In the tragic tale of Romeo and Juliet, parental influence, personal decisions, and stories of miscommunication come together and decide the fate of the star-crossed lovers. Even though many things could be blamed for the unnecessary deaths of Romeo and Juliet, there is no way to decipher who is to blame for the deaths of the young lovers. The tragic deaths are a result of a series of events caused by the actions of their parents, their decisions, and miscommunications. Not all of the blame can be put on Romeo and Juliet's parents, yet they did play a role in the tragic deaths. Romeo and Juliet could not be together because their parents were rivals and being together would betray their parents and what they have been told their whole lives. The miscommunication between Balthisar and Romeo eventually leads to the death of both Romeo and Juliet. When Balthasar says” Her body sleeps in Capel’s monument,/ And her immortal part with angels lives.”(Romeo and Juliet 5.1.20-21) to Romeo, all that Roemo knows is Juliet is dead and feels the only way he can go on is to buy poison and kill himself with Juliet. Additionally, the miscommunication between Romeo and Friar Lawrence leads Romeo to think Juliet is dead as he has not been made aware of the plan between Friar and Juliet. While Friar and Friar John are talking, Friar John says “I could not send it-here it is again-/ Nor get a messenger to bring it thee”(Romeo and Juliet 5.2.15-16). Friar John told Friar Lawrence that he could not send Romeo the message, so Romeo still thinks Juliet is dead. If Romeo had been aware of Juliet and Friar Lawrence's plan he would have known that Juliet was not really dead, so consequently he would not have killed himself, leading Juliet to kill herself.
