Explain at least five differences between popular and scholarly sources used in research. Some of the differences between popular and scholarly sources using in research like for instance scholarly sources will not usually have things like pictures or any illustrations but does sometimes contain things like graphs. Popular sources will contain some pictures and illustrations unlike scholarly sources. Popular sources are meant as entertainment they are design to entertain us and scholarly sources are generally are design and written to inform us. The only number that scientist have given is around 1.9 million animal species and there could be even more yet to be discovered. Scientist believes there are approximately 450,000 plant species in the world but even that number isn’t solid number to work with. The strengths would be how well it was written and the reliability of it is it’s from a popular magazine national geographic. The limitations are the source material used. It did not list the references or the data used to come to the articles conclusions. (Dell’Amore 2014) From the sources, you summarized list and explain at least five visual cues from the peer- reviewed, scholarly source that were not evident in the popular source. The scholarly source the author asked questions and gave answers to what a person would need in understanding species diversity and extinction. It explained details in plant extinction occurring around the world. The article was structured and offered detail about the problems of extinction occurring. The information had a good flow to it with details from the beginning to the end.
