I will talk about a topic in the social sciences and the theme that I have chosen from the curriculum goal is: “define the concept of culture and provide examples of how culture, gender roles and family relation varies from place to place and how it change over time". I will have Saudi Arabia and Canada as the focus.
I am going to start by define what Culture means, introduce the countries and talk about the Points in my curriculum goal.
About culture
The concept culture have some difficult meanings. One of them is culture as in music, preforming, theatre and so. The other meaning of it is culture as in Peoples Identity. It tells something about who you are, where you come from, and what you believe in, in this way, we can see that People have different culture and its all about where you live and where you have been raised.
(As we can see in the Picture here, it is People with difficult clothes and difficult marks, some of them have marks on their face for example. these little details shows us an Insight about where they come from and what they believe in.)

Saudi Arabia is located in the Middle East and it is the biggest country in the Arabian Peninsula. Riyadh is the capital of Saudi and the language that they use is Arabic. The population there is around 29,2 millions, so it’s a huge country with many People. There is almost desert areas and the weather there is very hot and dry.
The culture
The Saudi Arabia is a country with a huge culture and with many traditions. The culture is mostly influenced by their religion that is Islam. To the end I will recommend a movie for the ones that are interested in Culture, gender roles and so. I have seen a movie called “The green bike”. The movie is made in Saudi Arabia by Haifaa Al Mansour and its about a girl who wants a bike to play with her friend, but she is a girl, and girls is not allowed to ride bicycles. I will now show you a bit of the trailer.
Throughout the years, humans have shaped the world and many societies have developed different cultural patterns. By studying different cultures, we learn how to collaborate with different societies and we learn how to survive and adapt to environmental changes. Culture is the way of life of a society and is composed of shared values and beliefs. Every culture has different cultural elements that are vital to one’s survival in a certain place.
Saudi Arabia justice system is based on Sharia and Islamic law from the Quran and the Sunnah, which are the Muslim traditions formed from Islamic prophet Muhammad. The Saudi court system was created by King Abdul Aziz who founded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia back in 1932, the kingdom was introduced to the country between 1927 and 1960. The Saudi Arabia first criminal method was issued in 2001, decisions are made without juries and usually by a single judge. Located in the Middle East between the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea, Saudi Arabia is about one-fourth the size of the United States, and Riyadh, the capital, is located in the central eastern part of the country (Nations Encyclopedia, 2015).
People from Saudi Arabia are been stereotyped in many wrong and unfair ways. Many think that Saudis are primitives who live in tents and ride camels to work or school. I was once asked if I have ever lived in a tent or rode a camel. It is true that people from my country lived in tents, but that was more than hundred years ago. I have never lived in a tent or rode a camel. In fact, I am a good driver, and we have cars everywhere. Another stereotype that I faced is all Saudi males are womanizers, and they marry four women. My first American friend asked me if my father, grandfather, or uncles are married to four and if I was going to do the same. My answer was no and all people I know in my life are married to one woman only including my family members. It exists and it is allowed to marry four women but it is rarely done and mostly wealthy people do it. People always assume that I am unsupportive for women just because I am from Saudi. Women rights is a major issue in Saudi Arabia and the gove...

First of all, Saudi Arabia and China have some similarities. The former has the international airports and the latter has too. Saudi Arabia keen on literature just as China does. Fast food is popular not only in China put also in Saudi Arabia, for examples, Mc Donald's hamburgers, French fries and Kentucky fried chicken. In addition, both Saudi Arabia and China have made a mutually enriching exchange of cuisine. Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy ruled by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. He ascended the throne in January 2015. Other major political figures include the crown prince, Prince Mohammed bin Nayef and the defense minister, son of King Salman, Mohammed bin Salman. Power struggles between these individuals “creates an aura of instability” despite the crown prince’s increases in military spending and internal security to combat violent extremism (Mustafa, 2015). The government of Saudi Arabia also contains legislative and judicial branches. These branches hold very little independence from the throne because members are appointed by royal decree and the King must ratify all actions taken. As such, much of the power in Saudi Arabia rests in the hands of King Salman, his son, Mohammed bin Salman, and the crown prince, Mohammed bin Nayef. This power includes control of the economy as well as the
The word 'culture' is often described in terms of concrete ideas or social artifacts. Gary R. Weaver describes some common conceptions such as "good taste," "art or music," or "something that people in exotic foreign lands had."1 However, culture in the context of international assignments relates to how people perceive the world and the influence this perception has on their actions. It is culture on the interpersonal level. Different cultures can perceive the same thing differently, which leads to miscommunication and misunderstanding when one crosses into another culture not their own.
Saudi Arabia is an average sized country, roughly one-fifth the size of the United States, in the Middle East. The population is roughly twenty-seven million people. It is the birth place of the Islamic religion, which is Saudi Arabia’s main religion. Most of the country is desert and they have a dry hot climate. Saudi Arabia’s main export is oil. According to the article “U.S. Relations with Saudi Arabia.” Saudi Arabia gives the United States over one million barrels of oil every day. Although Saudi Arabia has a great economy they have very many conflicts within the county. In one instance, a person not from Saudi Arabia gouged out another man’s eye with a set of jumper cables at a gas station. While he was in prison he was given the opportunity to pay the man’s medical bills which was twenty-five thousand dollars. Instead his punishment was the old saying of “an eye for an eye”, so the government ordered for his eye to be gouged out and he had to pay for the man’s medical bills (“Saudi Arabia Court…”). We as a nation should care about Saudi Arabia because their foreign workers are being mistreated, domestic abuse is very high, and women have little to no rights in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia considered as a conservative and a tribal society. The women there do not have the permission to drive, nor do they have the right to issue licenses. In a country lacking from public transportation, the families suffering from managing their daily life, simple things such as taking kids to school, going to work, or even going to market. As a result, Saudi women currently depend on a foreigner drivers imported from other countries. However, not all families have the financial ability to provide drivers for female family members, so they have to rely on male relatives driving them around,
Culture simply means “the way we do things”; we can elaborate on this by stating that culture is the belief, orientation and mindset people perceive or believe a thing/task/behaviour should be.
Culture defines identity of every country and even of every person which include climate, lifestyle, food, music, traditions, norms, values, ethics, rules, regulations, political affairs, programs, language and religion etc. Every country has different culture which represent their society.
Culture is a complex concept, with many different definitions. But, simply put, "culture" refers to a group or community with which we share common experiences that shape the way we understand the world. It includes groups that we are born into, such as gender, race, or national origin. It also includes groups we join or become part of. For example, we can acquire a new culture by moving to a new region, by a change in our economic status, or by becoming disabled. When we think of culture this broadly, we realize we all belong to many c...
