The character, Antwone Fisher, undergoes many sufferings in his young life: abandonment from his mother, physical, mental, and sexual abuse, and the loss of his best friend. As a young man in the military, he is struggling with rejection, anger, and self-doubt; using aggressive behavior as a way to protect himself from being hurt. He only begins to address these issues when the Navy requires him to seek therapy; this is when he begins to express the traumatic events from his childhood. Talking about it releases emotions that he was holding inside for so many years. The main character in my book “Tucket´s Gold” by Gary Paulsen is about a teenage boy named Francis Tucket who lived in the mid 1900’s This brave character was taken from his parents over a year ago by Pawnee Indians while traveling the Oregon Trail. He held captive for days until he was rescued by a one armed mountain man named Mr. Grimes who trained him and gave him the skills so he could survive out in the wild. Now he is in charge of 2 orphans named Billy and Lottie and is tracking down his parents on the Oregon trail until he stumbles upon an ancient treasure and is being chased by bandits. Now he has use his great character traits such as being caring, protective, and skillful to stay alive. Throughout the story these traits affect Francis because without these exact traits such as being skillful he would have never survived on his own after being separated from his parents in turn, he would have never been caring or protective because he would have never found Lottie and Billy to be caring and protective to, and if he wasn’t protective or caring they all would have all died during the encounter with the bandits because he would not care. So as can see these traits change him from a boy “with plenty” and a fairly wealthy family to a caring, protective, and
Life can be like a river, gracefully winding down a mysterious path, uncertain of what lies ahead. What can relationships with your life? What if it could involve you in a good or bad relationship? This was effected in these fictional books, One for the Murphy by Lynda Hunt and Maze Runner by James Dashner, both prove that relationships can have the impact on your life. Carley from One for the Murphy has a Stepfather who is not nice. He gets arrested so Clearly goes to a nice foster family. Thomas from the Maze Runner is brought to a big maze with teen boys he does not know and he is very coarse so he breaks the rule. Relationships, good or bad, can leave a good or bad impacts on your life.
A hero is someone who goes on a life journey that is a quest for self-awareness and self-development. Published criticisms of Kesey’s protagonist, R.P. McMurphy, argue that his character is crazy and dangerous; I partially disagree disagree because McMurphy is also adventurous and has a good intention in what he does. McMurphy has a life journey that could consider him as heroic. McMurphy’s journey starts off with him working on a farm then he gets sent to a mental institute. During his time at the mental institute he meets new friends and his mentor, Chief. He also meets his enemy, Nurse Ratched who causes him setbacks. His friends helps him overcome these obstacles. McMurphy became a leader for the other patients at the hospital because he
In “The Red Convertible” by Louise Erdrich the two main characters Lyman and Henry are brothers that have an amazing relationship with one another. In the beginning of the story Erdrich writes about how Lyman and Henry bought a gorgeous red convertible; and together they went on plenty of road trips and bonded over the car. On the other hand, the two siblings in Alice Walker’s “Everyday Use” don’t have that same sibling bond. The siblings in “Everyday Use”, Maggie and Dee, are complete opposites. Dee is extremely vain, snobbish, and outspoken while Maggie is coy, insecure, and timid. Although Maggie and Dee aren’t as close as Lyman and Henry, they still have a very complex relationship in terms of being “close” to one another even though it seems as if they’re from two different planets. In the stories “Everyday Use” and “The Red Convertible”, the characters share one particular trait which is
Sméagol, from the movie Lord of the Rings, is a 589 year old hobbit creature who lives in the dark caves of the Misty Mountain, where his diet mostly consists of raw fish. He is lanky, pale, malnourished, and overall very sickly looking. We first saw Sméagol’s second personality when he was introduced to the “One Ring”. One day when Sméagol and his relative, Deagol, were fishing, they found the “One Ring” in the river. When Sméagol saw it for the first time, he automatically knew that he had to have it. This is the first time that we meet Gollum (in the movie). When Deagol refused to give it to him, Sméagol (acting as Gollum) strangled Deagol to death. After he was shunned by his family, he went off to live

The optimism and hopefulness in contrast to the negativity and bitterness that the characters Markwardt and Parsons display justifies their individual actions that result in the creation of the polar outcomes in their lives. The story displays Parsons as a positive and optimistic individual that creates great success for himself; while the story displays Markwardt as a negative and bitter individual whose self-pity places him in a lifestyle of peddling. Despite his disability, Parsons deals with his obstacles with a positive attitude, as he becomes “successful, respected, [and] admired” (Kantor 328) in spite of being “a little more than a skilled laborer” (Kantor 328) in his earlier life. Additionally, Parsons was able to amount to his success “alone, unaided struggling beneath handicaps” (Kantor 328), demonstrating the optimism and determination that he possesses to conquer his hindrances. On the contrary, though sharing a mutual disability with Parsons, Markwardt acts with a negative attitude towards his misfortune, attempts nothing to improve his situation, and becomes a “shaggy, thick-necked fellow” (Kantor 328) who collects donations to
The cast of animals that Wilbur meets in the farm serves as a collective word of advice of sorts. Although the advice that they offer isn’t always correct, such as when the goose suggests that Wilbur run wild and wreak havoc (page 17), they appear to be well-meaning and benign all things considered. They are also very fond of gossip, which is demonstrated by the rapid spread of the news of Wilbur’s escape (page 19). However, while most of them are kind-hearted, there is a singular nasty exception. This exception is a rat named Templeton, who is as self-serving and inconsiderate as they come. He blatantly expresses this by straightforwardly and rudely telling Wilbur that he will eat the latter’s food because he “hasn’t got sense enough” to eat
Jerome was a very influencing character in the film and in the screen play, there were times that he was the worst character and times he was the best. Jerome was also known as Eugene because he gave his identity over to Vincent. So much happened in this story with Vincent that is was hard to really get connected with Jerome. He was obviously a main character as well but he was in the background so much that it was easy to get caught up in Vincent’s character. As the story line progressed Jerome became a much bigger character even if he was just behind the scenes some of the time. It is very easy to sympathize with Jerome as you start to notice him more and more because it is really sad but very amazing what he is doing
One's upbringing has a huge effect on his or her life as well as their decision-making skills as to what’s important and what’s not as. The Other Wes Moore was about exactly that how having a good stable family lead Wes one to a road of success and how an unstable family that leads Wes two down a road of trouble and heartache.

People have many different opinions on the rights and wrongs of hunting which can reveal a person’s true character. There is proof of this in the passage The Most Dangerous Game. In the text a character grows bored of hunting animals and decides to prey upon humans instead, and another character looks down on less advanced beings. General Zaroff is shown to be self-assured while hunting people. Rainsford is perceived as an egotistical person who later becomes a self-deprecating one. The situations the two characters are in unveil their true personalities. By using indirect characterization in the passage, Connell, depicts General Zaroff as a static character and Rainsford as a dynamic character.
