My two characters are Juliet and the nurse. Juliet is a foil to the nurse by reason of her being so young and clueless, but the nurse is more aged and wise. They go surprisingly well together since they have many different experiences and feelings to help each other. Juliet helps the nurse with feeling young again and realizing how things have changed and the nurse helps Juliet to see how things should be and giving her wise information to help Juliet. It is like a mother daughter relationship. Juliet is always worried and complaining about something especially when she sent the nurse out and she didn’t come back at Juliet’s call “O, she is lame!” (L4 Sv A:v). The nurse is wise in her ways by helping Juliet decide why Romeo is and isn’t a good fit and giving very well examples( p.417 S;v A: 4). Juliet is also very demanding when she is talking to the nurse as she doesn’t tell Juliet everything right away, “Nay, come, I pray thee, speak; good, good nurse, speak.” (L:31 S:v A:4). Juliet and the nurse may but heads sometimes but they like each other despite their different opinions. In further details and examples of Juliet and the Nurse being foils to each other they usually get along very well. The Nurse has been there for Juliet since she was a baby and their relationship grew from there. Juliet’s mother is in the picture, but depends on the Nurse to care for Juliet. The nurse is a lively woman who is very loyal to Juliet. She is much closer to her ward than lady Capulet is, being Juliet’s primary care. There are many changes in the relationship between Juliet and her Nurse throughout the play “Romeo and Juliet”. All through the play the Nurse continually appears. Trust, protection, mischief, willingness and the loving care of Juliet by the Nurse are all shown. At the beginning of the plot, their relationship is clear.
