes in that same year was a staggeringly high 2.2 million, resulting in $50 million in work loss and medical costs, which was stated by Centers of Disease Control and Prevention in 2013.
b. Seat belt rates usage in the United States was about 87% in 2013. Which was stated by seatbelt legislation in the United States Web site. That’s still 13% of individuals who are not wearing their seatbelts. Although 87% may seem high percentage its those 13% that could end up being in an car accident. Seat belt usage still remains low for individuals between the ages of 18-24. This refers to you individuals sitting right here right
