If you've been wondering where all the cool kids are they're are Wink & Nod. Even the name exudes cool! This prohibition era bar and restaurant has a wine & cocktail menu that can put a smile on anyone’s face but the real diamond in my eye is their scotch club. I could kiss Michael Boughton for developing such a badass scotches list. They also have a scotch club that meets every Tuesday to try new and interesting Scotches. Michael Boughton is the Corporate Beverage Director for Boston Nightlife Ventures. The same group that brought you the Tap Trailhouse, Little Owl Tavern, Southern Kin Cookhouse, Griddler’s Burger & Dogs and soon to come Certified Meatball Company. I asked Michael what we can expect to see at the new Meatball Company and
Stephen Boos has worked in the food service industry for over 30 years. He started as a bus person and subsequently trained as a chef’s apprentice. Steve’s mother believed that a college education was something that everyone should receive. She felt that a college degree was a good investment in Steve’s future. In 1976 at his mother’s insistence, Boos moved to Northeastern Ohio to attend Kent State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After graduation, Steve began working for East Park Restaurant as a line cook. Using his education as a foundation, Steve made a point to learn everything he could about running a restaurant, from cutting meat to the bi-weekly food and beverage orders. His versatility, keen business sense, and ability to control costs resulted in Steve’s promotion to General Manager, as role he has held since 1995.

Royal Melendy writes about a rising social culture taking place at the turn of the twentieth century. He depicts this culture as the ambiance emitted in early Chicago saloons. “Saloons served many roles for the working-class during this period of American history, and were labeled as the poor man’s social clubs” (summary of saloon culture, pg. 76).
Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald was a writer, American Socialite, and an artist. She is the wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald, who strongly influenced his work. Zelda’s works of literature and artwork help defined the roars twenties.
In “Ted’s Bar and Grill” Mr. Daniels writes, “…we shuffle our greasy boots up to the bar where Jeannie serves up drinks with her long blond hair and nice ass.” (15). The language he chose to use conveys a lot to the reader. By choosing the verb, “shuffle” and describing their boots as “greasy” Mr. Daniels paints a picture of a seedy “shift” bar where workers go after work, before work, or during work to get drunk. This is not a classy establishment. Indeed, patrons are not striding up to the bar in wingtips to procure libations here. In addition, by describing Jeannie as having “long blond hair and a nice ass”, Mr. Daniels gives the reader another insight into what kind of bar this is and what type of patrons frequent it. One can assume that few, if any, of the regulars at “Ted’s Bar an...
Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots She became queen when she was only 6 days old. She was sent to France at age six to get married. She is the cousin of Queen Elizabeth I. Who is this elegant, yet struggling woman?
First off, I would have to say that this is a major mistake on Bruno’s part. He is employed by a company that specifically tailors to helping other businesses find the right spot for building new companies, eateries, and other similar projects (Timm, 2014).
I have chosen to research the prohibition party. Their logo consists of a camel, it is divided horizontally, the top half is blue with five white stars and the bottom half is red. The white stars are right above the horizontal white line dividing the blue half and the red half. The Prohibition party was founded in 1869 and is the oldest third party in the US. For 137 years this party was trying to ban the production and sale of alcohol in the US. In 1919, the 18th amendment, banning the manufacture, sale, or transportation of alcohol was ratified and added to the U.S. Constitution. Although the Prohibition party is still active, it has been slowly disappearing since the ratification of the 21st amendment in 1933 stating” The eighteenth article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed.”
For a little over three years, I've been a weekend bartender at an American Legion Club. I almost always work the entire weekends, open to close, which proves to be a tortorous schedule at times. Like the cafe in Hemmingway's tale, the Legion is a civilized place, often well lit, and quieter than most clubs. Because members have to either have served in the military during wartime or have a relative that did, the patronage is often older and more respectful than an average barroom. And because most members are older, they may not have a family to go home to, or they may be just a little more dismal because their lives have been longer and harder than most. In many ways, they are very much like the old man sipping brandy while hiding in the shadows of the leaves in Hemmingway's cafe. And in many ways, I am like the young waiter, anxious to leave.
During the 19th through 20th centuries, an uprising spread throughout America called the Temperance Movement. This movement involves the 18th Amendment which is prohibit alcoholic beverages in the United States and the 21st Amendment in the Constitution was passed and ratified, putting an end to the Prohibition from within the 18th Amendment. Many people supported this act because the movement objected the use of alcohol in a place called Harriman, Tennessee.
They have Investors Pub is a smaller, English Pub-style room behind our main Beer Hall for special events and private parties. You'll always find a place to sit with tons of elbow room, the beer lines are short and food comes pretty quick. The crowd was sweaty and friendly, comprised mostly of locals. The seating arrangements were straight beer hall, with long wooden tables that could each accommodate a few dozen people. My husband and I were tour my for Team B course project, and we enjoyed the opportunity to chat with one another, and meet the owner, Brock Wagner of the brewery, he exactly gave the tour of his brewery. The founder, Brock Wagner, gave a personal tour and recounting of the history of the brewing company. He was laid back,

In 1954, Roy Kroc, milkshake machine salesman, visited a restaurant in San Bernardino that run by two brothers, Dick and Mac McDonald. The restaurant offered very limited menu but operated with great efficiency, focusing on quality and speed (Our History, 2016). He was so impressed by their operation that he seized the opportunity to become their agent. In 1955,
