I will volunteer to provide public service through Boy Scouts of America for at least 100 hours which will benefit my community at large and also help me and fellow scouts to advance to eagle rank I volunteered on service events organized through my local boys scout troop, on my own Eagle Scout service project and Eagle Scout service projects of about 10 fellow scouts. This benefited my community and helped me and scouts to deliver our service project, which is a requirement to achieve the Eagle Rank. I learned and developed planning, communication, and leadership skills by helping and observing my fellow scouts work on their Eagle Service Project, which helped me to lead and deliver my own Eagle Service Project and get my Eagle Rank. I want to develop and improve my leadership skills as well as my communication and public speaking skills and use these skills learned to demonstrate leadership. I attended the Thunderbird National Youth Leader Training (NYLT) Program from June 14-20, 2015, a seven day outdoor training conference for youth leaders which was conducted by the Three Fires Council using a syllabus that was developed by the Boy Scouts of
was a thirteen year old girl who didn't care about what she says or what she was thinking. Margot was Anne’s older sister she was very caring, helpful, and smart. Mr.Frank was Anne and Margot's father he was caring and helpful he helped put people in the annex who were Jewish even though there wasn’t a lot of space. Mrs.Frank was Anne and Margot's mom, she was also Mr.Frank's wife. Anne wasn't very close to her mom. Mr.Dussel was Annes roommate in the annex, he was very strict with Anne. Mr.Van Daan was very selfish. He ate a lot, he smokes, and he is overweight. Mrs van Daan was Mr.van daan's wife. she only cared about Mr.Van Daan and she loved her stuff. The setting was in Amsterdam, in an Annex they were in hiding because the green police would take them to a concentration camp because they were Jewish.
I volunteer in a lot of activities, especially considering I am a girl scout. We organize many drives for things such as food and sports equipment and everybody enjoys themselves while doing it. I volunteer at church sometimes, contributing my time to making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the hungry, instead of doing pointless things at home. Being a good person isn’t just about being kind to everyone around you. You have to put those great things about you into use and help your community. That’s what makes you a great choice for the National Junior Honor Society.
Even to this day I tried to exhibit many of the life skills I learned through the Eagle Scout process. I believe that completing this has led me on to my future career goals in conservation. Boy Scouts has given me a great interest in the outdoors, and also taught me the importance of environmental stewardship.
activities where I provided service to others. For example, through Track & Field I helped raise
However, most of my volunteer work comes from outside of the school, such as; Pelotonia, Light the Night for leukemia and lymphoma, Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities, etc. For many of these organizations I have volunteered more than once. Volunteering at Light the Night has a story. For my 16th Birthday party, I wanted to have my friends and I volunteer for the day while having fun at night. So I had 7 boys and girls, along with me, volunteer for Light the Night, organized by me.
The most honorable experience that I have had is working on my Eagle Scout project. I learned how to become a better leader, tackle difficult situations and how to work with others. All of these skills helped me be a better person.
I have participated in several volunteer opportunities as a Girl Scout, singing Christmas carols at a local hospital, picking up trash along the beach, working at a homeless shelter, leading events for younger Girl Scouts and much more. These opportunities have influenced me to become aware of the struggles within my
Volunteerism has always been the most important element of my overall involvement; my first, long-term goal reflects this. Since I entered high school, I have pursued many opportunities that exploit my desire to volunteer. I thoroughly enjoy giving my time and talents to those in need as well as the character and communication skill development with which volunteerism provides me. The skills that I have earned through my work with and for others relate directly to those required to be a successful leader. Like volunteerism, leadership, the subject of my second goal, is also something I hold close to my heart.
Being able to lead and help others is something that I realized I was good at. Going from the lowest cadet rank to the battalion commander taught me that time, respect and patience brings a better citizen out of one self. Adjacent to the program, I have experience with the military and drill instructors ideals when it comes to reaching a certain goal. One of my deep personal experiences that developed my rectitude and coherence was when I was the drill commander at my JROTC program.
I see leadership as a daunting challenge in a school. There are so many factors to consider and how each decision affects so many different aspects of the school environment. I know I need practice in presenting my vision and mission to a staff and being an effective leader to get a community to follow my lead.
I have participated in various community service projects; for example one in which as a class
Ever since I first heard about The National Honor Society during my freshman year, I knew I wanted to be involved with it. With this goal in mind, I have worked extremely hard the past two years to maintain my 4.0 GPA, improve in all of my sports, and help my community whernever possible. Some places/events I have volunteered for include the Hopedale day care, Oly Swish basketball camps and games, and helping renovate our high school softball fields. While all of these are enjoyable, my favorite, by far, is helping at Oly Swish camps and games!
Lastly, the chaplain aide would lead the troop on devotions every Sunday morning. He would also bless the food and pray before we went on the trip. All of these leadership positions that I had to be in to become an Eagle Scout taught me many lessons that will help me not only help me in scouts, but also help me outside of scouts. For instance, when we have a group project in school it always helps to have a group leader. This also carries into sports too. Sports teams need leaders in the locker room and on the field to keep people in line and make sure they are doing right. That is how being a Boy Scout and becoming an Eagle Scout has had an effect on my
For as long as I can remember, it has been expected of me to earn the Boy Scout rank of Eagle Scout. My Dad might mention it in passing at the dinner table, or one of my uncles would ask 6 year old me when I was going to start working on my project. My Dad and his two brothers are Eagle Scouts, so, as the oldest son, I was naturally the next in line.
I also had the privilege of helping with the Meals on Wheels non profit organization. My grandfather used to be a Meals on Wheels recipient and he would share with me how he enjoyed looking forward to their company and a hot meal daily. I volunteered because I wanted to give back and help someone else’s loved one in the same way. It was very rewarding delivering hot meals to people who didn’t have the means of getting one as well as being there for them to talk to. Overall, it was a very humbling experience, it made me realize just how blessed I am and how much I take for granted daily.
