Schools Should Be Taught Differently

Students pay more attention in school if they are involved and interested in the subject being taught. Curriculum is blamed for stripping opportunities in the arts and other subjects in schools. Teachers are forced to focus time on test and a narrow range of subjects (Mindshift). Pushing arts out of the classroom has caused schools to be more test oriented. This causes less involvement by students and less creativity and in the classroom. Although a selected school curriculum creates a unified learning pattern, schools should not determine a set curriculum because rigid test standards provide less creativity and innovation in the classroom, all students should be taught differently, and regional and demographic educations should be taught differently.

Rigid test standards provide less creativity and innovation in the classroom. Experts say that students have to find how they learn the best to succeed in school. “Schools should be a place where kids can discover what they love. They should be able to ask the questions that matter to them and pursue the answer”(“Academic Teaching”). If students are not interested in what they are being taught they are not going to pay attention as much as they would if they had a passion and a want to learn that subject. A single set of curriculum guidelines can not be justified at a high school level, given the diversity of interest and talents among students (“National Curriculum is Bad”). Diversity of students’ should have a major impact on what is taught at school. This would help spike students interest in what they could possibly do in the future. Different factors should feed into what schools teach at school. All students should be taught differently according to what is best for them and what they are interested
